Adam Jones

Adam Jones is a passionate advocate, and a renewable energy and energy efficiency specialist who is dedicated to finding sustainable solutions to energy issues. He has been working and studying in the field for more than a decade, beginning as a Solar Energy International trained photovoltaic designer. In 2018, Adam completed a Master's in Environmental Studies with a focus on renewable energy and sustainable architecture policy. Areas of interest include the nexus of buildings and energy, sustainable building policy and practice, renewable energy and energy storage.

Bofa Udisi

Bofa is a sustainability professional with over seven years in the energy and environment industry. He has a Bachelor of Science in Energy and Petroleum Studies from Novena University in Nigeria and graduate certificates in Energy Management and Environmental Project Management from Seneca College in Toronto. In 2020, he graduated from the University of Waterloo with a Master of Environment and Business degree. He is currently a Ph.D. Candidate in the Building Science program at Toronto Metropolitan University, researching whole-life carbon reduction in new construction and building renovations. Bofa‘s work experience is primarily in the built environment, working in the private and public sectors in roles that involve structural and environmental assessment of building structures, HVAC engineering design and sales, and facilities management. Bofa is a member of several industry associations, such as the Association of Energy Engineers (AEE), the American Society for Heating Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE), and the Project Management Institute (PMI). Emily Smit

Emily is a second-year PhD student in Geography at the University of Toronto, and a co-operator of a small home renovation company, Magnus Home Improvements. Her research seeks to determine how single-family homes can quickly and best be retrofit to achieve Toronto's emissions reductions targets - including net-zero by 2040 - as part of the TransformTO climate action plan. Specifically, she will assess the impact of municipal home energy reporting and disclosure programs, as well as produce recommendations for growing the retrofit labour force in ways that attend to the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Further, her research seeks to understand how home retrofit activities can be regenerative and produce net-positive impacts for humans and the environment towards transformative, place-based sustainability. When not at her computer, Emily can be found cycling with her kids to and from school or making funky sounds on her analog synthesizer.

Gerry Cornwell

Gerry Cornwell, LC, is one of the leading lighting designers in Canada, with over 40 years experience as an award-winning independent designer with projects in the museum, art gallery, commercial, institutional and residential markets. Gerry Cornwell is the founder of the only university level Lighting Design Certificate program in Canada, at Ryerson University. Jenny Hill

Prior to rejoining the University she was a Research Scientist and the primary technical author to the revised Ontario Conservation Authorities' online guide for the design of low impact development (LID) strategies for stormwater management. John Robinson

Kevin Day

Kevin has over 30 years of building science, enclosure engineering and restoration experience across Canada and the USA. He focuses on building performance, durability, and energy efficiency - he's a current member of standard committees: CSA S478 Guideline for Durability in Buildings, and CSA A440.6 High Exposure Fenestration Installation. In 1999, Kevin started the ULC-S716 series of EIFS standards as committee chairman, residing on the task group until 2008, then rejoining in 2021. He was on the ULC-S700A Thermal Insulation Committee from 1999-2008 as well as ULC-S700B from 2006-2012. Kevin received the Anthony A. Woods Award (the Beckie) by the Ontario Building Envelope Council in 2014. Kevin is a former member of ASTM E6, C11, and C16, on building performance, gypsum systems and thermal insulation materials. In 2021, Kevin was appointed ISO Technical Committee 163 - SC3 - Thermal insulation products, components and systems, and designated as the EIFS expert for Canada in Working Group 9.

Robin Hutcheson has been a part of the SBC team since 2013, providing facilitation, and expertise with renewable energy, HVAC systems, and commissioning. He also served on the SBC Board of Directors. His engineering firm, Arborus Consulting works on high performance buildings and renewable energy supply. With the evolving impact of climate change, he has also turned his attention to Infrastructure Resilience, completing a professional program with the Climate Risk Institute and has prepared climate risk analysis for projects. Sebastián is a Senior Building Performance Consultant who joined DIALOG with extensive experience in energy simulation and analysis, over a range of market sectors including commercial, education, healthcare, and residential buildings. Sebastián's focus is on the energy performance of buildings, including complying with local green building codes, attaining Net Zero or LEED certification, and hitting energy efficiency targets specific to an organization. He works closely with design teams from an early stage to create high performance buildings both for new construction or existing building retrofits. In Sebastián's current position, he works on projects in pursuit of various sustainability and energy objectives, with the majority of his work revolving around: energy analysis and modelling, daylight modelling and analysis, passive design, the Toronto Green Standard, energy incentive coordination, and sustainability. Sebastián holds a B.Eng. from The Intituto Tecnologico de Buenos Aires (Argentina), and an M. Eng. from Carleton University. Sebastian has participated as an Energy Modeller and proponent in SBD programs in the past. He is an active volunteer and participant in the BBBC as both a member of the Advisory Panel and as a speaker. He also participated in SBC's D+IDEA3 Advisory Panel.
