Dr Adam Woo

Dr Adam Woo is a Consultant in Pain Management and Anaesthesia at King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. His interests include back and neck pain, neuropathic pain, fibromyalgia, headaches and pain in children. He also relieves pain by administering spinal injections, nerve blocks and acupuncture for suitable cases. Dr Woo graduated with distinction from University College London and undertook his anaesthetic and pain management training at University College London and Royal Free Hospitals. He obtained his Masters in Pain Management from Edinburgh in 2010. His advanced pain training was completed at St Thomas' Hospital where he gained experience in more invasive therapies like spinal cord stimulation and in psychological treatments within pain management programmes. He also gained experience in cancer pain at St Christopher's Hospice and in paediatric pain at Great Ormond Street Children's Hospital. Dr Woo is an active member of the Pain Management faculty of the Royal College of Anaesthetists and the International Association for the Study of Pain.

Dr Alex Kumar

Alex is a Consultant in Anaesthesia and Pain Management with extensive experience gained during Fellowships in the UK and in Canada. He specialises in the use of Pain Medicine to enable rehabilitation after injury or trauma to improve function and quality of life. This is achieved through a truly holistic, multi disciplinary approach combining targeted intervention, medication and pain therapy tailored to the patient. Alex holds Consultant appointments at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital and King's College Hospital. He runs a clinic at Pure Sports Medicine in Kensington and performs intervention at The Lister Hospital and other Private Hospitals across London.

Dr Amit Patel

Dr Patel is a Consultant Physician at King's College Hospital where he specialises in respiratory medicine. This includes the investigation and management of cough, COPD, asthma, pneumonia, lung cancer, pleural disease, respiratory failure, sleep apnoea, sarcoidosis, interstitial lung disease, bronchiectasis, breathlessness of unknown cause and other respiratory conditions. Dr Patel lectures on areas of respiratory medicine and is actively involved in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching. He is a member of various professional and specialist bodies and he continues to engage in research in respiratory medicine. Dr Patel graduated from King's College London in 2001 and he became a member of the Royal College of Physicians (UK) in 2005. He undertook postgraduate training in respiratory and general medicine at some of the country's leading hospitals including King's College Hospital, St Thomas' Hospital and the Royal Brompton Hospital.

Dr Atul Gupta is a Senior Paediatric Respiratory Consultant and Senior Lecturer at the Centre for Paediatric Respiratory in King's College Hospital. He is the clinical lead for asthma and specialises in all areas of paediatric respiratory medicine including asthma, allergy, hay fever, chronic cough, recurrent chest infections, sleep medicine, wheezy infants, cystic fibrosis, lung diseases and snoring. Dr Gupta is an active member of the respiratory research team at King's and his research interests centre on asthma and airway disease. He has written widely on a range of respiratory related conditions and has over 50 peer reviewed papers as well as reviews. Dr Gupta has lectured internationally in Europe, the USA, United Arab Emirates and India. Dr Gupta is on on the specialist register for paediatrics and is fully accredited in paediatrics and paediatric respiratory medicine. DR Gupta has also received the following awards:

Dr Bazo Raheem

Dr Raheem joined King's College Hospital as a Consultant Neurologist in 2020 having previously worked as a Consultant Neurologist in South East London. He completed his medical degree with distinction in Clinical Sciences at Guy's, King's and St Thomas' Medical school, University of London, in 2008 and became a member of the Royal College of Physicians in 2011. He undertook his General Medical and specialist Neurology training including a fellowship in Stroke/Neurovascular medicine in teaching hospitals both in London and the South East of England. At King's he serves as an attending consultant to the Tertiary Neurosciences unit and sees acutely unwell Neurology patients both on an inpatient and outpatient basis. He runs both a General Neurology service seeing patients from the full breadth of Neurological illness and a specialist clinic in Headache disorders. He is currently the chair of the South East London Headache Medication Optimisation committee and is passionate about individualised care for Neurology patients.

Dr Benjamin Hope

Dr Ben Hope joined King's College Hospital as a GI consultant in 2012, having trained in national referral centres in New Zealand and Ireland. His research interests include inflammatory bowel disease and coeliac disease. The majority of children with GI upset are ultimately given a "functional" diagnosis such as irritable bowel syndrome and Dr Hope aims to quickly identify what the problem is with a minimum of invasive procedures so that the child receives the most suitable intervention.

Dr Daniel Sado

Dr Daniel Sado is a Consultant Cardiologist and the clinical and academic lead of the cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) imaging service at King's College Hospital. As well as general cardiology, Dr Sado has particular interests in heart failure, heart imaging and inherited heart diseases. In his work with patients, research volunteers and colleagues, Dr Sado's values are based on integrity, honesty, openness, empathy and understanding. Using these and other skills his overall aim is to strive to provide the highest possible quality of clinical care, research, leadership and management in healthcare. Dr Sado has won international, national and regional prizes for his research and has published over 80 articles in peer reviewed medical literature. His work spans fields including CMR, heart failure, hypertension, inherited heart disease, iron overloading and resuscitation. Dr Sado has a big involvement in medical education, both as a teacher and as a developer of learning events. He is the first chair of the British Society of CMR training committee and he organises and leads London specialist registrar training days in cardiovascular imaging. He provides heart failure and CMR training to consultants, junior doctors, students and allied health professionals. He has formal medical education qualifications and has won awards for his teaching.

