My name is Joe Lanza and my family has been in the awning and tarpaulin business for nearly 70 years. American Awning and Canvas is a 3rd generation business with our roots in Cleveland. In 1945, my great uncle Gino Mileti founded American Tarpaulin & Padding to serve the trucking, military and furniture padding markets. My father Frank Lanza headed the company for many years and expanded our reach into new markets. When I took over the day-to-day operations of the company in the 1980s, I renamed it American Awning and Canvas to better reflect our focus on awnings for commercial and residential customers as well as custom covers for the marine market...
