SPE Turkey Section was founded in January 15, 1987 by Bumin Gurses, Ender Okandan, Aytin Göktekin, Vedat Arslan, İlhan Topkaya, Abdurrahman Satman and Coşan Ayan. In order to gain a formal statute, Petrol Mühendisleri Birliği Derneği was found in December 11, 1990 and is committed to SPE International by the ministerial council.
