Caleb Johns

Job Titles:
  • Senior Loan Officer
Caleb Johns joined the Capital Hill Branch of 1st Security in March 2019. With many options open to him he chose the bank for the same reasons you should - great rates, local streamlined service, compelling loan products, and outstanding people. Caleb is detail-oriented and meticulous by nature; these qualities make him a great manager of the loan process. He prides himself on his clear communication and expert mortgage knowledge, always making sure that his clients understand all aspects of the process. Whether you are a first-time FHA buyer or a seasoned investor looking for a jumbo loan, you can rest assured that Caleb will explain all the options available, help you choose the right path for your needs, and close the loan smoothly. In fact, in the six-plus years he has been originating home loans, he has never failed to close a purchase on time. Caleb has spent most of his career in fields tied to residential homes. He was raised in a family of builders and earned a hands-on education in construction; later he spent a dozen years helping clients build art collections for their homes. He holds a B.A. degree from the University of CA, obtained his Real Estate License in the State of Hawaii, and was one of the first people to be certified as a LEED Green Associate while studying Sustainable Business Practices at Presidio Graduate School in San Francisco, CA -- finding healthier ways to grow our built environment and economy is important to him. In his spare time Caleb enjoys hiking with his wife and their German Short-haired Pointer, working on home improvement projects, strumming his ukulele, and planning his next international trip.

Donn C Costa - EVP

Job Titles:
  • Executive Vice President
For over 28 years, Donn Costa's career in the mortgage industry has continued to thrive. Today, as Executive Vice President of Home Lending for Washington's 1st Security Bank, Costa has a new challenge, and one he relishes. Appointed to his position in late 2011, Costa looks to take 1st Security's home lending effort to the top, a place where he is most familiar. "Our success is built on a strategy of making a positive difference in the communities we serve, and being an employer of choice," Costa explained. "It is our goal to make home lending and banking an enjoyable experience for our clients. We work hard to make our community bank your bank for life." And Costa knows how to accomplish that. From his most recent position as Executive Vice President with Sterling Savings Bank, from his role as President of Lynnwood Financial Corporation (parent company of the very successful Golf Savings Bank), to his early days in the business, he has risen to the top of the ranks. Costa began his career in 1986 as a loan officer with Lomas and Nettleton Mortgage Company, which followed his 1985 cum laude graduation from Washington State University with a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration. From 1987 to 1994 he established himself as a leading loan officer at Phoenix Mortgage Company, consistently making the prestigious President's Club. At Lynnwood Financial, which he joined in 1994, he set the bar higher when that company became one of the top lenders in the area. Converted to a full service bank in 2000, and known as Golf Savings Bank, he, and his bank, soared to new heights. Golf, purchased by Sterling Financial in 2006, was one of the top three home lending companies in the state and in his last full year with Golf in 2010, Costa led the bank's mortgage division to record heights by closing nearly $3 billion in home loans, which was the most of any bank headquartered in the State of Washington. Costa is past president of the Washington Mortgage Lenders and the Seattle Mortgage Bankers. He has served on the advisory board of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. Beyond that, he embraces the culture at 1st Security, with its focus on people, community, top-level service, outstanding performance and its desire to be the best in the business. And with Costa's track record, it should only be a matter of time before 1st Security Bank is known as an outstanding community home lender.
