Brain Function: Research has shown that blood flow in the two hemispheres of the brain is different when stutterers are compared with fluent speakers. The initial implication was that these differences were involved as a causal factor in stuttering. However, additional research has shown that the brain differences diminished after a behavioral therapy treatment for stuttering. There is a "chicken and egg" problem here.
