I work with a broad range of clients, from sole traders to limited companies. My role involves making sure our clients are provided with a good quality service, that always goes above and beyond. The services that I am involved in include preparation of statutory accounts, audit services, general bookkeeping, management accounts and preparation and submission of VAT returns. I like to understand the needs of my clients and the sectors in which they operate. Having a sound knowledge of individual businesses helps me to advise when it comes to assisting clients to achieve their long-term goals. One of the sectors I particularly enjoy working with are charities and not-for-profit organisations. At SB&P we provide services including independent examinations, preparation of charitable accounts and carrying out statutory audits. We also provide general bookkeeping services and advice to trustees and directors. Working with the not-for-profit sector gives me the diversity I so enjoy, but it has also given me a real appreciation of how much reliance is placed on fundraising. This has inspired me to organise regular charity events, which the team at SB&P have thoroughly enjoyed and participated in. The charity events have made a positive impact on the team as we are all working together for a good cause, and helping others inevitably makes you feel good.

I work with a varied client base from Limited Companies to sole traders. My role involves making sure that our clients' statutory and compliance needs are taken care of and to provide a good quality service. I am involved with managing and reviewing the work, requesting documents and making sure all deadlines are met. I like to understand the nature of my client's business and the sector they operate in to be able to advise them and help them achieve their goals. What is the most daring thing you've ever done? I held a snake around my neck and petted a tiger in Thailand, although I have a feeling it was drugged! What is the most exciting thing on your bucket list? Recently on a trip to London, we were part of flash mob dance at Trafalgar Square. What one piece of advice would you give your 10-year-old self? Never give up and always compete with yourself to achieve the best.

I want my clients to know that all of their compliance needs have been taken care of and that everything is in hand so that they can focus on what matters most to them and their business. I enjoy the technical side of accounts, so it is important to me that we produce a fully comprehensive set of accounts in a timely fashion, ensuring that we have dotted every ‘i' and crossed every ‘t'. If I know that everything has been done correctly, then my clients will feel assured - and that's one less thing for them to worry about. As an Audit Manager, I provide audit compliance work and advice. Most of my clients are pension schemes, credit unions, small trading companies and charities. Whoever the client, I always make sure that I spend time uncovering exactly what it is that they need. This means that I can focus on the key issues that I know are most important to them. My team and I can then respond in the right way, solve their issues quickly and deliver real value.

  • Each Partner in SB & P Is a Limited Liability Partnership Controlled by the above Individual Members and the Gerald Edelman Partnership, Respectively
Robert James Russell Young LLP is a Partner in SB&P I hate surprises. So, everything I do is to make sure that my clients never have to encounter a nasty surprise. I believe that it's my role to think ahead and plan for the future of my clients' businesses. This means that I do everything I can to ensure that they have all the information they need to deal effectively with whatever is around the corner. I spend time with my clients to talk through all the possible scenarios, identify new opportunities and to put systems and processes in place to help plan for the future. I know this means that they worry less, sleep better and can focus on what is most important to them. I see myself as being so much more than an ‘accountant'. I look after a variety of different owner managed businesses and I have experience of working across a number of sectors - particularly in relation to planning for business growth, disposal and acquisitions. I am particularly interested in how we use technology in accounting. People often don't have the right systems, which means that they don't have the right information. But, with the right information, my clients know how their business is doing in real time, which helps them to look ahead and make better business decisions.
