C. Taylor Phillips

Mr. Phillips worked for six years as a personal trainer and in a hospital based wellness program before following his dream and attending the physician assistant program at the University of Florida. Following graduation, he spent eight years working in pediatric ENT; he then moved to North Carolina to work in general ENT. Mr. Phillips recently joined the team at Blue Ridge Ear Nose and Throat and sees patients at our Boone and Jefferson offices. Mr. Phillips is married with two sons in college. In his free time he enjoys running, biking, swimming, hiking, hammock camping and gardening.

Charles W. Ford

Dr. Charles Ford is the founder and managing partner of Blue Ridge Ear, Nose and Throat. He takes great pride in providing medical and surgical care involving diseases of the ear, nose, throat, head/neck and allergies. Dr. Ford is a skilled surgeon and performs a broad range of surgery in the head and neck. His specialty interests include removal and reconstruction of facial and neck skin cancers, thyroid and parathyroid surgery. Dr. Ford has enjoyed significant accomplishments as a nasal and sinus surgeon as well. Medically, Dr. Ford strives to provide the highest standard of care treating issues such as hearing loss and allergy. He also has significant expertise in complex problems such as chronic cough, dizziness, hoarseness and difficulty swallowing. Dr. Ford has served the community since he founded the practice in 1994 and takes great pride in providing needed care to the high country. His expertise, guidance and wisdom have allowed Blue Ridge Ear, Nose and Throat to thrive and grow for 29 successful years. Outside of medicine, Dr. Ford focuses on his family, including his 26 grandchildren. Dr. Ford's son-in-law, Dr. Joseph Garner, will be joining the practice in the near future!

John Shoaf

Job Titles:
  • Physician Assistant
Mr. Shoaf joined Blue Ridge Ear, Nose and Throat in September 2022 as a Certified Physician Assistant. Mr. Shoaf grew up in Hickory, North Carolina and always stayed close to the area he loves. He moved to Winston Salem, North Carolina to pursue becoming a physician assistant after first graduating college. Mr. Shoaf worked on his trade in the High Country providing health care to the community at Appalachian Internal Medicine, Blue Ridge Pediatric & Adolescent Medicine, High Country Proactive Health and Watauga Surgical Group. During his tenure serving Watauga County, Mr. Shoaf also served in the U.S. Air Force as a physician between 2010 and 2015. Outside of the office, Mr. Shoaf enjoys spending time with his wife and their two children.

Thomas J. Boeve

Dr. Boeve has worked in the ENT field for more than 20 years, both in the United States and around the world. He is the founder of the Department of ENT and Audiology at Kijabe Hospital in Kenya and served there with his family for three years. In addition, he is a Smile Train/Samaritan's Purse cleft lip and palate surgeon and has performed hundreds of cleft cases in many developing countries around the world. Dr. Boeve recently joined Blue Ridge ENT and Samaritan's Purse as the Assistant Director of International Mission Hospitals. He is particularly interested in diseases of the ear and sinuses as well as the care of children. Dr. Boeve sees patients at our Boone location.
