David R. Cayemitte - CEO

Job Titles:
  • Chief Executive Officer
  • President / the Cayemitte Group, Inc.
David Cayemitte founded The Cayemitte Group with an unwavering commitment to provide his clients with excellent insurance products, competitive prices, sound advice and outstanding service. He founded not-for-profit Minority Business Development Institute to solve the minority bonding issue. He has the knowledge and expertise to do so. For more than 20 years, David led management and underwriting teams with Fortune 100 insurers, developing complex financial executive liability programs for all types of organizations. David began his career at industry leader, American International Group (AIG), honing both credit and financial analytical skills over a 14-year tenure. He gained extensive experience underwriting and managing products, including: Directors & Officers Liability, Employment Practice Liability, Pension Trust Liability, Crime, Bond exposures, General Partnership Liability and Venture Capital Liability. As Vice President of National Union, AIG, he expanded his broad experience in underwriting, building and managing portfolios from $30 - $150 million in gross written premium. David later joined The St. Paul Travelers Companies as Regional Vice President, where he also managed books of business, including: Investment Advisors, Agents E&O, Miscellaneous E&O, Lawyers E&O and Property & Casualty for financial institutions. At the Cayemitte Group, David has proudly assembled a stellar team of experienced professionals that reflect his dedication to business integrity and the highest standards of excellence. Several years ago, David put forth an idea to focus on MWBE contracting firms to enable this under-served group of business owners obtain surety bonding. While TCG focuses on minority bonding issues and non-standard markets, David's goal was to enable this group of business owners to become educated and obtain bonding in a standard market. In 2009 TCG first partnered with DASNY in formalizing and managing the DASNY Bond Education and Capital Access Program. This comprehensive program has proven successful and many of the participants have graduated the program with bond lines. We believe that many of these firms, if taught the financial acumen of running an organization correctly will succeed, prosper and enrich their communities with jobs. David's experience with minority bonding issues led to the development of this extensive program. In late 2010, David founded MBDI to focus specifically on bonding readiness and capital access for minority and women contractors. Too often a number of minor issues prevent a contractor from being able to reach the next level. His expertise in this area can allow him to evaluate a contractor's ability to obtain bonding very quickly and formulate a plan to overcome obstacles. Some of the issues include credit scores, capitalization of the company, financial presentation and other relevant issues. David holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Finance from Adelphi University. He shares his broad knowledge and experience in the insurance field by serving as an adjunct professor at Columbia University and City University in New York (CUNY) and lectures on the topics of insurance bonding and risk management. As a former member of the U.S. National Soccer Team, David is a developmental trainer for youth soccer players and enjoys skiing.
