Alyssa Martin

Alyssa joined the OIE team in August 2023 as the Title IX Compliance and Education Specialist. She assists the Title IX Coordinator with case compliance and developing educational and training initiatives for students, staff, and faculty related to Title IX matters. Throughout her career, Alyssa has provided violence prevention and trauma-informed training to over 2,500 students, staff, and faculty at various universities and non-profits, including training medical staff, law enforcement, and state representatives. Prior to joining UConn, Alyssa worked as the Community Outreach and Education Coordinator at New Horizons Domestic Violence Services, where her primary responsibilities included overseeing the development of all education and training, research, and community outreach initiatives. Alyssa has served on several committees, including the Greater Middletown Health Equity Committee, the Wesleyan University Title IX Resource Network Committee, and the Shoreline Legislative Task Force. Alyssa earned her Master of Arts at Brandeis University in Waltham, Massachusetts in Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies, and her Bachelor of Arts in English and History from the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, where she graduated summa cum laude.

Anthony Soto

Anthony Soto joined the Office of Institutional Equity (OIE) in August 2023 as an Equal Employment Opportunity Investigator. In this role, Anthony supports OIE's response to matters relating to the University's non-discrimination policies, including conducting investigations into complaints of discrimination, harassment, and retaliation involving University employees, including those at UConn Health and regional campuses. Anthony is a member of the Association of Workplace Investigators. Prior to joining OIE, Anthony worked with the Connecticut Department of Labor (CTDOL) as a Wage Enforcement Agent. In that role, he conducted investigations into a variety of wage and hour issues including minimum wage violations, overtime violations, nonpayment of all hours worked, final paychecks, fringe benefits, and exemptions. While at the CTDOL he also served in a leadership role in his union where he handled a variety of grievances and often met with management to address employee concerns. Anthony's career in higher education also includes working as a Resident Director with the Office of Residential Life at Assumption College in Worcester, MA. Anthony holds a Bachelor of Arts in Marketing ('10) and a Master of Business Administration ('13) both from Assumption College in Worcester, MA.

Cameron Liston

Job Titles:
  • Title IX Coordinator
Cameron Liston became the University of Connecticut's Title IX Coordinator in April 2023. In this role, Cameron coordinates the university system's response, prevention, and education initiatives pursuant to federal Title IX law and related federal, state, and local laws, statutes, and regulations. He is primarily focused on compliance for UConn's system-wide Title IX Program and student-involved Title IX matters. Prior to becoming the Title IX Coordinator, Cameron worked as the Associate Director of Investigations in UConn's Office of Institutional Equity and previously as the Assistant Director of the Office of University Rights and Responsibilities at Arizona State University. In these roles, Cameron investigated allegations of discrimination and harassment related to university employees. He handled a large volume of reports from intake to completion. Additionally, he developed and implemented office procedures to ensure compliance with institutional policies as well as relevant laws and regulations. Cameron is admitted to practice law before Arizona's state courts. Cameron earned his law degree from Arizona State University's Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law, where he was an Executive Editor on Jurimetrics, The Journal of Law, Science, and Technology. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish Linguistics from Arizona State University in Tempe, AZ. While at Arizona State University, Cameron was a member of the Cross County and Track and Field teams, earning First Team Pac-12 Conference All Academic honors.

Deborah Redshaw

Deborah Redshaw joined the Office of Institutional Equity (OIE) in 2009 and is currently the Title IX Project Specialist and Budget Specialist. In her role as Title IX Project Specialist, Deborah assists the Title IX Coordinator by working collaboratively with on and off-campus partners on sexual harassment and sexual violence prevention and education efforts to ensure UConn's commitment to creating and maintaining a campus environment free from all forms of sexual violence, harassment, exploitation, and intimidation. As the Budget Specialist, Deborah assists the Associate Vice President in developing and monitoring the OIE departmental budgets. She is responsible for reviewing and processing OIE's financial transactions and maintaining all related records. Previously, Deborah worked at UConn as the Budget Specialist for the Vice Provost of Multicultural and International Affairs (OMIA). She assisted in developing and monitoring OMIA unit budgets, including the centers and institutes within OMIA. She also spent nine years at the Connecticut State University System Office and was the Supervisor of the Operations Support Unit in the Information Technology (IT) Department. This team was responsible for budgeting, purchasing, accounts payable, Request for Proposal development and contract review within IT. In this role, she worked closely with the System's finance department and each of the universities' (Central Connecticut State University, Eastern Connecticut State University, Southern Connecticut State University and Western Connecticut State University) IT departments.

