Ben Balkcom

Ben Balkcom is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and holds Bachelor and Master's degrees in business and taxation from the University of New Mexico. He specializes in tax planning and preparation for individuals and small to mid-size businesses across a myriad of industries. Before coming to Balkcom & Company CPAs, P.A., Ben was a Tax Manager at one of the largest local CPA firms in New Mexico. Ben is a third generation CPA who strives to bridge the gap between complex tax law and real-world situations that clients face every day. Certainly, one aspect of this involves compliance with tax laws and regulations. However, Ben's goal is to use his expertise to serve as an independent advisor that can help his clients understand and make informed decisions in regards to their financial situations. Philanthropically, Ben sits on various committees at the New Mexico Society of CPAs, including the Young CPA Committee and the Leadership Academy Committee. In addition, he sits on the board and is the Treasurer of The National Museum of Nuclear Science & History. Ben has enjoyed participating in charitable events which have included the Doggie Dash & Dawdle (Animal Humane Society), Kickball for the Kids (Junior Achievement), and golf tournaments benefitting the Children's Cancer Fund and Ronald McDonald House charities. Ben loves to spend time with his family. On a normal weekend, he can be found walking in the Bosque or the open space with his wife, Darci, and his German Shepherd/Golden Retriever mix, Roxy.

Keith D. Balkcom

Keith Balkcom is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and Certified Financial Planner (CFP). He is the president of Balkcom & Company CPAs, P.A. and primarily works in the areas of taxation, financial planning, and small business consultation. Keith is past president of the New Mexico Society of CPAs and has served as the representative to the NM State Board of Accountancy. He completed a three-year term as a member of Council, the governing body of the American Institute of CPAs. He served as an editorial advisor for the AICPA weekly money management columns, which appeared in more than 1,300 newspapers in 30 states. He also served on the national steering committee for the 1990, 91, and 92 AICPA Public Relations Conferences, held in Nashville, Orlando, and Phoenix. Keith is a frequent speaker and has authored several articles on tax and business issues. He appears periodically on Albuquerque TV stations KOAT and KRQE, providing tax and financial planning advice. Keith served as Lieutenant District Governor for Rotary District 5520, and then completed a three-year term as Humanitarian Grant Chairman for the District. He served as president of the 340+ member Rotary Club of Albuquerque in 1999, after having served as treasurer for several years. He currently serves as treasurer on the board of directors of the Albuquerque Rotary Charitable Foundation. In 2007, Keith completed a one-year term as president of Silver Horizons New Mexico, a non-profit organization dedicated to offering programs and services that facilitate independence and maximize the quality of life of low income seniors. He had served on the board of directors as treasurer for four years. Keith currently serves as chairman of the finance committee of Faith Lutheran Church in Albuquerque, treasurer of the Albuquerque Armed Forces Assocation, and treasurer of the Center for International Studies/Albuquerque International Association. Keith has handled the financial affairs of several local and state political campaigns and has been active in the lobbying of the US Congress and the NM Legislature regarding tax issues. He also served a five-year term as a member of the City of Albuquerque audit committee, which oversees the internal audit function of the City. A near-native of Albuquerque and a graduate of the Anderson School of Management at the University of New Mexico, Keith was chairman of Sights & Sites '87 - The Albuquerque Development Tour, sponsored by the Greater Albuquerque Chamber of Commerce. He was New Mexico chairman of the 1986 White House Conference on Small Business. Keith is past president of the Albuquerque Jaycees and past executive vice-president of the New Mexico Jaycees. During his time with the Jaycees, he organized the Men's City Golf Championship for several years, and was active with the Albuquerque Jaycee Invitational Indoor Track Meet. Keith is married to Lurette, a self-employed travel agent at Odyssey Travel LLC. Together they share their love of golf, snow-skiing, and travel.
