Marty Anderson started Outside the Square after a career in teaching, and from a background of photography. Originally based in a home studio Outside the Square soon located into heritage style buildings in Tuam St, Lichfield St and then later Poplar Lanes. These great spaces were the base from where great design began and was refined by a team, for clients across the country. Unfortunately the events of Sept 2010, and then the major earthquake of February 2011 meant that all these buildings collapsed and were demolished, and with it a base for Outside the Square. With massive changes in community and work Marty became heavily involved in community resilience and response, while developing a line of tee shirts under the Martees brand, kickstarted by the world famous "Munted" tee shirt.