Hanna Prytko

Hanna Prytko joined the Office of Institutional Equity in January 2005. As Manager of EEO and Search Compliance, Hanna is responsible for managing the daily activities of OIE's EEO and Search Compliance staff and ensuring UConn's compliance with state and federal guidelines, regulations and laws related to equal employment opportunity and affirmative action in the search and hiring process. Additionally, Hanna is responsible developing the state and federal affirmative action plans for the University, producing various reports for monitoring workforce diversity goals and ensuring all state and federal reporting requirements are met. She also provides guidance on the search process, search training and related projects. Hanna graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in History from Fordham University and has passed the State of Connecticut Equal Employment Opportunity Specialist 1 and 2 examinations. Prior to joining OIE, Hanna worked for Eber Brother Metro in New York for 12 years.

Katherine Kenyon

Katherine Kenyon joined the Office of Institutional Equity as a Training & Search Compliance Specialist in March 2006 and has served as an Education and Training Specialist since July 2022. Katherine is responsible for the maintenance and accuracy of search files and related records that are essential to the operation of the office and the University's efforts to comply with Federal and State record-keeping requirements. Additionally, Katherine is responsible for responding to daily inquiries from search committee administrators and representatives across the University regarding the search process and hiring activities. Also, she regularly provides training sessions to members of the University community on the search process and recruitment strategies. Katherine also contributes to the writing of both the University's state and federal Affirmative Action Plans.

Lauren Donais

Lauren joined the Office of Institutional Equity (OIE) as Title IX Program & Training Specialist in February 2019 and has served as Director of Education and Training since July 2022. Lauren designs and delivers many of OIE's Title IX-related training and education sessions for students and employees. Lauren also works collaboratively with campus and community stakeholders to coordinate comprehensive, research-based prevention, intervention, and response efforts across the University system. In her role, Lauren also assists with programmatic efforts including coordinating strategic Title IX compliance efforts across all campuses, with a focus on the administration of campus climate surveys, assisting with setting the strategic direction of many of OIE's working groups and committees, and engaging in community outreach. From April 2013 to January 2019 Lauren served as the University's Violence Against Women Prevention Program (VAWPP) Coordinator where she recruited, trained, and supervised the Women's Center's VAWPP Peer Facilitators, managed Greeks Against Sexual Assault (GASA) and Men's Project, instructed the Rape Education & Awareness Seminar (WGSS 3271), provided immediate short-term crisis support and advocacy to students, staff, and faculty, and contributed to collaborative, multidisciplinary committee work to identify and fill gaps in training, education, and resources available to all campus constituents. Additionally she conceptualized and conducted a number of evaluation studies, collected and analyzed data, and utilized findings to measure program efficacy, inform enhancements, and add to existing gender-based violence prevention literature. Prior to returning to her alma mater, where she received her BA in Human Development & Family Studies and Women's Studies, she spent five years splitting her time between the Women & Gender Resource Action Center and Health Center at Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut. While at Trinity College, Lauren earned her Master's of Arts in Public Policy & Law.

Lily Schaefer-Calderon

Lily joined the Office of Institutional Equity as the Graduate Assistant in August 2023 where she assists OIE staff in all areas of work. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in English and Education with a minor in Women's and Gender Studies from Merrimack College. While at Merrimack College, Lily worked in the Dean of Students Office as the Community Standards Intern where she focused primarily on developing bystander intervention practices for the community. Before beginning at UConn, she also completed an internship with New York University's Office of Residential Life where she assisted with conduct procedures for their summer residents. Lily is currently studying Higher Education Student Affairs (HESA) at UConn and hopes to continue working at colleges and universities in the future.

