SUNSHINE DAY CAMP - Key Persons
Ashley joined Sunshine Day Camp in March of 2019 at the Fair Oaks Ranch location. From the beginning of her time with Sunshine, Ashley was a kid and co-worker favorite. While at Fair Oaks, she worked as a camp counselor and eventually worked her way up to be our head pre-K teacher. When she wasn't doing that, she was helping with administrative tasks.
Chad began his career with Sunshine Day Camp in November of 1992. During his tenure at Sunshine Day Camp, he has held many positions within the company. Chad has been directing Sunshine Day Camp programs since 2007. In fact, he directed three of our facilities before taking the position at Oak Hills.
In addition to his extensive experience at Sunshine Day Camp, Chad has a Bachelor's Degree in Kinesiology and specific education in child development. He also has a Master's Degree in Business. Chad resides locally in Santa Clarita with his two children.
Danielle (Danni), a native of Santa Clarita, began with Sunshine Day Camp in 2012. Danni is an energetic and passionate leader, traits she likely developed at a young age from playing competitive volleyball. She most recently directed at our Mitchell facility before taking the director position at Fair Oaks in June of 2021. During her tenure with us, Danielle has been a counselor, assistant director, interim director, and facility director. In addition to working at Sunshine Day Camp, Danielle brings with her a great deal of educational experience in the field, including all credentials required by the Department of Social Services.
Mick began his career with Sunshine Day Camp in January of 1996. During his tenure, Mick has directed several facilities within the Sunshine Day Camp organization including Stevenson Ranch, Oak Hills, and Valencia Valley. In 2002, he was appointed as regional director (2002-2004) and then Vice President of operations (2004-2013). In 2013, Mick became the Executive Director/CEO at Sunshine Day Camp.
Mick has a Bachelor's Degree in Business and a minor in Child Development (including over 30 units of child development from UCLA and College of the Canyons).
Sam began her career with Sunshine Day Camp in September 2006. She stepped into the role of director in the fall of 2011 at our Pinetree location. She moved over to direct Stevenson Ranch in 2014.
In addition to Sam's professional experience working with children, she has also furthered her education in early childhood education. She continues to expand her knowledge through continuing education and working hands-on with her staff and children at Stevenson Ranch. Sam lives locally in Santa Clarita.
Shelby is her 5 th year with Sunshine Day Camp. From the start of her employment, Shelby has been amazing asset to the Sunshine Day Camp organization. Shelby began at our Pinetree location, and worked there until we temporarily closed the location due to the COVID-19 pandemic. During the Pinetree closure Shelby continued to work at Sunshine Day Camp at our Mitchell and Fair Oaks locations. Before becoming the director at Pinetree, Shelby was working with our PreK children at Fair Oaks in the morning and handling administrative tasks at our Mitchell location in the afternoons.
