Amelia Baker

Amelia joined the team at Bamford Dental Practice in January 2019 as a General Dentist. She studied dentistry at Sheffield University and qualified in 2016. She has recently completed the first part of the Royal College of Surgeons MJDF examination. In 2015 as part of her degree, Amelia travelled to the Philippines to assist local Dentists with extractions and provide oral health education to local school children. Amelia enjoys all aspects of general dentistry including crown and bridgework, dentures, root fillings and routine restorations. When not working, Amelia enjoys cooking, yoga and walking her dog Nala. Amelia is also planning her wedding as she recently got engaged. Amelia's GDC No. is 265319

Bryan Bennett

Bryan graduated from Leeds Dental School with a BChD in 1993 and joined Bamford Dental Practice the following year. He is a Practice Principal and General Dentist who has a calm and gentle approach when treating his patients.

Della Taylor

Della joined Bamford Dental Practice in 2007. The previous year she had been awarded the Diploma of Dental Hygiene and Therapy from Leeds Dental Institute. Della also won the Yorkshire BADT prize for Paediatric Dentistry. She previously worked as a Dental Nurse for 6 years in a General Dental Practice, during which time she studied for her dental nursing and oral health certificates. Della thoroughly enjoys all aspects of her work as a Dental Hygienist and Therapist, especially the treatment of small children. She is registered with the GDC and is also a member of the British Society of Dental Hygienists and Therapists. She regularly attends seminars and conferences to help maintain her knowledge and continue her professional development. Della has two small children who keep her very busy. Jen Adam

Jen joined Bamford Dental Practice in 2011 after qualifying as a Dental Hygienist and Therapist from The University of Manchester in the same year. She works closely with patients, focusing on educating them in the prevention of future dental diseases. Jen also helps patients to improve and maintain excellent gum care in preparation for dental implant treatment. She especially likes treating patients who have complex periodontal (gum disease) problems and working with patients with special needs. Jen previously worked for a charity supporting adults with various special needs where she developed skills in reducing stress and anxiety which helps her to treat patients from various backgrounds, tailoring treatment to suit each patients individual needs. Outside of work Jen is the Co-founder and Trustee of a North-West based charity called "Diversions Family Support Network", which supports children and their families living with a bladder and/or bowel diversion. She loves animals and enjoys walking, food and travelling with her husband. Jen's GDC No.is 212994

Jenny Spurrett

Jennifer qualified as a dentist in 2001 from the University of Leeds and completed her training for general dentistry the following year in Halifax. After gaining many years' experience in general practice, she completed the MJDF and then the Diploma in Restorative Dentistry with the Faculty of General Dental Practitioners, finally upgrading to an MSc in Restorative Dentistry with the University of Plymouth. These equipped her with the knowledge and skills to complete complex restorative cases such as treating severe tooth wear and she has helped many people to transform their smiles whilst maintaining healthy teeth and gums for life. She also has an interest in orthodontics both fixed and clear aligner therapy and recently completed the 2 year Straight Forward Straight Wire course in Orthodontics.

Katrina Hayes

Katrina joined Bamford Dental Practice in 2022 as a locum covering Amelia's maternity leave. She graduated with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery from Liverpool University in 1993. Katrina completed a vocational training year in St. Helens, then took up a House Officer post at Manchester Dental Hospital. She then moved on to a Senior House Officer Post in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery with the East Lancashire team, gaining a Membership of the Faculty of General Dental Practitioners and a Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons along the way. In 1998, she acquired Holmfirth Dental Surgery, where she stayed as the Principal Dentist running a large NHS contract until 2019. During a short career hiatus, Katrina became a lead clinician in the South Kirklees Covid Vaccination Programme as well as completing courses in Horticulture and working for the Emergency Dental Service. During her spare time, Katrina enjoys spending time with her four grown up children, travelling and the great outdoors whether in the garden or out and about around Holmfirth

Lee Valentine

Lee graduated from the University of Liverpool in 1993 after winning the Henry Wade Deacon Scholarship. He has worked at Bamford Dental Practice for over 10 years as an Endodontist (root canal treatments). Lee worked as a General Practitioner in the NHS after graduation before continuing his education at Manchester University in the Department of Restorative Dentistry where he undertook 2 years post graduate training in endodontics (root fillings). He has accepted referrals throughout the North West for conventional and reparative endodontic procedures for over 20 years. He is experienced in the use of microscopy and the latest instrumentation and obturation protocols. He is currently a member of the BACD (British Association of Cosmetic Dentists), he has trained at the St Anne's Academy with Paul Tipton and has an interest in Cerec CAD/CAM dentistry (computer aided dentistry) as well as pre-restorative orthodontics using the Invisalign system. He is a graduate of the California Centre for Advanced Dental Studies (CCADS), holding a certificate in advanced concepts in Cosmetic Dentistry. He has completed a 12 month advanced Aesthetic and Restorative course in London with Chris Orr, a past President of the British Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (BACD). Lee is also a part time clinical instructor at the University of Manchester teaching the next generation of dentists and is also involved in the teaching of advanced endodontic techniques to existing dentists undergoing post graduate training through the University of Chester. Lesley Stott

