Barbara J. Wohlsen

Barbara joined Auerbach Pollock Friedlander's New York office in 2015 as a technical designer. Her background includes extensive production management and technical production experience in opera, dance, theater, and classical music. Prior to joining Auerbach Pollock Friedlander, Barbara served as the Director of Production for New York City Opera, both while at Lincoln Center and at a variety of venues across New York City. She has also held production management positions at the Miller Theatre at Columbia University and the Brooklyn Academy of Music. Her technical experience comes primarily as a Master Electrician and includes six seasons with Glimmerglass Opera. She also served on the production staff at the Fisher Center for the Performing Arts at Bard College during the facility's final construction and inaugural season. In addition to her performing arts experience, Barbara is also active in museum exhibition lighting design.

Benjamin Strange

Ben brings two decades of experience with sound, video and communications technology, theatrical systems design, and architectural consulting to Auerbach Pollock Friedlander. Prior to joining Auerbach Pollock Friedlander, Ben worked as a consultant at a leading integrated MEP and architecture firm, specializing in theatrical systems specifications for performing arts centers, cinemas, production studios, museums and institutions of higher education. He has consulted on a number of AIA and USITT award-winning facilities, including the development of internationally-recognized green buildings and sustainable design projects. Ben's professional credits in performing arts and multimedia production make him exceptionally qualified to consult on integrated sound, video and communications systems for entertainment facilities. His passion for technology, design, and client satisfaction has resulted in the successful completion of numerous projects, from modest infrastructure-only designs to unique immersive experiences and fully integrated performing arts centers. Ben's past work as a sound designer, composer and engineer include nationally recognized productions and performing artists, as well as an international collaboration funded by the NEH.

Prior to his work at Auerbach Pollock Friedlander, Brad worked primarily as a theatrical production manager and technical director. Notable engagements include ten years as the production manager of the Aspen Music Festival and five years as the technical director of Dance Theater Workshop in New York. He has worked as technical consultant for dozens of dance and theater productions in New York and with domestic and international tours. He is an active scenic designer and continues to work closely with the New York dance and theater community. Brad brings a solid and diverse background in technical production to his work at Auerbach Pollock Friedlander. Christina Lu Jin

Christina joined Auerbach Glasow in 2017 as a technical designer. Before becoming a full time member of the staff, she worked for the firm as an intern in 2016. In her current role as a designer, Christina collaborates on all aspects of the design process for a wide range of significant projects. Her responsibilities include fixture research and specification, document management, graphic presentation, 3D modeling, daylighting studies and photometric calculations. Prior to her internship at Auerbach Glasow, Christina also completed internships for a multidisciplinary engineering firm located in Pennsylvania and the China Northeast Architectural Design & Research Institute Company. Christina participated in various design and planning exercises as part of her rigorous Architectural Engineering education at Pennsylvania State University. She is exceptionally proficient in computer aided design software programs and is fluent in English and Mandarin Chinese.

Christopher L. Morris

Christopher joined Auerbach Glasow as a technical designer in 2016 after previously working on a contract basis for the firm. In this role, he works in joint collaboration with the lighting design team providing CAD management, graphic presentation design, lighting control design and lighting calculations. Christopher also provides technical support in a similar capacity to Auerbach Pollock Friedlander and is a valuable member of the studio team. His background includes nine years with the San Jose Repertory Theatre, most recently as the theatre's production manager. Christopher's strong technical foundation was established in his previous positions as a theatrical technical director, assistant technical director and an automation consultant. Christopher holds an MFA from Yale University and a BFA from Milikin University.

With more than 20 years of experience as an audio-video, multimedia consultant and systems installation/integration contractor, Dan brings a unique, field-tested approach to his design and consulting work for Auerbach Pollock Friedlander. His systems design projects cover a wide range of facilities including multi-room performing arts centers, university theatres, digital projection venues and houses of worship. His project experience includes the Studio Tower Renovation at Carnegie Hall, the Lewis Arts Complex at Princeton University, the New Brunswick Performing Arts Center and the Guggenheim Abu Dhabi. E. Sara McBarnette

Sara joined the lighting design team at Auerbach Glasow in 1999 with a solid background in lighting design acquired over a five-year period while engaged with other prestigious lighting design firms. She has been involved in the design and management of many significant lighting projects with Auerbach Glasow including exterior site master plans, city streetlighting design, commercial office facilities, fine arts museums, retail and worship spaces. Sara developed an interest in lighting during her undergraduate years at Stanford University. After graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Product Design Engineering, she chose to concentrate on lighting and enrolled in the Parsons School of Design program in architectural lighting where she earned her Master of Fine Arts degree. She has a LEED AP BD+C certification which represents specialization in green building practices for commercial design and construction.

In this role, she provides support to the studio team utilizing her training in architecture, theatre and sound design and her exceptional proficiency with computer aided design programs. Before joining Auerbach Pollock Friedlander, Kayla interned with architecture firms in Pittsburgh and New York where she participated in all aspects of the design and construction process including reviewing drawings, performing building code analysis, creating site analysis diagrams, evaluating the results of feasibility studies and providing construction administration support. During her education at Carnegie Mellon University, she had the opportunity to study abroad in New Zealand and Switzerland and participated in an Advanced Architecture Studio in France. Her Thesis, "Aberrant: The Psychoacoustics of Sonic Space" focused on sound design in architecture and explores how room acoustics play an important role in a person's movement through space.