Sarah Chipman

Sarah serves as Director of Investigations and Deputy Title IX Coordinator. In that role, Sarah manages OIE's response to complaints of discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and related interpersonal violence involving University employees at the Storrs, Regional and UConn Health campuses, and guides the investigative staff in managing all aspects of case investigation and the production of investigative reports. In addition, Sarah trains members of the University community on policies and procedures related to preventing and responding to reports of discrimination, harassment, retaliation and sexual violence. Sarah joined OIE in 2014 and previously served as an EEO Investigator and as Associate Director of Investigations before stepping into the role of Director of investigations and Deputy Title IX Coordinator in January 2017. From August 2020 to August 2021, Sarah served as OIE's Interim Associate Vice President and as UConn's Interim Title IX Coordinator and ADA Coordinator. In this role, Sarah was responsible for overseeing each of OIE's areas of focus, including discrimination case management, campus-wide trainings for diversity awareness and sexual harassment prevention, search and hiring affirmative action and equal employment opportunity compliance, coordinating the University's response to reports of sex-based discrimination, including sexual harassment and sexual violence, and working collaboratively with on and off-campus partners on various diversity and harassment prevention initiatives. Prior to joining the University, Sarah worked as an attorney for an employment law firm in Simsbury, CT representing both management and employees. In that position, Sarah handled cases involving all aspects of employment law, including discrimination, harassment, retaliation, unpaid wage claims, employment agreement negotiations and disputes, and unemployment compensation matters. In this capacity, Sarah handled claims of sexual harassment, as well as claims of race, age, gender, disability, and national origin discrimination. She frequently appeared in administrative proceedings before the Connecticut Commission on Human Rights and Opportunities (CHRO), the Connecticut Department of Labor, and the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination. In addition to her litigation matters, Sarah drafted and revised employee handbooks and workplace policies and counseled both employers and employees as to disciplinary matters and processing of requests for reasonable accommodations for employees with disabilities. Sarah is admitted to practice law in the State and Federal courts of Connecticut and Massachusetts. Sarah earned her law degree from Western New England University School of Law in Springfield, Massachusetts, and her Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Central Connecticut State University.

Stephanie Hackett

Stephanie Hackett serves OIE as the Deputy ADA Coordinator. She has over 10 years of experience in ADA compliance, including the implementation and provision of accommodations in the academic and living environments of the post-secondary world. Stephanie provides direction and support to ensuring compliance with the ADA, as well as Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act for UConn and UConn health, as well as assisting in the grievance process for the Center for Students with Disabilities. Stephanie holds a Bachelor of Arts in History from UConn (CLAS'10) and a Master of Science in College Student Development and Counseling from Northeastern University (Bouve'14).

Susan Hoge

Susan Hoge joined the Office of Institutional Equity (OIE) in July 2016. Susan serves as the Executive Assistant to Letissa Reid, Associate Vice President (AVP), Title IX Coordinator and ADA Coordinator. She is responsible for performing a wide range of administrative and support activities for the AVP as well as the office. Prior to joining OIE, Susan was an Administrative Manager at UConn's Institute for Collaboration on Health, Intervention and Prevention (InCHIP). Her career in higher education also includes working as a Classification and Compensation Analyst in the Department of Human Resources at the University of California, San Francisco. Susan graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from San Diego State University.

Theresa Segar

Theresa Segar has worked as an Affirmative Action Specialist for the Office of Institutional Equity since July 2005. In her position, Ms. Segar prepares UConn Health's affirmative action plan. She updates, administers and monitors the affirmative action program by working closely with Human Resources to obtain information, and acts as a resource on affirmative action requirements. She also assists in planning and presenting programs on affirmative action issues. Prior to joining UConn Health's OIE, Theresa worked for the State of Connecticut Department of Public Health as an Affirmative Action Program Manager and the State of Connecticut Department of Public Works as an Affirmative Action Officer. Overall, she has more than twenty years of state service in Affirmative Action planning, and is a member of the State of Connecticut Association of Diversity and Equity Professionals where she has served as a Co-Chair of the Program Planning Committee and Corresponding Secretary.
