HUTT VALLEY DOJO

Sensei Paul began his training in the martial arts in 1985. Inspired by the life story of Mas Oyama, the founder of Kyokushin Karate, Sensei Paul started at Newtown dojo and attained his black belt in 1992. Competing nationally and internationally, he won the New Zealand Championships 4 times over three catergories, the middle, light heavy and heavy weight divisions. Representing New Zealand at three world tournaments, Sensei Paul moved to Japan to widen his training and pursue the competition circuit there. Residing in Tokyo, Sensei Paul trained and taught karate for 18 years under Shihan Eguchi at Josai Kokubunji Dojo. Returning to Wellington in 2019, he now instructs at Hutt Valley dojo.