Kenneth brings more than 50 years of theatre background and more than 40 years of professional experience to the firm in planning and design of performing arts and media facilities, including professional theatre, education theatre, government, corporate and institutional applications, radio and television broadcasting facilities, media production and post production facilities, and cinema screening rooms, including new construction and complex renovations of existing operating facilities. Before joining Auerbach Pollock Friedlander as a principal in the San Francisco office, Kenneth spent 20 years as a principal and co-founder of a firm in San Francisco where he worked on more than 1,000 projects. Prior to co-founding his previous firm, Kenneth served as president of Filmways Audio Services in North Hollywood, California, a leading provider of crewed production services, equipment rental and system installation contracting services to the motion picture, broadcast television, theme park and special event industries. He also served as vice-president of engineering for the Filmways Audio Group, with management oversight responsibility for Wally Heider Recording, Heider Scoring Services, Heider Cutting Services and ACI retail professional sales. In the interim, he worked as a project manager for a theatrical equipment manufacturer where he oversaw numerous projects, including the George S. and Dolores Dore Eccles Theater, Rogers Place Arena, and The City University of New York, New York City College of Technology, Academic Building. Pete O'Neil

Pete comes to Auerbach Pollock Friedlander with a strong background in large venue design and installation, as well as significant experience with operational support and system commissioning. He has led audiovisual teams on collaboration and presentation spaces for corporate and higher education clients. With over 10 years of experience supporting events ranging from University of Michigan and Miami Dolphins football home games to the Miami Grand Prix Formula One, Pete is well versed in the technology design process- from drawing board to final execution- that makes a facility a successful host. His focus at APF will be on collaborating with the firm's team of experts at the intersection of technology and architecture to give clients the flexible, scalable building systems that allow a facility to evolve while staying relevant and in demand. His portfolio includes new build and renovation projects for higher education and corporate campuses, offices, theaters, stadiums, and arenas, including scopes for sound, AV and broadcast infrastructure and systems. In addition to his work on commissioning new builds, Pete has also led sound system re-tuning efforts at several major league facilities, including The San Francisco Giants, Chicago Cubs, Philadelphia Eagles, and Kansas City Royals. Robert Hill

Rob joined Auerbach Pollock Friedlander's San Francisco office in 2006 and in his 14 years with the firm he has served as project manager, senior consultant, designer and San Francisco office studio manager. In 2017 Rob was named a Principal of the firm. He brings more than 15 years of technical theatre and theatrical lighting design knowledge to the firm, including work on more than 100 operas. During his tenure at Auerbach Pollock Friedlander he has served as Project Manager and Principal in Charge for numerous projects in China. His project experience has included numerous higher education facilities, renovation projects, custom built showrooms and secondary education arts facilities. As Founder - Emeritus, Len celebrates over 50 years of professional experience and international expertise in theatre consulting to his practice. His approach to theatre, architectural lighting, audio-video and multi-media consulting combines a background in architecture with his scenic and theatrical lighting design experience gained in New York and at leading regional theatres. In 1968, he left his position as resident lighting designer at the Tyrone Guthrie Theatre in Minneapolis and joined the consulting firm of Bolt, Beranek, and Newman in New York, ultimately becoming director of their theatre consulting services in San Francisco. In 1972, he formed the consulting firm of Piacentini/Auerbach that ultimately became Auerbach Pollock Friedlander - Auerbach Glasow.

She is an associate and project manager with the firm and her recent project experience includes designs for the San Francisco Conservatory of Music at 200 Van Ness, Monterey Bay Aquarium's Center for Education and Leadership and 700 Santana Row in San Jose. Yue started her lighting career at an award-winning lighting design firm in Bonn, Germany where she was involved in the design of many significant domestic and international projects. After that, she moved to a prestigious lighting design firm in Stuttgart, Germany as a lighting designer and project manager. Her project experience includes lighting master plans for streetscapes, exterior lighting of urban spaces, historic buildings, museums, theatres, retail, hospitality buildings, commercial office facilities as well as the design and development of lighting fixtures. She has also participated in multiple research projects and lighting design workshops.

Yukiko has been in the field of lighting design since joining Auerbach Glasow in 1995. Her responsibilities encompass all aspects of lighting design and project management for projects ranging from small high school theaters to a transportation facility spanning four city blocks. She is a collaborator committed to design solutions where lighting is integrated seamlessly with architecture while being comfortable to end users. Yukiko's interest in lighting design that supports well-being developed while she was pursuing a graduate degree and working as a research assistant at the Human Factor's Lab in the Lighting Research Center at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. She frequently enjoys attending conferences in both the US and overseas in order to learn about emerging technologies and gain insight into the latest research in the field of lighting. Prior to becoming a lighting designer she worked in Japan as a designer for a design and construction management firm specializing in restaurants and retail.