Dr Daniele Avenoso

Dr Daniele Avenoso is a consultant haematologist in stem cell transplantation at King's College Hospital. After his medical degree in Genoa (Italy) in 2011 at University of Genoa, he started his specialty training in haematology at the same University and obtained his CCT in 2017. He spent a year of his specialty training at Hammersmith Hospital in London (UK). Since 2017 he worked as stem cell transplant consultant in Italy, and he moved to King's College Hospital in 2019 accepting a consultant position in BMT and ambulatory care. In 2020 he obtained his PhD in translation haematology (research project in miRNA and MDS). He is a member of the ALWP and CMWP of the EBMT and is interested in clinical trials in transplantation. His research area focuses on GVHD, alternative donors and new conditioning regimens.

Dr David McCormick

Dr McCormick is Clinical Director of Child Health and a Consultant Paediatrician with specialist interest in neurorehabilitation and epilepsy. He trained at Otago Medical School in New Zealand before completing his postgraduate training in the UK and in Australia. He lectured at UCLH London for three years researching perinatal brain injury before joining King's. Dr McCormick cares for children with all forms of epilepsy, children that have acquired brain injuries or chronic neurological disorders (including cerebral palsy and gives advice on current condition, care needs and prognosis for medicolegal claims.

Dr Deepak Joshi

Dr Joshi is a Consultant Hepatologist at the Institute of Liver Studies at King's College Hospital. He graduated from King's in 2001 and trained in hepatology at the Institute of Liver Studies for 5 years. During this time he undertook a PhD examining the predictors of fibrosis in patients following liver transplantation. Dr Joshi completed his endoscopy and ERCP training at University College London Hospitals. Dr Joshi is the co-author of Hepatology at a Glance and has also written a multitude of papers, reviews and book chapters. He also has a keen interest in clinical research including the predictors of fibrosis.

Dr Devi Subramanian

Dr Devi Subramanian has been a Consultant in Obstetrics and Fetal Medicine at King's College Hospital since 2008. Dr Subramanian is currently the lead for the labour ward at the hospital and specialises in high risk obstetrics and intra partum care. She is the lead for surgical management of morbidly adherent placenta, postdates pregnancy and the obstetric lead for venous thromboembolism in pregnancy. Dr Subramanian was awarded membership of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (MRCOG) in 2002 and the fellowship (FRCOG) in 2014. She undertook all of her specialist training in obstetrics and gynaecology in London and was awarded the certificate of completion of training (CCT) in 2008. Dr Subramanian is actively involved in teaching and training and especially simulation training.

Dr Emma Hollick

Dr Hollick is a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon and her specialist interest is cornea, including modern corneal transplant surgery (lamellar surgery and descemets stripping endothelial keratoplasty). Dr Hollick qualified from the Oxford University and trained in Ophthalmology mainly at Moorfields Eye Hospital. She gained her research MD (higher degree) at St Thomas' Hospital and started as Consultant Ophthalmic surgeon at King's College hospital in 2004.

Dr Fiona Norwood

Dr Norwood is a Consultant Neurologist undertaking both general and subspecialty neurology practice. She heads the acute inpatient neurology team at King's. She has a specialist interest in all aspects of muscle diseases and myasthenia gravis. Specific research interests include pregnancy in patients with myasthenia gravis and muscle disease. Dr Norwood studied medicine at Guy's & St Thomas' Hospital and undertook a PhD on structural and protein biochemistry in Cambridge. After completion of her specialty training she was appointed as a Consultant at King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust becoming the Lead Clinician in 2008.

Dr Ian Webb

Dr Ian Webb was appointed Consultant Cardiologist at King's College Hospital in 2014. He specialises in interventional cardiology but has experience in all aspects of cardiology care including heart failure, arrhythmias, valvular heart disease, hypertension and cardiovascular risk assessment. Dr Webb qualified in medicine from Oxford University in 2000 during which time he was awarded an MA in physiology and pharmacology. He undertook postgraduate training in medicine and cardiology in London and the south east before obtaining a prestigious British Heart Foundation research scholarship to study at King's College London. He was awarded his PhD thesis in molecular cardiology from the University of London in 2010. Dr Webb subsequently undertook training in interventional and structural heart cardiology at Guy's and St Thomas' Hospital and King's College Hospital. He was awarded a Boston Scientific Interventional Fellowship to the Wellington Heart Centre in New Zealand.

