Aileen Mathieson

Aileen Mathieson joined Aspen in November 2021, as the Group Chief Investment Officer and is based in the London office. She brings more than 15 years of investment and financial experience, and previously served at Aberdeen Standard Investments where she was Global Head of Insurance. Prior to this, Aileen was CIO, UK Life for Zurich and during her career also held senior finance roles at Nucleus Financial Group plc, Standard Life Group, Diageo plc and EMI Music. Aileen started her career at KPMG.

Albert Beer

Mr. Beer has over 40 years of actuarial and management experience in the insurance industry and has also served as a director of Aspen Bermuda Limited since July 2014. Mr. Beer previously held various Executive roles at American Re-Insurance Corporation/Munich Re America, which included the active supervision of principal financial and accounting officers. Mr. Beer is the Michael J. Kevany/XL Professor of Risk Management, Insurance and Actuarial Science at The Peter J. Tobin College of Business School of Risk Management, Insurance and Actuarial Science at St. John's University. Mr. Beer graduated Phi Betta Kappa from Manhattan College with a B.S. in Mathematics and holds an M.A. in Mathematics from the University of Colorado. Mr. Beer was appointed to the Board on July 23, 2019 after having previously served on the Board from February 4, 2011 until February 15, 2019.

Alex Humphreys

Beatrice Morley

Beatrice Morley was appointed Head of Asia Pacific in June 2021 to coincide with her role as Global Head of Casualty for Aspen Re that she's held since 2017. She is based in Singapore. She joined Aspen in 2011 to build the Asian casualty treaty and facultative portfolio. In 2015, she was appointed Head of Casualty Treaty for Asia Pacific with responsibility for all Aspen Re's casualty lines of business in the region. Prior to joining Aspen, she worked for Swiss Re and Catlin in Singapore where she specialised in various lines of casualty treaty and facultative business.

Bill Miller

Bill Miller joined Aspen in July 2021. Previously, he was with KPMG in Bermuda where he was Managing Director, Actuarial, responsible for advising some of the leading international (re)insurers. Prior to joining KPMG in 2014, Bill spent 12 years at Chubb legacy ACE, where he was latterly Chief Actuary for its Risk Management & Foreign Casualty divisions. Bill's actuarial career spans 35 years within the non-life sector and also includes roles at Travelers, NCCI, Reliance National and at Willis Towers Watson working as a senior consultant actuary.

Brian Tobben

Brian Tobben was appointed Chief Executive Officer of Aspen Capital Partners, a division of Aspen, in May 2021. Prior to this, he served as the Chief Executive Officer for Aspen Capital Markets. Before joining Aspen, Brian was at Partner Reinsurance for almost 10 years, most recently as Head of Insurance Linked Securities where he managed a portfolio of catastrophe ILS, life ILS, weather and commodity investments and before that, as Vice President, Weather. Prior to this, Brian was at Aquila Energy where he held a number of roles including Vice President, Business Development, Weather.

Christian Dunleavy

Christian Dunleavy was named Group Chief Underwriting Officer in January 2022, after holding several leadership positions at Aspen since joining in 2015. During his tenure, he has served as Head of Global Property Catastrophe, Chief Underwriting Officer of Aspen Re, CEO of Aspen Bermuda, and Chief Underwriting Officer of Aspen Bermuda Limited. Prior to joining Aspen, Christian spent several years at Axis Reinsurance, where he was a Senior Vice President and responsible for U.S. Property Treaty, Caribbean Property, and Workers Compensation Catastrophe business. Before joining Axis in 2002, he was a Senior Analyst at RenaissanceRe, where he focused on multi-peril modeling, pricing, and portfolio analysis. In addition to his responsibilities at Aspen, Christian is also a Director of the Association of Bermuda International Companies and the Association of Bermuda Insurers and Reinsurers, as well as an Independent Director of CG Coralisle Group.

Christopher Coleman

Chris Coleman was appointed Group Chief Financial Officer, effective October 19th, 2021. Chris was most recently CFO of Third Point Re until its merger with Sirius Group. Chris has strong transaction and capital markets experience, including the recent acquisition of Sirius Group by Third Point Re, Third Point Re's IPO as well as having had key roles in a number of other merger, debt and equity transactions during his career. Chris also served as CFO of Alterra Bermuda Limited, was Chief Accounting Officer for Harbor Point Limited and held a senior audit manager role with PwC.

