One of the attractions to the village is the old copper mine buildings. Cornish copper mines were set up in Allihies a few hundred years ago and the remains of the buildings can be seen. Exactly the same as the old mine buildings one can see in Cornwall, England. There is a copper mine museum. www.acmm.ie this museum will be of interest to many, young and old to show how the mines worked and the conditions a few hundred years ago.