Lesley left dental nursing in 1999 to train as a Dental Hygienist and Therapist at Sheffield University, where she qualified in 2001. She has been a member of the Bamford Dental Practice team since 2004. Prior to qualifying as a Dental Hygienist and Therapist, Lesley worked as a senior Dental Nurse teaching and preparing fellow Dental Nurses for their national dental nursing qualification in Rochdale, Oldham, Salford and Huddersfield Colleges. From 2001 Lesley has continued to work part-time in the Community Dental Service in Rochdale treating nervous patients and those with learning disabilities (both adults and children). As part of her role as a Hygienist and Therapist, Lesley works under prescription from the Dentists and not only carries out periodontal treatment but also places fillings, extracts deciduous (milk) teeth, takes dental impressions and provides oral health advice. Lesley is a member of the British Society of Dental Hygienists and Therapists and the British Association of Dental Therapists. Lesley thoroughly enjoys her work and prides herself on high standards of clinical care and inter-personal skills. Lesley is married to Mark and has 2 grown up sons. In her spare time Lesley enjoys fundraising for breast, prostate and bowel cancer, going to the gym, doing arts and crafts and socialising with family and friends. Maria McNally

Job Titles:

Maria studied Dentistry at the University of London and qualified in 1995. She joined Bamford Dental Practice in April 2016 and is a Consultant and Specialist in Orthodontics who became a Practice Principal the following year. Maria completed her Specialist and Consultant training in Birmingham, winning National and European awards along the way. She has won the Aesthetic dentistry award for the best interdisciplinary case for 2 consecutive years 2014 and 2015. Maria enjoys treating children and adults and provides a full range of treatment options including aesthetic braces such as Invisalign and lingual appliances such as Incognito, in addition to the more conventional ceramic and metal brackets. Maria's other clinical interests include orthognathic surgery (surgery to correct jaw discrepancies) and the use of temporary anchorage devices (miniscrews). Maria is actively involved in research and is currently undertaking a clinical trial in South Manchester. Maria lectures and trains Orthodontists to become Specialists and Consultants. Maria is a member of the British Orthodontic Society, British Lingual Orthodontic Society and is currently on the British Orthodontic Society Research and Development Committee. Mark Edmondson

Mark joined Bamford Dental Practice in 2007 and is a Practice Principal and Specialist in oral surgery. He qualified at Manchester Dental Hospital in 1991 and received his Fellowship in Dental Surgery from the Royal College of Surgeons in 1995. He is also an honorary staff Surgeon for the East Lancashire Maxillofacial Service where he worked as a staff grade Surgeon for 13 years between 1992 and 2005, with experience in many aspects of oral and maxillofacial surgery including facial trauma and cancer. He was awarded the Astra Tech Implant Scholarship in 2001. He specialises in the surgical aspects of implant dentistry and has placed more than 4,000 dental implants todate. He works alongside several restorative colleagues and Laboratory Technicians providing a team approach for dental implantology in private Dental Practice. He provides lectures for implant training and mentoring and teaches on the University of Manchester Msc Implantology course. He is a member of the British Dental Association, The Association of Dental Implantology, The British Association of Oral Surgeons, The British Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and the European Association for Osseointegration. Mark Howdle

Mark qualified from Birmingham Dental Hospital in 1989 and completed his Masters degree, awarded with Distinction and Membership in the Faculty of Dental Surgery in 1999, becoming a registered Specialist in Periodontics with the GDC. Mark was invited to join Bamford Dental Practice in early 2019. In 2010 Mark helped found, and was an examiner, lecturer and mentor for the Periodontal MSc programme at the University of Manchester providing a Specialist level post-graduate periodontal and implant training programme. He is devoted to the treatment of gum diseases, and also the improvement of cosmetic gum problems, working in close harmony with referring General Dentists and other Dental Specialists. He has extensive experience in restorative and implant dentistry, from single teeth to the rehabilitation of complete dental arches, and has placed and restored over 3,000 dental implants. He has gained a wealth of experience with over 25 years in private Dental Practice and has been a Clinician, and Lecturer, in high profile Centres of Dental Excellence in Harley Street and the St Ann's Dental Academy in Manchester. With the occurrence of new innovative breakthroughs, and techniques, in Periodontics, Restorative and Implant Dentistry, Mark is committed to lifelong post-graduate education: through the referencing of peer reviewed dental journals to national, and international, dental meetings. He is an active member of The British Society of Periodontology, The British Dental Association, and The Association of Dental Implantology, and he is a post-graduate Periodontal and Implant mentor. Peter Burke

Pete has worked as a General Dentist at Bamford Dental Practice since 2012. He qualified from Liverpool Dental School in 1993 and completed a vocational trainee year at a Practice in Lancashire, remaining there until 1997.

Syed Hader

Syed started working at Bamford Dental Practice as a General Dentist in the Autumn of 2010. He gained a Bachelor of Dental Surgery degree when he graduated from the University of Manchester in 2009. Syed then spent a further 12 months completing vocational training at a Practice in Padiham in Lancashire where he further developed the skills to improve the health and vitality of his patients, providing for all their dental needs and requirements. He used this year to develop his skills in all aspects of dentistry from routine examinations, restorations, through to complex treatments including endodontics (root canal therapy), prosthetics (dentures) and crown and bridgework. During the summer of 2008 Syed travelled to Vietnam to help treat patients who unfortunately didn't have access to a Dentist. He carried out a range of treatments including fillings and extractions on a voluntary basis. During vocational training, Syed supplemented his practical work with attendance at numerous days of group study, lectures, seminars and courses with the aim to gain further knowledge and understanding of the dental profession and to keep up with the continuous changes arising in dentistry so he would always remain at the forefront of treatments and options available to patients. Syed is focused on delivering the highest quality of dentistry with only the best in patient care. This is achieved by his kind, considerate and informal nature with patients, his attention to detail and focus to deliver the highest quality of dentistry with a sound evidence base. Syed has a keen interest in facial aesthetics and is currently undertaking a post-graduate Diploma with a view to obtaining a Masters Degree in Aesthetic Medicine and Skin Ageing at the University of Manchester. Syed has been treating patients for skin complaints such as wrinkles, loss of volume, lip enhancements and helping patients with hyperhidrosis to name just a few.
