AARON FRANKE

BIO: I became a Physical Therapist because I had multiple injuries throughout sports growing up so I spent a lot of time in rehab and loved the impact PT had on my recovery as well as the atmosphere in the clinic.

BIO: I became a Physical Therapist because I wanted to be Andy Vogel when I was 12 years old.

AMY BORKOSKY

BIO: I became a Physical Therapist Assistant because I spent some time in High School in therapy from a knee injury and thought it would be a cool job.

ANDREW PERKINS

BIO: Andrew graduated from Penn State University in 2008 with a BS in Kinesiology. He then attended the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences in St. Augustine, Florida where he obtained his Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree in 2011. Andrew worked in Florida for two years in an outpatient orthopedic setting before he, and his wife moved to her hometown of Fort Wayne, Indiana in 2013. He took a job with Indiana Physical Therapy in 2013 working again in the outpatient orthopedic setting. About a year later, Andrew was given the opportunity to specialize in Vestibular Rehabilitation Therapy (VRT), completing his Vestibular Rehabilitation Competency Course. (the gold standard of Vestibular Rehab education) Since 2014, Vestibular patients make up nearly his entire caseload at any given time.

ANDY MISNER

BIO: Initially, I got into PT because I enjoyed working with athletes; however, since then I have grown to love treating patients of all backgrounds.

BIO: I became a Physical Therapist to help people get back to the things they love to do in life whether it's just day-to-day activities or sports specific.

BIO: I became a Physical Therapist Assistant because I enjoy helping other people restore better health and improve their quality of life.

APRIL WILK

BIO: I come to IPT with 5 years of experience and a history of working in long term care, outpatient, and home health. I am originally from the Northern Lower Peninsula of Michigan from a tiny town named Posen, and I will always call myself a Michigander. I became an Occupational Therapist because it gives me the opportunity to utilize my love for science and creativity to improve people's quality of life and function.

ASHLEY JOHNSON

BIO: My initial interest in PT began in high school when I had an injury from playing basketball, and I had great physical therapists who got me back to playing sports again. Since then, I have wanted to do the same for others, which is why I pursued a career in Physical Therapy. I graduated with my Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from the University of Miami in 2022, and have been working as a Physical Therapist at Indiana Physical Therapy ever since.

BARBARA BUIS

BIO: I became a Physical Therapist Assistant because while raising children with disabilities, I saw the positive impact therapies had on their quality of life and wanted to help share those benefits with others.

BEN SWINEHART

BIO: I became a Physical Therapist because it blends with a lot of things I'm interested in, such as nutrition, recovery, sports specific training, all in the same job while helping others return to the things they love to do.

BRITTANY KNIGHT

BIO: I love learning about the human body and what it is capable of doing, which is why I became a Physical Therapist. This job allows me to combine lifelong learning, with helping people.

BRITTNEY HARTMAN

BIO: I became a therapist because I have to help people feel better. I always strive to make one person smile day. My favorite part of the job is that I love being surrounded by people who are fun and that are always helping me learn more. Interesting fact about me, I am certified scuba diver and I have swam near sharks and turtles.

CHELSEA FRITCH

BIO: I became a Physical Therapist because I've always enjoyed learning about anatomy and physiology. What really drew me, specifically, to physical therapy was how we use movement to treat pain and prevent/recover from injury. It provides an opportunity to teach patients how to manage symptoms on their own and empowers them to take their health into their own hands.

BIO: I became a Physical Therapist Assistant because I had gone through PT in high school, and the human body interested me. Seemed like a good field for me!

CONNOR BRESNAHAN

BIO: I became a Physical Therapist because while enduring PT following an injury in high school, I knew that it was a field I would enjoy.

COURTNEY TOOKOLO

BIO: I grew up in Westfield, IN, but now residing in Broad Ripple, IN. I graduated from the University of Indianapolis and graduated with my Bachelor's Degree is Psychology and my Associate's from Physical Therapy Assistant Program in 2018. I have been a licensed therapist ever since and initially started out in the Skilled Nursing setting and was in that setting for three years. I have brief Home Health experience as well covering small parts of Zionsville, Southport/Greenwood, and briefly South Bend areas. However, the outpatient setting has always been my passion in the physical therapy world, so I am very happy to now be part of the Indiana Physical Therapy team! I became a therapist because I enjoy helping and caring for others in order to restore their functional mobility to lead a healthier and happier life within their community. I had a very positive observation experience while I was in high school that lead me on the path to becoming a licensed PTA. This is a career that allows me to continue to grow not only as a therapist, but as a person as well!

DANNY BECKER

BIO: I became a PT in order to help others achieve their goals so that they can return to doing what they love.

DAVE KUHN

BIO: When Dave Kuhn and Andy Vogel graduated from Indiana Central (now University of Indianapolis) as both athletic trainers and physical therapists, they saw a need for sports medicine in Northern Indiana. At the time, 1986, there was only one athletic trainer and one sports medicine physician in Allen County. Given that both Dave and Andy played high school and college athletics (Homestead and Roncalli, respectively) and college sports (Andy played baseball and basketball, Dave was a tight end for the football team), their natural skills and abilities led them in the direction of becoming a physical therapy provider with a focus on sports medicine. August 8, 1988, Indiana Physical Therapy was founded at the original location in Bluffton, IN with Dave and Andy working as PTs and ATCs for a total of nine local high schools in their communities. This set the corporate standard for the IPT community involvement. We now take part in in every town and city we are located.

BIO: I became a Physical Therapist to help people be their best selves and move pain free.