David Altmaier

David has extensive experience in the insurance industry, having most recently served as Commissioner of Insurance for the State of Florida, leading the Office of Insurance Regulation ("OIR") between April 2016 and December 2022. David started at the OIR in 2008, serving in a number of increasingly senior roles, including as Director of Property & Casualty Financial Oversight and, prior to assuming the role of Commissioner, as Deputy Commissioner of Property and Casualty Insurance. Amongst other market leadership roles, David was a member of Florida's Blockchain Task Force and, during the COVID-19 pandemic, was selected as a member of Florida's Re-Open Florida Task Force Industry Working Group on Agriculture, Finance, Government, Healthcare, Management and Professional Services. David has also held multiple leadership positions within The National Association of Insurance Commissioners, most recently as President. David was appointed to the Board on March 7, 2023.

Prior to that, he was an in-house solicitor with Ark Syndicate Management in London, having previously completed his training contract at Clyde & Co LLP's London office. David is a member in good standing of the Bermuda Bar Association and the Law Society of England & Wales.

Deirdre Brennan

Deirdre Brennan was appointed Deputy COO Reinsurance in January 2021. Deirdre joined Aspen in 2005 as a Senior Business Analyst and spent 8 years in the IT function. She then moved to the Reinsurance division leading the Change programme which involved implementing a new operational model for the Reinsurance Operations function. In 2017 she was appointed Global Head of Reinsurance Underwriting Operations and Change Management. Deirdre is also Chairperson of the UK CSR committee.. Prior to joining Aspen, Deirdre started her career in IT in the Life & Pensions sector before providing IT consulting predominantly in the London Insurance Market.

Don Keahon

Don Keahon joined Aspen in 2010 to build and lead our US Inland Marine underwriting operations. Since that time Don has taken on increasing responsibilities, assuming leadership for both the Inland and Ocean Marine portfolios in 2019 and all US First Party lines in 2021. Don was promoted to the role of Portfolio Director for First Party in July 2022. Prior to joining Aspen Don held several marine underwriting and management roles with Chubb and One Beacon where he was the Vice President, Head of Inland Marine - and brings more than 32 years underwriting experience to our team.

Erik Armellino

Erik Armellino has held the role of Portfolio Director of the Specialty portfolio since July 2022. Erik joined Aspen in 2016 to lead our International Energy operation. Prior to joining Aspen Erik was Head of Underwriting Performance and Head of Property Direct and Facultative at Advent Underwriting Limited. Prior to this he was Global Head of Heavy Industries and the Deputy Regional Manager for the Energy & Construction segments at Liberty International. He has also held underwriting leadership positions with AIG in London and started his career as a risk engineer for Factory Mutual Group.

Gernot Lohr

Mr. Lohr is a Senior Partner and Global Head of the Financial Institutions Group at Apollo, which he joined in May 2007. Prior to joining Apollo, Mr. Lohr was a founding partner at Infinity Point LLC, Apollo's joint venture partner for the financial services industry, since 2005. Before that time, Mr. Lohr spent eight years in financial services investment banking at Goldman Sachs & Co in New York and also worked at McKinsey & Company and B. Metzler Corporate Finance in Frankfurt. Currently, Mr. Lohr serves on the board of directors of Athora Holding, Ltd., Catalina Holdings and Oldenburgische Landesbank. Henry MacHale

Henry MacHale was appointed Chief Strategy Officer and a member of the Group Executive Committee in July 2022, focusing on the formulation, execution and communication of the Aspen Group Strategy. He is the Global Sponsor for the Race and Ethnicity Employee Resource Group within Aspen's D&I workstream, and a member of the Underwriting Super Group for ESG. Formerly, Henry was the Portfolio Director for First Party & Specialty, and stood as co-CUO AIUK for three years reporting to the UK Board of Directors. He previously held the role of Global Head of Specialty, and ran Aspen's Crisis Management business for several years conducting business across the United States, Latin America, Sub-Saharan Africa and Asia. Prior to joining Aspen Henry ran his own business in Nairobi, Kenya, and has extensive experience operating in sub-Saharan Africa. Before that, Henry was on the Graduate Training program at JP Morgan in London.

