With the change came the introduction of computers and digital printing to the business. This necessitated a name change. Port City Signs became Port City Signs & Graphics Inc., a name which reflected the conversion to wide-format digital printing and the expansion in product offerings... The story of Port City Signs & Graphics Inc. starts during the post-WWII boom. We are Wilmington's oldest sign company, begun in 1948 by Robert Barefoot as Port City Signs, an artisan sign-painting operation. Barefoot passed the reigns to his protégé Fred Maurer, who grew up in the sign-painting business and continued to develop our tradition of solid customer service... Our familiarity and understanding of our community and the companies that operate here allow us to uniquely serve our clients' needs.