Dr Jan Hoffmann is a Clinical Reader at King's College London and a Honorary Consultant in Neurology at King's College Hospital. He qualified at the Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin (Germany) where he also obtained his doctoral degree. Following a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of California San Francisco he worked at the Headache Center at the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf before he relocated to London to his current position., Dr Hoffmann is an internationally recognised specialist in Headache and Facial Pain Disorders. He has published extensively in the field including the European Headache Federation treatment guidelines for Idiopathic Intracranial Hypertension (IIH). Currently he serves as an Associate Editor for Cephalalgia, the Journal of Oral & Facial Pain and Headache, as well as for Frontiers in Pain Research. , Dr Hoffmann is a Member of the Board of Trustees of the International Headache Society (IHS). Within the International Headache Society he also serves as a member of the Science and Research Committee and the Emerging Therapies Special Interest Group. He also serves as Council Member and Treasurer of the British Association for the Study of Headache (BASH). ,

Dr John Bladen

Dr John Bladen is a highly specialised Consultant Ophthalmologist and Oculoplastic Surgeon working at Kings College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust looking after adults and children. He has world class expertise in cancers of the eyelid and orbit. He completed his ophthalmology training at the world-renowned Moorfields Eye Hospital including in a fellowship in Oculoplastic Surgery, followed by a second fellowship at Queen Victoria Hospital, a specialist tertiary centre focused on transformative reconstructive surgery and burns care. John studied Medicine at Imperial College London, where he also gained a BSc in Pharmacology, qualifying in 2003. He attained his Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons (MRCS) in 2006 and became a Fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists (FRCOphth) in 2014. John won the prestigious Fight for Sight Clinical Research Fellowship for his PhD investigating the molecular basis of eyelid cancer. He was awarded his PhD in Cancer Genomics in early 2017 and won 9 prizes for his outstanding international research including the prestigious Moorfields Research Medal in 2017 and twice winner of the British Oculoplastic Surgical Society Best Scientific Paper Prize. John specialises in all aspects of oculoplastic, orbital and cataract surgery. He is committed to providing safe and effective treatments to patients requiring cosmetic and reconstructive eyelid surgery and management of lacrimal disease including endonasal treatment of the watery eye. He provides personalized cancer treatments for each patient as a gold standard approach.

Dr Jonathan Byrne

A large part of Dr Byrne's practice is concerned with the treatment of coronary artery disease including angioplasty and stent procedures. He also treats patients with valvular heart disease with new treatments which do not require an operation such as TAVI (transcatheter aortic valve implantation) and Mitraclip (percutaneous treatment of the mitral valve). Dr Byrne performs a number of imaging tests for the heart including transoesophageal echocardiography and cardiac CT scanning. Dr Byrne qualified from the University of Bristol and was awarded a PhD from the University of London in 2004. He undertook interventional cardiology training at Kings from 2005-06 and subsequently as a Boston Scientific fellow in Western Canada in 2006-07

Dr Jordi Serra

Dr Serra received his medical degree from the University of Barcelona in 1988 and his Neurology specialty in 1992. He spent the next two and a half years at the Neuromuscular Unit of Good Samaritan Hospital and Oregon Health Sciences University in Portland, Oregon, USA, where he specialized in the study, diagnosis and treatment of neuropathic pain patients. During this period, he was trained in the technique of microneurography. This is the only available technique to detect positive sensory phenomena (i.e. pain and paraesthesia) originating in peripheral nerves. His expertise also lies in the areas of electromyography, nerve conduction studies, evoked potentials, quantitative sensory testing, thermography, and intraoperative electrophysiological monitoring. He cofounded both the Pain section of the American Academy of Neurology and the Neuropathic Pain Group of the Spanish Society of Neurology, where he served as the first Chairman. He is a member of the International Association for the Study of Pain (IASP), the British Society of Clinical Neurophysiology and the British Peripheral Nerve Society. Dr Serra has authored many scientific journal articles and book chapters. He is a frequent invited speaker and organizes courses on neuropathic pain. He also serves as a reviewer for several scientific journals. Since 2014, he has been a Consultant in Clinical Neurophysiology at King's College Hospital, London.

Dr Katherine George

Dr Katherine George is a Consultant Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon specialising in conditions of the face. Dr Cuthill is a Consultant Haematologist, with a special interest in plasma cell disorders, at King's College Hospital. Having completed training in clinical haematology at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust, Dr Cuthill completed a PhD in chronic lymphocytic leukaemia and the tumour microenvironment at King's College Hospital. As a member of the plasma cell disorders service at King's College Hospital, Dr Cuthill is actively involved in clinical research and keenly participates in clinical trials. Dr Cuthill is fully trained in the assessment of patients for, and delivery of, CAR-T therapy, a highly specialised new therapy that has recently been licenced for certain patients with relapsed high grade B cell lymphomas and acute lymphoblastic leukaemia. She delivers this within a dedicated specific team for this therapy at King's College Hospital.
