Despite the rumor that I was present for the signing of the original Magna Carta, it is true I've practiced law for a long time; longer than I would have dreamed. And even now, after so many years, I still cannot imagine doing anything else. Retirement? No. Nada. Nein. Sharks have to keep swimming to stay alive. Besides, how can one retire when he has the pleasure of living and working in two of the most beautiful venues in the country, Portland and Bend, Oregon? Most of my legal practice has involved real estate; either transactional - where I help put deals together - or litigation, where I have become involved when clients try to take them apart. As a result, thanks to the vagaries of our economy, regulatory flip-flops, and human foibles, I rarely suffer for a lack of interesting work.
