DR KADE PATERSON

Kade Paterson is Lakeside Sports Medicine Centre's senior podiatrist. Kade was the second person in Australia to become a Certified Sports Podiatrist from the Australian Podiatry Association. He has completed a Bachelor of Applied Science (Honours), a Bachelor of Podiatry and a PhD investigating neuro-mechanical changes in active, older adults. He is an Executive Board member and Victorian Director for the Australasian Academy of Podiatric Sports Medicine, and is on the Victorian State Council for Sports Medicine Australia. Kade's expertise lies in managing difficult foot and lower limb injuries in professional, amateur and recreational athletes of all ages and abilities. He deals with exercise-related foot and lower leg pain, including heel and forefoot pain, tendinopathies and stress fractures, as well as other foot problems such as skin and nail conditions. He has worked widely with a number of elite football and basketball clubs, tennis players and track and field athletes. He is currently the Sports Podiatrist for Melbourne United basketball club in the NBL, and he was previously a biomechanical consultant for the Collingwood Football Club. Kade also holds a Post-doctoral Research Fellowship with the Centre for Health, Exercise and Sports Medicine (CHESM) at The University of Melbourne, where he works part-time researching conservative treatment options for musculoskeletal conditions such as osteoarthritis and plantar heel pain (plantar fasciitis). This combination of clinical and research experience ensures that Kade's patient care is based upon current therapeutic research and practice within podiatric sports medicine. His academic position at The University of Melbourne also brings a strong understanding of the many of other factors that can contribute to injuries in athletes. He has published over 45 peer-review journal papers on lower limb conditions and biomechanics, and has had >20 invited and keynote conference presentations in Australia and internationally.

KHANH TRAN

Khanh is a Senior Physiotherapist at Lakeside Sports Medicine Centre with a strong interest in sports physiotherapy. He graduated with first class honours from the University of Queensland in 1996 and moved to Melbourne in 2008. For over 10 years he was a clinician and a partner in one of the largest and most respected sports physiotherapy groups in Brisbane, with sports experience that includes working with Brisbane Premier Division Football, and GPS Schools Rugby. Since coming to Melbourne he has embraced Victoria's love of AFL, having been involved with Norwood in the EFL and been a physiotherapist for the Eastern Ranges TAC Cup Team. He has also assisted the Brisbane Roar on their Melbourne A-League matches. Currently he is consulting to Tri-alliance triathlon group and FFV State League teams. In recent years Khanh has travelled with Australian Orthopaedic Association Outreach Groups to Vietnam presenting and running workshops on post-operative and outpatient physiotherapy management. Khanh completed his Masters of Business Administration (Executive) in 2011 and is a member of the AICD.

NICK LEMAN

Nick is a physiotherapist from Melbourne with a strong background in elite sport having worked for the past 10 years in professional football (soccer). Nick is a keen runner & triathlete and previously competed in Surf Lifesaving, winning an Australian title in the 2km run in 2014. Nick worked as a physiotherapist for Melbourne Heart FC / Melbourne City FC from 2012-16 and then moved to the USA to work as the High Performance Director for the Seattle Reign FC from 2016-2021. He moved back to Melbourne in 2021 to work as the head physio for the Melbourne Victory FC. Nick has also supported some of Australia's leading runners on training camp in California and Australia, and has spent time in Japan & New Zealand working with individual athletes. ​ Nick has a strong interest in treating runners & triathletes as well as team sport athletes. He has a dual physiotherapy and strength & conditioning background and has a special interest in high level athlete rehab.
