Amish V. Shah

Dr. Amish Shah earned his medical degree at the University of Maryland and now specializes in Cardiology. Amish completed his Internal Medicine residency at Hahnemann University Hospital in Philadelphia and completed his Cardiology training at Albert Einstein College of Medicine/Montefiore Medical Center in New York. Growing up in Southern Maryland, Amish is happy to be home and able to give back to the community that helped raise him. Dr. Shah has taken an active role in learning the newest treatments in medicine as well as integrating the latest technology in providing the best patient care. In his spare time, Amish enjoys watching movies, playing tennis, going to Redskins games and spending time with his family.

Dr. Adinath Patil

Dr. Adinath Patil has been with Shah Associates since 1979 and is Board Certified in Cardiology as well as Internal Medicine. "I enjoy taking care of the people of Southern Maryland," says Dr. Patil, "and I get a lot of satisfaction in helping my patients deal with their cardiac conditions and maintain a healthy lifestyle." Adinath completed his internship and residency at City Hospital in New York City and his Cardiology Fellowship at the Deborah Heart - Lung Institute in New Jersey. He is a proud father of three grown children. In his spare time, he enjoys walking, hiking and spending time with his family. In addition, he likes reading history books, keeping up with current world events and visiting national parks.

Dr. Anil K. Shah

"I enjoy the personal interaction I have with patients and sharing a laugh or two," states Dr. Anil K. Shah, Cardiologist with Shah Associates, "in addition to the early detection and primary prevention of serious cardiac disease." Dr. Shah is board certified in both Cardiology and Internal Medicine, though his concentration is on Cardiology. "Dr. A.K.," as he is known to his patients, completed his residency at Mercy Catholic Medical Center in Darby, PA, and his cardiology fellowship at the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond. In his leisure time, Dr. A.K. enjoys spending time with his wife, Dr. Beena Shah, and their two young sons. He also enjoys a good game of cricket or ping pong.

Dr. Arpana Shah

Dr. Arpana Shah is the division chief of Dermatology. Dr. Shah received her medical degree from the Medical College of Pennsylvania and completed her dermatology residency at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City. Dr. Shah's staff includes 2 nurse practioners. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, listening to music and spending time with her husband Amish and their two children. In addition to practicing Dermatology, Arpana is trained in classical Indian dance and loves performing and choreographing various dances.

Dr. Bryan Ego-Osuala

Dr. Bryan Ego-Osuala has practiced Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery (ENT) for over a decade. As a native of Prince George's County, he grew up in Bowie, MD and attended the University of Maryland in College Park as an undergraduate where he studied Cell Biology and Molecular Genetics. He received his Medical Doctorate from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia and was inducted into the Hobart Amory Hare Honor Society of Jefferson Medical College. Dr. Ego-Osuala completed his residency training in Otorhinolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery at the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore MD. After training, Dr. Ego-Osuala practiced as an associate at The Center for Ear, Nose & Throat at Doctors Community Hospital in Lanham MD and Camp Springs MD. During his time at Doctors Community Hospital, Dr. Ego-Osuala was named the Vice-Chairman of the Department of Surgery, Chairman of the Division of Otolaryngology, and the Medical Director of the Center for Ear, Nose & Throat. Dr. Ego-Osuala is a fellow of the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery, a diplomate of the American Board of Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery, and a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Ego-Osuala has come full circle after spending a few years in North Carolina and founded Prince Georges ENT Head & Neck Surgery in October 2019 because of his unrelenting passion to serve his home community. In September 2020, He joined MedStar Shah Medical Group and became the director of the Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery Division. He is highly proficient in all aspects of ENT including (but not limited to) thyroidectomy, parathyroidectomy, parotidectomy, surgical management of head and neck cancer, sinus surgery, tonsillectomy and ear tube insertion. Dr. Ego-Osuala is dedicated to providing the highest standard of professional care to both children and adults. In his spare time, Dr. Ego-Osuala loves traveling with his family. He also loves running, both leisurely and competitively.

Dr. Deidra Varner

Dr. Deidra Varner completed her Medical Degree at the Howard University College of Medicine. She completed her fellowship at Howard University Hospital and is board certified in both Internal Medicine and Cardiology. Deidra spends her free time reading, watching movies and Washington Redskins football games with her kids, family and friends.