BIO: I became a Physical Therapist because, after getting my ATC (athletic training certification), I wanted to further my education to reach a bigger patient population.

BIO: I became a physical therapist because I dealt with a variety of injuries growing up and wanted to help others return to the activities they enjoyed. My favorite part of this job is seeing my patients return to the activities that were once bothersome or debilitating and to see the look on his/her face when she has returned to their prior level.

HEATHER HARSHMAN-TURK

BIO: In high school and college, I had an interest in healthcare as well as sports and fitness. I found the perfect blend in PT to impact a patient's quality of life, and to continue to improve their abilities to engage in their hobbies, interests, and time with family and friends. The best part of my job is witnessing a patient's first time able to complete a task for the first time after injury or achieving a goal he or she's been working toward. Fun fact about me, I have 2 adorable Boxers named Zoe and Tito who can catch a frisbee.

HEATHER KLAWITER

BIO: I became a therapist because I saw how it helped my grandmother many times growing up with her PSP diagnosis to be able to reach her goals to be able to have a better quality of life. My favorite part about my job is knowing that I am making a difference during their progress of getting better from injury. Fun fact about me: I have a twin brother who just graduated from law school.

BIO: I became interested in physical therapy when I was an injured athlete who had to go through physical therapy to return to sports. I became a physical therapist in order to improve functionality and quality of life in people's lives.

BIO: I became a Physical Therapist because I am an active person, love to work with people, and enjoy problem solving so PT was a perfect fit for me!

BIO: I became a Physical Therapist because as a senior in high school, I sprained my ACL. I needed physical therapy and Dave Kuhn looked like he really enjoyed his job and inspired me to become a Physical Therapist.

BIO: After a handful of sports injuries in high school, I started to develop an interest in physical therapy. Later, this became a passion. The best part of my job is developing the relationship between clinician and patient. I love seeing the progress from day one to discharge.

BIO: I became interested in being a Physical Therapist in high school when having PT after elbow surgery. In undergrad, I found the most interest in the rehab side of athletic training, so ultimately I pursued the DPT degree.

JOYA FRELIN

BIO: When I was in high school my father was in a very traumatic car accident. He was in the hospital for 3 months recovering. After seeing how physical therapy was involved in helping him, I gain an enormous respect for the profession. The best part of my job is…….I love my job! My favorite part would be that there is always something new to learn. Getting to know my patient's unique personalities is fun as well. Fun fact about me, I have a never-ending supply of movie quotes, and I'm not afraid to use them! I consider laughter one of the best medicines, and like to keep a very upbeat attitude.

KAYLYN SAILLANT

BIO: I enjoy being a Physical Therapist Assistant because I am always continuing to learn and grow while helping patients do the same.

KEN JOHNSON

BIO: Ken Johnson grew up in Lima, Ohio. He went to college at Indiana University where he received his Bachelor's in Physical Therapy in 1997. Ken received a Graduate Certificate in Health Sciences Patient Centered Outcomes in 2006 from Indiana University and numerous other certifications to ensure he is up to date with the most recent research and treatment techniques for treating the wide range of conditions his patients experience. Ken has practiced in outpatient orthopedic clinics his entire career and enjoys the challenge this setting brings every day. He has experience in treating most conditions that present themselves in an outpatient orthopedic setting including neck pain, shoulder pain, back pain, hip and knee pain, lower extremity and upper extremity overuse syndromes, and foot dysfunction as well as balance and vestibular disorders. He has completed additional training for Graston soft tissue mobilization, dry needling, FMS/SFMA evaluation, and Blankenship WorkEval Functional Evaluation. He has a special interest in cervical and shoulder dysfunction, thoracic outlet syndrome, return to work training, balance training, strengthening, and fall prevention techniques for older adults, and working with athletes to help them return to their sport of choice. Ken has lived on the south side of Indianapolis since 1997 with his wife. He has four children in high school and college and a pet to help keep him busy. When not at work, he enjoys cycling, watching sporting events, and spending time relaxing with friends and family.

BIO: I became a Physical Therapist because I love that PT is about patient autonomy and not about dependency on a healthcare provider.

BIO: I knew from a young age I wanted to be a PTA after needing therapy from a soccer injury. I received multiple opinions from doctors who all told me I may not be able to play again. Then I met my therapist who made my love for playing sports possible again. From then on, I knew this career was right for me.

BIO: I became a PT because I had an interest in how the body works and moves as well as educating people about how to rehab and take care of their bodies. I knew some friends who went through PT and thought that was the perfect "marriage" of those two interests and every time I would go and observe, I just fell in love even more.

BIO: I became a Physical Therapist because when I shadowed a few PTs during undergrad, I liked the atmosphere and the treatment approach. I've always enjoyed learning more about health and the human body, and I wanted a profession that combined this and my desire to solve problems and help others. The best part of my job is enjoying the fun conversations I have with patients, seeing them get better and have more autonomy over their conditions.

BIO: Dave inspired me to follow in his footsteps when he came to my HS to speak about PT and ATC to my Anatomy/ Physiology class. He was wearing sweats and a baseball hat, and I thought, "that would be awesome to wear sweats to work." So I became a Physical Therapist! Troy Smith, partner, was a senior at Woodlan High School in 1987 when Dave came into his advanced biology class to speak about the physical therapy and athletic training professions. This led to Troy shadowing Dave, which was a turning point for Troy, now confident this was the profession he wanted to pursue. Troy then chose to attend UIndy, played football (as a wide receiver), and graduated in 1993.
