Miranda Grell

Since 2019, Miranda has been formally instructed as a junior counsel to The Dobbs Review chaired by the former High Court Judge Dame Linda Dobbs DBE (www.dobbsreview.com) Dame Linda Dobbs was appointed by Lloyds Banking Group ("LBG") to consider whether the issues relating to HBOS Reading were investigated and appropriately reported to authorities at the time by LBG, following its acquisition of HBOS The independent legal assessment covers the period following HBOS's acquisition by LBG, in January 2009, through to the conclusion of criminal proceedings commenced against six individuals in connection with the HBOS Reading fraud. In addition, the Review is examining relevant evidence from before 2009 in order to assess what LBG knew or should reasonably have known about what happened at HBOS Reading by the time of the acquisition.

Mr Justice Sweeney

Mr Justice Sweeney, sitting in the Queen's Bench Division, held that the Circuit Judge had been entitled to grant relief and reinstate a claim which had been dismissed due to the Claimant's failure to attend a directions hearing. The failure to attend had prevented the court from managing the substantive claim (a housing matter) alongside a Children Act case. However, Mr Justice Sweeney accepted that, whilst the failure to attend had been deliberate, the Claimant genuinely believed the matter would not be dealt with at the directions hearing. Furthermore, the Defendant had suffered no prejudice as a result. Charlotte appeared on behalf of Home Group, the successful Claimant / Respondent, at first instance and on appeal.

Sabina is the founder of the Women in Gowns (WIGs) Project, which provides advocacy and legal skills training for female law students, advocates and Barristers in South Asia. The WIGs Project also provides judge-craft training for Judges working in South Asia. The core aims of the WIGs Project is to improve access to justice for those most vulnerable in society through shared learning with those working in the legal sector.

Simone Bowman

Simone Bowman has worked in legal practice for over 20 years starting as a paralegal in civil actions against the police and prison authorities. She qualified as a solicitor in 2008 and worked for 7 years as Supervising Solicitor at the Legal Advice Centre (University House) Bethnal Green. Simone is a passionate advocate who uses her strong analytical skills and attentive preparation to achieve the best results for her lay clients. Simone is a practising Attorney at Law in various islands in the Caribbean. In 2017, during completion of her Post Graduate Certificate of Legal Education from the Norman Manley Law School, University of West Indies, she trained with the esteemed Lord Anthony Gifford KC, a Jamaican based Attorney at Law. She accepts instructions to represent overseas clients with issues arising from breaches of Attorney's professional ethics, constitutional laws, Inheritance Act and land dispute transactions. Please see below cases where she was leading Counsel and led by Queen's Counsel.