Dr. Rakhi Krishnan

Dr. Rakhi Krishnan earned her medical degree at the Patna Medical College in India and now specializes in the study and treatment of Infectious Diseases. Prior to joining Shah Associates, Rakhi practiced at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences. She deals with many infectious diseases including HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis, Lyme diseases & other tick-borne diseases; Dr. Krishnan receives the most pleasure when she is able to see her patients getting better right before her eyes. On weekends, she enjoys reading and participating in all outdoor activities.

Illana Cohen

Dr. Cohen received her degree from the University of Western Ontario, Ontario Canada. She completed her Internship & Residency as well as her two year fellowship in Endocrinology and Metabolism at The New York University Medical Center, New York, NY. Dr. Cohen is Board Certified in Endocrinology and Metabolism as well as in Internal Medicine. She also holds a Bachelor's degree in Psychology.

Laura Riggins

Laura Riggins, MD, FAAFP, originally from Southern Virginia, moved to the Washington DC metro area in 2013. Dr. Riggins completed medical school at the University of Virginia and residency at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ), Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, where she was chief resident during her third year. She is currently a Family Physician with MedStar Medical Group in Fort Washington, Maryland. Dr. Riggins has worked in a variety of settings since graduation from residency, including private practice at Hillsborough Medical Associates, academic medicine at UMDNJ, New Jersey Medical School, and hospital employed practices with Capital Health and Virginia Hospital Center. An avid runner since her track days in grammar school, she has participated in many races from 5ks to a marathon to raise money for cancer research and treatment and helped others to do so as well. She has also been actively involved in her community, participating in health fairs and lectures on chronic medical conditions such as diabetes.

Meena Shah

Meena Shah received her BA from Johns Hopkins University, Maryland in 2001, her MPH from Boston University in 2002 and her MD from University of Maryland School of Medicine in 2006. She is board certified in both Internal Medicine and Cardiology. Her main focus is in preventative cardiology, early intervention, and women's health.

Ms. Ann K Chen, PA, is a Physician Assistant specialist in Prince Frederick, Maryland. She graduated in 2003, having over 17 years of diverse experience, especially in Gastroenterology.

Naila Russell

Nicole Lee

Dr. Lee is a proud native of the DC/Maryland area. Upon completing her residency at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center in 2010, she had the distinct pleasure of providing outstanding primary care to our nation's Veterans in the DC VA Medical Center. She later transitioned to Florida, where she served as Director of the Women's Health Clinic in the Joint Ambulatory Care Center/VA Medical Center in Pensacola, Florida. She then served as an Internist at the Eglin Air Force Base, Internal Medicine Clinic in Eglin AFB, Florida. She recently moved back to the DC/Maryland area and joined MedStar-Shah Medical Group. In her capacity as a board-certified Internal Medicine physician, she takes pride in providing exceptional primary care, where her top priority is maintaining strong, efficient, compassionate, and quality relationships with her patients. She specializes in managing chronic medical conditions requiring thorough care/careful coordination with other specialties. She looks forward to serving our patients with a singular focus of achieving and maintaining wellness.

Sonia Samtani

Dr. Samtani was born and raised in Potomac, MD to physician parents. Upon completion of her high school at the Holton-Arms school in Bethesda, she was awarded a seven year accelerated BS/MD at the George Washington University where she graduated summa cum laude and was inducted into the gold humanism honor society. She then continued her training in Internal medicine at Georgetown University where she was awarded the critical care award for senior resident in the department of medicine who epitomizes the ideals of empathy and excellence in critical care medicine. She then completed her Cardiology fellowship at the University of California, Irvine where she was awarded fellow of the year all three years of her training and was elected as chief fellow in Cardiology. She then continued at UC Irvine for interventional cardiology under the esteemed guidance of Dr. Morton Kern, author of the Cardiac Catheterization Handbook. She is board certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Disease, and Interventional Cardiology. Dr. Samtani has a strong focus on patient education and medical education. She authored multiple chapters in three different textbooks of cardiology with regards to stress testing and interventional cardiology. She has a particular interest in Women's heart and complex coronary interventions with radial access.
