With a construction industry career spanning nearly 40 years, Bill Caldwell has held various executive operations and sales management positions in both the general contracting and mechanical subcontracting fields. Caldwell assumed the role of President of Waldrop, Inc. in December 2009 following five years as Waldrop's Vice President of Operations. Soon after joining the firm, Caldwell spearheaded a strategic initiative to expand Waldrop's services, market sectors and geographic footprint. In less than five years, Waldrop's annual business grew by threefold - significantly increasing the equity of the firm and respective shareholder value, In addition, Waldrop's employee base doubled and a formal employee training program was established. Under Caldwell's leadership, Waldrop became the first mechanical contractor in South Carolina to implement a registered apprenticeship program for its employees. The company also celebrated an impressive safety milestone, achieving 1.7 million safe man-hours without a lost-time accident. Before joining Waldrop's executive management team in 2004, Caldwell served as Vice President of Operations for an established Columbia (SC)-based specialty contracting firm. Caldwell expanded the company's geographic presence and led the firm to unprecedented levels of profit growth. At the heart of Caldwell's career history is nearly 25 years with Fluor Daniel where he started as a project accountant immediately following graduation from the University of South Carolina's business school. Caldwell soon grew into increasingly responsible positions in project management, eventually becoming an Executive Director. In this role, Caldwell led the company's effort to diversify and move into the global hospitality and commercial sectors. Caldwell is active in a variety of civic roles, and speaks to industry and collegiate groups about the construction industry. He is an active proponent of workforce development, focusing on bridging the gap between the construction industry and the educational community.

Dennis Pruitt - EVP, President

Dennis Pruitt, P.E., heads up Construction for Waldrop Mechanical Services, the operating division of the company that provides design, construction, equipment replacement, building automation, and maintenance services to the commercial, industrial, institutional, and healthcare market sectors. An 18-year veteran of the construction industry, and a Registered Professional Engineer (P.E.) in South Carolina, Pruitt has held various positions in design engineering, design management and project management, as well as sales and marketing. His construction experience includes turnkey design-build services, project management, preconstruction services and operations. Pruitt joined Waldrop in 2004. As president in charge of Construction, Pruitt leads all Waldrop's construction-related activities including preconstruction, project execution, and shop functions. In this role, he identifies bid opportunities, pursues sales opportunities, supervises the estimating group, manages project design activities, and directs manpower resources for current and future construction projects, while serving as project executive for selected construction assignments. Pruitt's career history includes managing a satellite office for one of South Carolina's largest mechanical contracting firms, and growing that business in the Upstate with demonstrable profit results. Pruitt's contributions have led to Waldrop receiving several high-profile awards for excellence in construction, including national and regional recognition from the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC).

Jamie Porterfield - COO, EVP

Jamie Porterfield heads up Service for Waldrop Inc., the operating division of the company that provides all types of maintenance services, repair services, equipment replacement, and building automation to residential, commercial, industrial, institutional, healthcare market sectors. A 20-year veteran of the construction and HVAC industry, and an Engineer-In-Training (E.I.T) in South Carolina. Immediately prior to joining Waldrop in 2004, Porterfield owned and operated a light commercial and residential heating and air conditioning company serving the Greenville and Spartanburg markets. As founder/owner, he gained invaluable experience by having full responsibility for all aspects of the business - sales and marketing, accounting and procurement, and installation and service. Porterfield has also held various positions in design engineering, design management and project management, as well as sales and marketing. As Chief Operating Officer in charge of Service, Porterfield leads all Waldrop's service-related activities including residential service, maintenance and add-on-replacement, as well as, the commercial/Industrial service, maintenance, and add-on-replacement business. In this role, he leads a group of managers which handles over 35 technicians, 20 installers, a sales team of 4, and an office staff of 14. This team seeks repair opportunities, maintenance opportunities and future add-on-replacement opportunities in said market places. Porterfield began his engineering-construction industry career during his final year at Clemson University. From that point forward, he held increasingly responsible positions with several well-known Upstate engineering firms. He worked with a broad range of clients throughout the United States in various industries, including automotive, health-care, food service, tires, fibers and textiles. During an eight-year period, he led mechanical design efforts as a project engineer with concentration in HVAC, plumbing and fire protection design, for commercial, industrial, institutional, medical, religious and retail projects. Porterfield's leadership experience also includes: sales engineer for the HVAC retail market; HVAC design-build services, corporate estimation, and project management services for other mechanical/general contractors in the commercial and industrial markets, and also ownership of his successful HVAC Company. Porterfield has designed and managed multiple projects that have been recipients of regional and national recognition for excellence in construction. This includes the prestigious Eagle Award, as well as the Pyramid Award, from the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC); and the Design-Build Award presented by Contracting Business magazine
