COASTAL FAMILY DENTISTRY - Key Persons

Jim Sexton is a lifelong resident of the Low Country. Having grown up on the Isle of Palms, he now lives on the Wando River in Awendaw. From Moultrie High School in Mt. Pleasant to University of South Carolina, to Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, Dr. Sexton is a totally local boy. A lifelong student of Dentistry, Dr. Sexton has achieved mastership status in the Academy of General Dentistry and is an Associate Fellow in the American Academy of Implant Dentistry. Married to local girl Denise Newman Sexton, they have four daughters and five grandchildren. When not working, Dr. Sexton enjoys golf, farming, fishing and reading.

Matthew Watson was raised in Atlantic City, New Jersey. After undergraduate studies at Temple University and Stockton College, he graduated dental school from the Medical University of South Carolina in 1994. Dr Watson maintains memberships in American Dental Association, SC Dental Association, and American Academy of Implant Dentistry. He holds completion certificates in Invisalign, Clear Correct and Tip Edge Orthodontics. Dr Watson has completed extensive continuing education hours in Implant Dentistry, Periodontal Surgery, Orthodontics, Cosmetic Dentistry and Endodontics. Outside of the office, Dr Watson enjoys offshore fishing, hunting, and the outdoors. Dr Watson is married to Katie and has 2 children, Tori and Hunter.

Scott Gawrych, Jr. was born and raised here in Mount Pleasant. From Wando High School, Dr. Gawrych completed his undergraduate studies at the University of South Carolina (Go Cocks!). He graduated in 2018 from the Dental College of Georgia in Augusta, GA. After dental school, Dr. Gawrych completed a 2-year General Practice Residency at DCG where he received extensive training in IV conscious sedation, implant dentistry, complex restorative dentistry, and oral surgery. Dr. Gawrych is a Fellow in the International Congress of Oral Implantologists and maintains a membership in the American Dental Association and SC Dental Association. In his free time, Dr. Gawrych loves golfing, fishing and hunting in the Lowcountry.
