The building has a rich history and has had many functions, it has been a hostel for immigrants, offered charitable work to traveling journeymen, served as a student residence, a hotel and a Christian hospice. The listed neighbourhood hotel is a "Berlin original" with a history of more than 100 years. Since 1994 it has been under Berlin City Mission management.
