SINVIN - Key Persons

Charlotte Sardet

Job Titles:
  • Director
A native of Cannes, France, Charlotte was introduced to the world of commercial real estate while scouting retail spaces for the expansion of her photography gallery at the time into the New York City market. In the process, Charlotte noticed the dynamic and client-driven nature of the commercial real estate market, ultimately selling her gallery and quickly achieving her goal of becoming a full-time commercial real estate broker in 2013. She started her career in a boutique firm that specializes in high-end retail leasing, learning the ins and outs of commercial real estate transactions. Charlotte then focused on working with investors and owners at the highest end of New York City's luxury residential market as part of the Daniela Kunen Team at Douglas Elliman. In 2018, Charlotte returned to the commercial real estate world, joining former colleague David Baker at Baker New York. While her official title was Director of Client Services, the size and nature of the firm allowed Charlotte opportunities to contribute in countless ways, including active engagement across every stage of every transaction, ensuring outstanding client service and execution along the way. She kept an active eye on openings and opportunities in the market, ensuring consistent and efficient service and idea generation to a highly discerning client base. Charlotte is now a Director and part of the Baker Team at Sinvin, where she continues to assist and advise clients on retail locations, office requirements and other commercial real estate needs. Some of the most recent transactions from David and Charlotte include a retail lease for Dries Van Noten in Los Angeles, an office lease for Jayaram Law in the Flatiron District in New York City, a retail lease for Altuzarra on Madison Avenue in New York City, a showroom lease for an innovative and contemporary furniture company in NoMad in New York City and a building purchase for a production company in Brooklyn.

Christopher Owles

Job Titles:
  • Member of the Leadership Team
  • Principal
Christopher Owles, Principal of Sinvin, has been a driving force in downtown commercial real estate for more than twenty years, purposefully helping both landlords and tenants achieve their goals. Starting with his early careers Owles was driven by an entrepreneurial spirit and developed a keen appreciation for design. He ran an art gallery and then a design firm that specialized in architectural interiors and furniture design. These experiences paved the way to the world of commercial brokerage where his love for design helped him match creative companies with architecturally significant properties. Owles has represented several high-profile tenants with their New York expansions, most prominently Away, Chobani, and James Perse. For each brand he completed multiple assignments, including both retail and office leases. Much of Owles' time is spent on landlord representation projects on high-end retail blocks and he has enjoyed longstanding relationships and repeat business from many of his clients, some of which have now transitioned into a second generation of family ownership. In addition to his notable deals in and around Soho, Owles was instrumental in the early development of the Meatpacking District. He was hired to market three prominent buildings and rented them, totaling more than 150,000 sf, to Soho House, Vitra, Bumble and bumble, and Theory. Owles has been with Sinvin since 1998 and has been an owner, with partner Michael Glanzberg, since 2009. The two jointly grew the mid-sized firm into one of the most active niche brokerages where the firm's focus has remained primarily in New York's downtown markets. Owles' notable accomplishments include both retail and office leasing, as well as investment sales. He is best known for his deep bench of retail work, fluidly guiding both ownership and tenants to secure deals with brands such as Chanel, Chloe, Dior, Fendi, Kenzo, Sonos, Ray Ban, and Tiffany & Co.

James Costello - Managing Director

Job Titles:
  • Managing Director

Jane McVerry - CEO

Job Titles:
  • Senior Managing Director
Jane comes to Sinvin with 20 years of experience in commercial real estate in both investment sales and retail leasing. She began her career at Itzhaki Properties, helping with procurements such as the sale of the Moondance Diner site, now The James Hotel. Quickly realizing her passion for retail commercial real estate, especially that of SoHo, she moved to The Lansco Corporation, strengthening her relationships and growing her network. With a tireless and thoughtful approach to uncovering every opportunity, not simply those "on" the market, Jane has been able to organize buyouts and secure sales based on intuition and foresight. In 2007, when Etro wanted a prime SoHo corner to add to their portfolio, Jane approached the owner of 89 Greene Street, a space not on the market for sale. Using her unconventional wisdom and communication savvy, Jane organized the buyout of the existing storefront deli and secured a sale to Etro. Jane's professional model always involves a detailed analysis of her clients needs before developing the right opportunities and solutions to secure their success. Understanding retail from both investment sales and leasing perspectives, Jane often sells and subsequently leases a property for the new owner, such as 458 Broome Street, leased twice. The buyer of 248 Lafayette Street had been looking to lease themselves when Jane expertly negotiated the purchase of the retail coop they initially occupied for their own business. More recently, Jane leased it for them to the fashion label Maison Kitsune. Jane favors nurturing long term relationships over the transactional elements of real estate, and with this in mind set up her own brokerage company Atria Properties LLC, active 2013-2021. She built a team of dedicated brokers and nurtured a collaborative style with her strong relationships within the industry. During this time Jane sold 250 Bowery to The International Center of Photography, leased 252 Lafayette to Wildfang, procured the sale of 20-26 Greene Street and then leased both stores twice, most recently to Foscarini and Ksubi. Jane also sold 19-21 Greene Street as an off market transaction, and engineered the amalgamation of LeSportsac's office and retail in the SoHo gem that is 32 Greene Street. Jane unfailingly demonstrates that her depth of understanding of all sides of the commercial real estate process and her dedication to providing her clients with the best possible service is her driving force. Born and educated in the UK, Jane has an Economics degree from Newcastle University. She was an economics professor and Head of Business in London for 5 years before making the move to New York, where she has lived since 1999.

Margie Sarway

Job Titles:
  • Senior Director
Firmly planted at the intersection of art and commerce for years, Margie Sarway began her brokerage career as a partner of Azrak-Sarway Art Advisory, working for years with artists, galleries and collectors. The relationships she formed then have lasted, as clients and collaborators have become both tenants and landlords she now represents. When working with galleries, in property leasing and sales, her experience gives her insight into their operations from the inside, and has led to exploration of new market areas and unexpected spaces. The trust earned with honesty and diligence has been a source of pride in every interaction. Interpreting that unique perspective, when working with fashion and design tenants, has enhanced Margie's a creative approach. Working in the arts has an element of storytelling; conveying artists' perspectives, histories and experiences. Each tenant brings their own story to tell, these stories are told through social media, websites and, more personally, through their brick and mortar retail presence. Locations represented have stories of their own, and it's always gratifying to match their history, style, neighborhood and image to tell new stories that complement the brands. Working with Margie and Sinvin, Poggenpohl Kitchens found a new Soho home that could convey their prestige as the oldest kitchen brand in the world, as well as their pioneering history, expertise and craftmanship. When Australian brand Grace Loves Lace wanted to bring their modern perspective on bridal dressing directly to their East Coast on-line customers, she found them a store that conveyed their originality, spirit and high quality. Margie has represented dozens of retailers and restauranteurs, as well thousands of feet of retail and office space throughout Manhattan and her native Brooklyn. She studied fine art at Parson's School of Design, completing her BFA at NYU. Her own story continues at home in Brooklyn, with her husband, 4 children, and dog, Rocco.

Glanzberg serves as the President of the Cooperative of 121 Varick Street, directing the redevelopment of a prime Hudson Square commercial asset.
