ASBPS

The American Society of Bariatric Plastic Surgeons (ASBPS) has been established by plastic surgeons who specialize in body contouring after significant weight loss. Many patients have lost significant weight through a variety of bariatric procedures. This can include RNY gastric bypass, duodenal switch, vertical gastric sleeve, gastric balloon insertion surgery, or lap band surgery. Other patients have lost weight through non-surgical means such as extreme dieting and exercise. One of the benefits of losing weight is that many medical conditions, such as diabetes and high blood pressure, are eliminated. However, after significant weight loss, you may be left with a new or perhaps unrealized problem, namely excess skin and fat throughout the body. The ASBPS's goal is to help weight loss patients find experienced and knowledgeable plastic surgeons who specialize in reconstructive plastic surgery after significant weight loss.
