Dr. Fred Brewer

Dr. Fred Brewer is a board-certified (American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine) veterinary cardiologist. He is a native of southern California, growing up in Long Beach where he attended Long Beach Polytechnic High School and later graduated from UCLA with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychobiology. Later, he received his veterinary degree from Cornell University in 2009. Following the 4 years at Cornell University, he completed a 1-year general rotating internship at the California Animal Hospital Veterinary Specialty Group in West Los Angeles with Dr. Stephen J. Ettinger. This was followed by a 3-year Cardiology residency at Cornell University, where he was trained to perform minimally invasive interventional procedures such as pacemakers, balloon valvuloplasties, and PDA occlusions. He has a keen interest in electrophysiology, has extensively studied the canine sinus node, and has published in veterinary medical journals. Additionally, he is experienced in the management of complex arrhythmias and the treatment of refractory heart failure. In addition to providing the best quality of care for his patients, Dr. Brewer is an avid surfer and enjoys playing water polo, traveling, and photography.

Dr. Janet Behm

Dr. Janet Behm was born in North Carolina but lived in Ohio, Wisconsin, Kansas, Germany, and Texas before landing in California to finish out high school. Following graduation from UCSD, Dr. Behm became a dolphin trainer at SeaWorld and it was there that she was exposed to the amazing work that the veterinarians were doing. That experience motivated her to apply to Vet school, where she graduated Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana with her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 2011. She worked for several years in Indiana at a small animal clinic, before coming home to southern California. Recently, Dr. Behm worked on a research project studying killer whale skeletons and their diseases. She is excited to be a part of the team caring for the patients at All Creatures Care Cottage.

Dr. Marissa Torres

Dr. Marissa Torres is a Southern California native and attended Cal State University, San Bernardino, majoring in biology with an emphasis on genetics and stem cell biology. While going to school she worked at several different animal hospitals which influenced her to continue her education and apply to veterinary school. This brought her far away from sunny California to Guelph, Ontario in Canada to attend the Ontario Veterinary College. It was there that Dr. Torres gained special interests in internal medicine, dentistry, and geriatric medicine. In her free time, Dr. Torres enjoys hiking, photography, watching hockey, and spending time with her Labrador Retriever, Cody.

Dr. Rand Spongberg

Dr. Rand Spongberg grew up in Southern California and attended the University of California Irvine, majoring in Social Science. Dr. Spongberg passion for animals led him to Australia where he studied Veterinary Medicine at Murdoch University in Perth, located in Western Australia. His studies focused on surgery, dermatology, and internal medicine. After 5 years of living and working in Australia, he moved back home to Orange County. Dr. Spongberg emphasizes the importance of caring for the animals as well as their owners, "Since pets can't communicate verbally, it's essential to have a great relationship and work closely with their owners so the pets get the best possible care," He strives to exceed your expectations for quality, compassionate care, and service. Dr. Spongberg is an active member of the Southern California Veterinary Medical Association and is the proud new owner of All Creatures Care Cottage. He lives in Costa Mesa with his wife Lorraine and two young children, Ryland and Sienna. When he isn't helping owners and their beloved pets he enjoys spending time with his family, traveling to tropical beaches, surfing, and scuba diving. Dr. Spongberg loves going to work every day and is lucky to have a well-trained and caring staff.