Jenny Kane

John Welch

He previously held a number of senior roles at AXA XL, XL Catlin Group and XL Group.

Jon Steer

Jon Steer was appointed Deputy Group Chief Claims Officer in August 2019. He started his reinsurance career in 1986 as an LMX retro placing broker at CE Heath. He briefly left London to work on the London International Financial Futures Exchange as a trading assistant for James Capel, a UK stockbroker. Jon was one of the 39 Wellington employees who set up Wellington Re in June 2002. He started with us as the property reinsurance claims manager within Aspen Insurance UK and progressed to become the head of claims for Aspen Insurance Limited and then group head of claims, before assuming his current role.

Jonny Atkinson

He is a Director of Blue Marble Microinsurance Ltd, a growing commercial and socially impactful affiliate company. He is Chair of the Marketing Communications and Sustainability Committee and the Chair of AUKSSL, Aspen's distribution service company for Lloyd's Syndicate 4711. He joined the firm in June 2011 with 20 years of broking experience, holding leadership positions in both the UK and Bermuda. Before joining the industry Jonny gained a degree in economics from Cambridge University and was a professional cricketer for Somerset.

Justin Camara

Justin Camara joined Aspen in January of 2010 as a founding member of the Professional Liability department. Justin is now the Executive Vice President and Portfolio Director of FinPro. Currently based in San Francisco, Justin has over 24 years of experience dedicated to underwriting these segments. Justin's previous work history includes opening the professional liability operations for Tamarack American (a division of Great American Insurance Co.) and Liberty International Underwriters (a division of Liberty Mutual Group) in San Francisco. Justin began his career with AIG, underwriting professional liability in New York. Justin is licensed as a Resident Insurance Producer in California and has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Santa Clara University.

Mark Cloutier - CEO, Chairman

Mark Cloutier was appointed Executive Chairman and Group Chief Executive Officer of Aspen on February 15, 2019. He had previously been Executive Chairman of the Brit Group, a Lloyd's of London insurer, since January 2017 and prior to this, he was Chief Executive Officer of the Brit Group from October 2011 following its acquisition by Apollo and certain other private equity firms. As Chief Executive Officer of the Brit Group, Mark led a major restructuring of Brits' global business, the successful listing on the London stock exchange through an initial public offering in 2014 as well as the subsequent acquisition of the business by Fairfax Financial Holdings in 2015. With over 35 years' experience working in the international insurance and reinsurance sector in multiple jurisdictions including Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, Bermuda, Continental Europe, Asia, China and South Africa, Mark has held a number of Chief Executive Officer and senior executive positions, including Chief Executive Officer of the Alea Group, Chief Executive Officer of Overseas Partners Re and President of E.W. Blanch Insurance Services Inc. He had been a member of the Franchise Board and Audit Committee of the Society of Lloyd's between February 2015 and June 2020 and was appointed to the Nomination and Governance Committee in February 2017. He currently serves on the Board of Overseers of the Maurice R. Greenberg School of Risk Management, Insurance and Actuarial Science in New York. Mark has worked with a variety of private equity investors including Apollo Management International LLP, CVC Capital Partners, Kohlberg Kravis Roberts (KKR) and Fortress. Mark Pickering

Mark is also a Director of Aspen Bermuda Limited and represents the Company as the Group and Aspen Bermuda Principal Representative. Michael Saffer

Mohinder Kang

Philip Hough

Philip was appointed Global Head of Property Reinsurance in July 2019, having held leading roles within Property, EMEA and Asia Pacific at Aspen Re for over the last 16 years. He joined Aspen in November 2005 as a senior international property reinsurance treaty underwriter. In July 2007 he was appointed head of Aspen's European property treaty business following the opening of its Zurich Branch, and from January 2017 he was Managing Director of Aspen's Asia Pacific business in Singapore, prior to relocating to Zurich in July 2021. Prior to joining Aspen, Philip was a vice president at Transatlantic Re in Paris. Philip is an associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute (ACII) and is fluent in German and French.

Richard Lightowler
