Asma Jahan Huque - Managing Director

Engr. Asma Huque is the Managing Director of Prokaushali Sangsad Ltd., Bangladesh. She has wide experience in management of Renewable energy projects in the rural and urban sectors of Bangladesh. Her experience includes feasibility studies, Socio-economic Survey, technology assessment in RET, Program/Project design, implementation, and supervision in rural and renewable energy sector and the environment, conducting technical training on Solar Home Systems for rural application. Some of these involved surveys of grid and off-grid rural electrification service by public and private sectors; Review of alternative supply options (grid electrification, decentralized local supplies and Solar Home Systems-SHS) in provision of rural electrification services; Delivery mechanisms and institutional arrangements including the role of Private sector organizations, NGOs and REB/PBSs; Modeling institutional arrangements for carrying out credit and pay-for-service based SHS program, etc. She has worked as Team Leader and project manager for many assignments. As a team leader she has completed warehouse facility visits for result-based financing (RBF) project of CLASP (RBF 6-15) to verify that televisions for off-grid application have been purchased by the POs of IDCOL in Bangladesh. The team visited the warehouses and reported their findings to CLASP. Ms. Asma Huque is working as the Monitoring specialist for the KfW funded project "Productive Use of Renewable Energy Programme (PUREP)" implemented by IDCOL. She is also working as the team leader for a CDM project UNFCCC#10077 as the local counterpart of NE climate A/S. She was the Local Team Leader for Technical and Financial Monitoring of implementation of IDCOL's Solar Home Systems project undertaken with funds from KfW, Germany. Ms. Huque has also carried out Monitoring and evaluation related consultancy work for the project "Improved Capacity for Energy Access" (ICEA) designed to provide Assistance for Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC), funded by USAID (2008-2010). Her past work in micro-enterprise development for women in renewable energy technology applications has achieved the recognition of Ashden award. She was responsible for Design and supervision of installation of the country's first commercially operating 100KW Solar Mini-grid in Sandwip. She was in charge of data processing and analysis of projects: Ms. Asma Huque has a Master's degree in Industrial Engineering & Management from Asian Institute of Technology, Bangkok, Thailand, and Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology. She also received training on Wind Energy Applications offered by NREL, Colorado, in Texas and Washington DC, Nov-Dec 2000.

Hasna J. Khan

Hasna Khan provided technical support for engineering consultancy service for renewable energy project development with extensive experience in rural energy and environment of international standards.She has worked as International Consultant, prepared the Project Implementation Plan for Sustainable Rural Energy Project for Bangladesh under SEMP Program of UNDP, 1999. She has performed scoping studies for wind, biogas plant and micro hydro, supporting the rural energy program with LGED. She participated in the Draft Policy Paper preparation with the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources of the Government of Bangladesh, 1996-1997.She also worked as Senior Consultant for Market Assessment Survey of Solar PV Application in Bangladesh. She worked as Senior Consultant for Socio-economic Survey of Solar PV Applications in Rural Electrification: Narshingdi Solar Electrification Project in 1998. She assessed the overall performance and acceptability of Solar PV systems installed through the government's (REB/PBS) project in three islands of Narsingdi. The study also made Hasna J. Khan has completed her PhD. and M.Sc. in Nuclear Engineering from University of Washington. She has completed her B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from BUET. She is a member of ASME and G8 Task Force for Renewable Energy. She has also undertaken Siemens Course on Solar PV Design in 1996.
