I learned to cook from my mother in Ohio. When I was ten, Santa left me my first cookbook. It arrived with a tiny oven and cake mixes that were just the right size for me. The rest is history! Inspired by my love of adventure, I continued expanding my repertoire in the kitchens of Switzerland, Guatemala, Mexico City, Paris, and London... I trained as a cook at the San Francisco Zen Center and Tassajara Mountain Center and apprenticed twice at Chez Panisse in Berkeley. The experiences in these kitchens deepened my understanding of the connection between family, friends, and food. I understand that hospitality is the foundation for any memorable celebration of any size; after all, there are a thousand ways to celebrate.
