Angela Barkley - VP

Mrs. Barkley joined the staff of BCEI in 2002 as an engineering student intern. Upon graduation in 2003, she became a full-time engineer and has developed her project management skills to a high level of professionalism. She has served as project engineer on several high-profile Fortune 500 construction companies' residential projects, both regionally and along the US Eastern Seaboard.

Barry Pujol

Mr. Pujol joined the firm in 1998 and has developed a very extensive working knowledge of all aspects of the company's engineering design work. He holds a Bachelor's Degree in Architecture, which has enabled him to establish a strong working relationship with many of BCEI's architectural clients. Through his commitment to the growth and success of the firm, he has attained the position of Vice President and Senior Project Manager. He has served as Project Manager on numerous multi-family housing projects, State and local governmental projects, major commercial renovation projects and coastal dwellings.

Brad Begue

Mr. Begue joined the firm in 2013, bringing with him over 10 years of experience in the field of civil engineering. Prior to joining BCEI, he was self-employed as a civil engineering consultant in the Big Bend area. He provides the firm's civil engineering component in support of its primary structural engineering function through site design and environmental, permitting and regulatory-review interface with the various state, county and local governmental agencies.

Brian Gladden

Mr. Gladden joined the staff of BCEI in 2015 as an engineering student intern. Upon graduation in 2007, he became a full-time engineer and is developing a strong background in small commercial and residential projects. He has climbed the ladder to become the head of the residential department upon recieving her professional engineering license.

Douglas R. Barkley - Founder, President

Mr. Barkley founded Barkley Consulting Engineers, Inc. in 1996. Over the past 19 years, he has taken a one-man engineering shop to become one of the largest non-DOT structural firms in North Florida. He has extensive structural engineering experience with a wide range of materials including but not limited to steel, cold-formed steel, masonry, wood, concrete, and construction methods such as lift slab, tunnel form, steel frame, tilt up and specialized areas such as deep foundations, post tension slabs, and special needs shelters. His firm has designed structures from wood frame houses to 12-story condominiums in high wind zones. Mr. Barkley is also heavily involved with the FAMU/FSU College of Engineering as Chairman of the Civil Department Advisory Board and the Senior Capstone Course. His involvement with the students led to his receiving the National Mentor of the Year Award from the National Society of Professional Engineers in 2008. In 2009, the firm was awarded the Florida Institute of Consulting Engineers Professional Development Award.

George Johnson

Goerge Johnson

Mr. Johnson has expansive architecture experience designing multi-story structures using a variety of materials. He is also actively involved with the American Institute of Architects. He joined the firm in 2011 and has risen within the company to the position of Senior Architect. He has served as the main design architect and project manager on countless projects including multi-story condominiums and hotels, large-scale state projects, and commercial developments. Mr. Johnson received the AIA Young Architect of the Year Award in 1998 and he has held every elected position within the Tallahassee Chapter of the American Institute of Architects, where he currently serves as President.

Shanai Inns

After owning his own Professional Engineering firm in Tallahassee for over 30 years, Mr. Baldwin joined BCEI in 2003. He has worked primarily on building structures and special structures. He has designed power plants; chemical plants; office, medical, educational, storage, manufacturing and residential buildings; retaining walls; signs; cold-formed steel trusses and lift-slab construction. Mr. Baldwin received the Florida Engineering Society State Award in 1986 for "Outstanding Technical Achievement" and the FES Big Bend Chapter's Award for "Outstanding Services to the Profession" in both 1978 and 2008. In 1989 he received the FES Big Bend Chapter's "Engineer of the Year" Award.
