Dr. M. Ravichandran has assumed charge as Secretary, Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES) from 11 Oct 2021.
He obtained his Ph.D degree in Physics from University of Pune. He was Director at NCPOR, Goa (2016-2021). He worked as a Scientist in Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology (ESSO-IITM), Pune (1988 to 1997).

Dr. M. Sudhakar, Scientist-G, Ministry of Earth Sciences, New Delhi, has taken additional charge of the Director, CMLRE w.e.f. 10.09.2014. Dr. Sudhakar obtained Ph.D from Indian School of Mines, Dhanbad and a Master's degree in Law of the Sea and Marine Policy in 1990 from the London School of Economics & Political Science, UK as a British Council Fellow. Dr Sudhakar served two premier research institutions of the country -- National Institute of Oceanography (NIO) & National Centre for Antarctic and Ocean Research (NCAOR) in Goa and occupied various positions such as project leader and scientist in various grades. He is a veteran Oceanographer with 33 years of professional experience, spent more than 1500 days at sea on-board research vessels, as leader of expeditions to Southern Ocean and Antarctica.
Dr. M. V. Ramana Murthy took charge as Director of CMLRE on 1st January 2020. Dr. Ramana Murthy completed his B.E. in Civil Engineering from Nagarjun University, Andhra Pradesh and obtained M.Tech. and Ph.D. in Ocean Engineering from IIT, Chennai.He has worked as a Senior Engineer at Vishakapatnam Port Trust before joining the Integrated Coastal and Marine Area Management - Project Directorate (ICMAM-PD), Chennai as Scientist in 1999, where he served for 10 years.In 2009, he joined the National Institute of Ocean Technology (NIOT), Chennai as Scientist F and in2013 he became Head of the Ocean Structures & Island Desalination Division at NIOT. In 2016, he was appointed the Director of the National Centre for Coastal Research, Chennai, a position he holds to date.During his tenure at various institutions of the Ministry of Earth Sciences, i.e. NCCR (formerly ICMAM-PD), NIOT and CMLRE, Dr. Ramana Murthy has made significant contributions, particularly in the field of Ocean Engineering. Dr. Ramana Murthy is a National Expert on Climate Resilient Coastal Protection and Management Project, CWC and has served on many national committees, including the Research Advisory Committees of CMLRE and NCESS and Governing Council of NIOT.Dr. Ramana Murthy has published over 100 papers in national and international referred journals and proceedings, has produced over 20 technical reports and has delivered over 50 talks in national workshops and international working groups. Dr. Ramana Murthy served as the President of the Ocean Society of India (2016-2018) and is a member of the International Association for Hydro-Environment Engineering and Research (IAHR) as well as IEEE.

Dr. V. N. SANJEEVAN is the Former Director, Centre for Marine Living Resources & Ecology, Ministry of Earth Sciences. He completed his Post Graduation from Mumbai University, his Ph.D. from Central Institute of Fisheries Education, Mumbai and Post-doctoral research on Climate Change and Fisheries at the Climate Research Centre, University of East Anglia, U.K. He is a Fellow of the Academy of Science, Engineering and Technology, conferred in 2012. Started professional career as a lecturer at Mumbai University and Joined Department of Ocean Development in 1989 as a scientist. He retired in 2013 as the Director of Centre for Marine Living Resources & Ecology, Kochi. He now serves as Professor Chair at the Center of Excellence in Aquatic Resource Management & Conservation, KUFOS. Dr. Sanjeevan has served as Official representative of Govt. of India in various international Committees such as Commission for Conservation of Antarctic Marine Living Resources, the Census of Marine Life, the OBIS and Indo-US collaboration on Science & Technology. He was Member of the Governing Council of Kerala University of Fisheries and Ocean Studies (KUFOS) from 2010 to 2015. He is currently a Member of International Group of Experts on World Ocean, the Antarctic Legislation Committee of Govt. of India, the CSIR Committee on BIO-fuels, the RAC of CMFRI, the Board of Studies KUFOS, Andhra University, NCAAH-CUSAT. He has numerous international research publications to his credit.
