Erica Stewart

Erica Stewart grew up in Aberdeen, SD and graduated from Central High School. She was a nanny for one year in Northampton, MA prior to attending NSU in Aberdeen wherein she received a Bachelor's of Arts Degree in Sociology. Go Wolves! She moved to Sioux Falls in 1995 wherein she furthered her education and obtained an Associate's Degree for Paralegal Studies. Erica is Melissa Nicholson Breit's assistant. She has worked with Melissa at Nicholson Law since 2004; though has worked in the legal field in Sioux Falls since 1998. Erica and her husband, Brent, and have two boys, Jack and Isaac, and a Havanese dog, Louie. In their spare time, they like to camp and travel with family and friends. Erica enjoys reading, swimming, puzzles and watching movies.

Jayne Brouwer

Jayne Brouwer was born and raised in Round Lake, Minnesota and graduated from Sioux Valley-Round Lake-Brewster High School in 1997. After graduation, she attended one year at the local community college before moving to Colorado as a nanny. In 1999 she moved to Moorhead, Minnesota where she attended one and a half years of college before moving back to Round Lake, Minnesota in 2002. In January of 2003 she started working as a legal secretary at Mork, Darling and Hagemann law firm in Worthington, Minnesota. In 2017, Mork, Darling & Hagemann merged with another local law firm, Flynn and Riordan, where Jayne worked as a legal secretary until she moved to Sioux Falls in June of 2018. Jayne and her husband, Mark, have been married since April of 2018 and have 6 children between the two of them. When they're not transporting their children to various activities they enjoy camping and spending time with family and friends. Jayne enjoys reading, cooking, and traveling.

Shane Vogt

Shane joined Nicholson Law as an associate in 2020. Shane graduated Magna Cum Laude from Southwest Minnesota State University in 2017 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science. Shane then attended the University of Minnesota Law School where he graduated Cum Laude in 2020 with a concentration in business law. In law school, Shane was a student attorney in the Insurance Law Clinic where he gained litigation experience while providing pro bono legal services. Shane was also a member of the Environmental Law Moot Court Team and competed in the National Energy and Sustainability Moot Court Competition where his team's brief ranked third overall. Before graduating from law school, Shane clerked at Nicholson Law for two years and was heavily involved in matters involving family law and divorce, commercial and real estate transactions, probates, estate planning, wills and trusts, corporation and limited liability company (LLC) formation, and business law. Under the guidance and experience of Tom and Melissa, Shane has a general practice consisting primarily of matters in the following areas: Estate Planning, Wills, and Trusts Commercial and Real Estate Transactions Divorce and Family Law Probates General Litigation Construction Law Corporations, LLCs, and Business Law

Tom Nicholson

Tom was born and raised in Winner, South Dakota, received his undergraduate degree from the University of South Dakota, and also graduated from the USD School of Law in 1978. Since 1979 he has been in private practice in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and is a partner in the law firm of Nicholson Law. He has the top designation of an AV peer rated lawyer in Martindale-Hubbell. Tom believes in a logical, practical approach to solving problems; he looks at the circumstances and works with clients to find common sense solutions. Unnecessary expense and posturing do not help the client. He enjoys practicing with his daughter, Melissa, and other firm lawyers and they work well together. That relationship allows them to use a team approach when practical. Tom has worked hard since 1979 to develop positive relationships with clients, other attorneys and judges. He has experience in numerous types of lawsuits dealing with fraud, franchises, trusts, business disputes, land disputes and divorce with substantial assets. He also has extensive experience in business related matters.
