Founded in 1852, the American Society of Civil Engineers is the oldest engineering society in the United States, representing more than 150,000 members in 177 countries. The New Orleans Branch, founded in 1962, represents more than 950 members in southeast Louisiana. Our branch provides technical learning opportunities through monthly luncheons and evening programs covering a wide spectrum of topics including transportation, structural, water resources, coastal, geotechnical, and forensic engineering. We actively engage younger professional and student members to participate in professional events, supporting dedicated younger members with networking opportunities and student competitions in regional and national events. The New Orleans Branch also honors civil engineer of the past through efforts to dedicate significant civil engineering works as ASCE Historic Civil Engineering Landmarks.
