ALEX TODD

Alex commenced his aviation journey in 2012 whilst still in school in Port Elizabeth, South Africa. Once qualified as a Commercial Pilot, he worked in the charter and surveying sectors, simultaneously completing his instructors rating and delivering ab initio instruction. In 2015, he joined PTC Aviation as a B737NG SFI and also delivered training towards initial instructor courses. In 2017, he took over as the Team Leader of B737NG training at PTC Aviation. He joined 43 Air School in 2018 as the Head of Training, parting his advanced training concepts and knowledge with students and instructors in the ab initio environment. When he isn't flying or spending time with his two cats, Alex enjoys soaking up all that the Eastern Cape has to offer and working on classic cars and motorbikes.

Attie Niemann - CEO

Attie started his Aviation career in the South African Air force as an Air Combat Fighter pilot. Here, he flew many Operational Combat Missions on Mirage & Impala Fighter jets with 2, 3 and 7 Squadrons as a Flight Leader. At this time, he was also the Airshow display pilot on the Mirage F1CZ Aircraft for the Airforce. After leaving the SAAF, he founded Streamline Aviation. In 1998 he sold this company to Imperial Holdings, a JSE listed company. Through this merger, at the age of 36 he joined National Airways & Finance Corporation (NAFCO) and was appointed as Group Executive Director Operations. He was a major shareholder of NAFCO, the holding Company at the time. Under his leadership, NAC expanded its Fixed Wing and Helicopter Charter, as well as its International Operations and Training Divisions to the largest in Africa. NAC grew to become Africa's largest Aviation Operation, which is still highly respected and successful. He was instrumental in the Acquisition of 43 Air School in 2002, and has been a board member since. In 2007, he founded 43 Advanced Training in Lanseria Airport and in 2009, he was appointed CEO of 43 Air School. In 2014, Attie co-founded PTC Aviation. A Passionate entrepreneur, he also founded ATCON Construction as well as Funda & Go B2B (which are both successful IT companies in Toronto in Canada). With nearly 40 years of aviation & business experience, he is also passionately interested in Information Technology, Education &Training, as well as History, Anthropology, Architecture, Science and Nature.

Kate Louwrens

Kate, who hails from the charming town of Port Alfred, joined 43 Air School back in 2009 and has established herself as a senior member of the school's finance department. Kate's dedication and work ethic resulted in her inclusion on the school's management team, further recognition of her value to the school took the form of her recent appointment as an executive director of 43 Air School. During this time Kate has applied herself and expanded her knowledge in accounting by pursuing a Bachelor of Accounting Sciences degree with a specialization in management accounting. Beyond the office, Kate holds a deep appreciation for family bonds, emphasizing a well-rounded perspective that extends seamlessly into both her personal and professional life.

Mira Medjdoub

Job Titles:
  • DIRECTOR OPERATIONS
Mira Medjdoub was born in Algeria, where she grew interest in aviation and obtained a Masters in Aeronautics, specializing in Flight Operations and Quality Assurance Management. She started her career as a Radio Operator and later became the Operations Manager of Air Express Algeria. In 2018, Mira joined 43 Air School as Responsible Person Aircraft and Operations and Quality Manager promoting quality throughout the company and on-going compliance. She was later promoted to Chief Operating Officer and Director of Operations after four years in the company ensuring the smooth running of operations within the company and that safety protocols are met. When Mira is not working, she enjoys reading and spending time with her family.

Shaun Musson

Shaun joined the 43 Air School team in 2004. Having been promoted from a management position at NAC, he gave up the hustle and bustle of Johannesburg and relocated to the tranquil town of Port Alfred where he met and married Claire. They became the proud parents of their daughter Kayleigh in 2011. Shaun's career started in the banking sector where he gained valuable experience in mortgage and commercial lending as well as divisional management. Having graduated with a B Comp from Unisa, Shaun seized an opportunity to further his financial career in the aviation industry and joined NAC as the accountant of their helicopter division in 1997. Shaun's love for all things flying is matched by his keen interest in most forms of motor sport. He is well traveled and shares his love of the outdoors and nature, which is abundant, in the Eastern Cape, with his family.
