Dan is the founding partner of The Massey Law Firm and is licensed to practice in both Missouri and Illinois. Dan has been a trial attorney since his admission to practice in 2003, representing clients in a wide variety of matters including in environmental regulatory litigation, toxic tort litigation, business and commercial litigation, real estate litigation, product liability litigation, constitutional torts, personal injury and wrongful death cases, admiralty/maritime matters, and insurance coverage disputes, among others.
Dan has represented clients as both plaintiffs and defendants in state and federal trial courts throughout Missouri and the metro east area of southern Illinois, including as lead or first-chair trial counsel in more than 30 Missouri state court venues and the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Illinois. Dan has also represented clients in Missouri, Illinois and federal administrative proceedings. In addition, Dan has represented clients on appeal as lead counsel before Missouri's Eastern and Western District Courts of Appeal.
Ray has been a trial attorney for over 40 years, and has substantial trial experience in a broad range of areas including admiralty and maritime litigation, commercial litigation, business litigation, and catastrophic personal injury and wrongful death litigation. Ray has tried numerous cases to verdict in state and federal trial courts around the country and has argued cases on appeal in the appellate courts of Missouri, Illinois, and Kentucky as well as the Fifth, Sixth, Seventh, and Eighth Circuit U.S. Courts of Appeal.
Ray is recognized as a Proctor of Maritime Law by the Maritime Law Association of the United States and has represented inland barge line and towing companies, shipping and transportation companies, water-related construction companies and their insurers in all aspects of litigation including in high-exposure personal injury and death cases, collision cases, contract and insurance disputes and other matters. Many of the cases in which Ray has appeared have helped established current U.S. admiralty and maritime law.
