In late 1945, Joe Stuart returned to Memphis after serving in WWII and married his long time sweetheart Janet Prechter. In 1946, they moved to El Dorado and opened Stuart's Typewriter Company. From scratch, they built a very successful office equipment company, serving south Arkansas. in 1973, Stuart's Typewriter Co. became Stuart's, Inc.
