Amber Carlson

Amber Carlson joined the Yellow Jackets as Assistant Coach in August of 2022. Prior to taking on a coaching role, Carlson played soccer at BHSU in 2020 and 2021, totaling 15 starts in 23 games played, 12 shots, five on goal and an assist. She was named to the RMAC Academic Honor Roll in 2021. Before that, she played at Laramie County Community College for two years, competing in two NJCAA National Tournaments and finishing top-5 in the country both years. There, Carlson scored one goal on seven shots and one shot on goal over 19 games as a freshman, and a goal and two assists on 11 shots and five on goal starting all 19 games as a sophomore. Carlson graduated with a bachelor's degree in business in 2022.

Ashlyn Englehorn

Prior to BHSU, Englehorn spent two years at the helm of the Crown College softball program of the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) at the NCAA Division III level. While at Crown, she compiled a record of 20-49. She took over a program that went 7-21 (3-13 UMAC) prior to her taking over the reigns. In her two seasons, Englehorn increased the win total for the Polars. In her final season at Crown in 2023, she led the Polars to a 12-29 (9-12 UMAC) record - the most wins in program history since 2019 - and clinched the program's first UMAC tournament appearance since 2018.

Austin Billings

Austin Billings joined the Yellow Jackets in August of 2022 as Head Track and Field Coach. After serving as an assistant coach for four years, Billings enters his first head coaching role here at BHSU. Billings most recently served as an assistant track and field coach at Nicholls State from 2021-2022 where he worked closely with sprinters, hurdlers, jumpers, throwers and multis and led three student athletes to break 10 school records. Prior to NSU, Billings coached at the University of Montevallo from 2018-2021, and was named NCAA DII South Region Indoor Assistant Coach of the Year in 2021. While at Montevallo, he coached standout Da'Shaun Morgan to two NCAA DII South Region Athlete of the Year honors, three Gulf South Conference Athlete of the Year honors, and three All-American selections.

Baylee Johnson joined the Black Hills State sports medicine team as an athletic trainer in January 2024.

Ben Blake

Ben Blake joined the Black Hills State University football staff as Offensive Coordinator and Offensive Line Coach prior to the 2020 season. Before BHSU, Blake coached four years at Southeast Missouri (NCAA-FCS) as Offensive Line Coach (2016-19). Blake's offensive line helped SEMO set new single-season school records in points scored (482), points per game (37.1), touchdowns (63) and total plays (891) in 2018. He also coached tackle, Drew Forbes who was selected by the Cleveland Browns in the sixth round of the 2019 NFL Draft. Blake helped coach back-to-back winning seasons at SEMO for the first time in school history as a member of the FCS and completed back-to-back playoff appearances and Co-Conference OVC Champs in 2019. Prior to SEMO, Blake served as Offensive Line Coach at the University of Sioux Falls (NCAA-II) for two seasons (2014-15). At USF, Blake helped lead the Cougars to a combined 20-4 overall record. In 2015, USF went 9-3 and tied for second overall in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference with a 9-2 mark. Blake's offensive line at USF led the nation in sacks allowed, giving up only five in 12 contests during the 2015 campaign. The Cougars also ranked 11th nationally in third-down conversion percentage (48.2 pct.), 16th in both scoring offense (39.3 ppg) and first downs (285), and 19th in total offense (472.1 ypg). Before USF, Blake was the Offensive Line Coach, Run Game Coordinator and Strength and Conditioning Coach at Evangel University (NAIA) in Springfield, Mo. for three seasons (2011-13). There, Blake coached seven all-conference selections on the offensive line, including first-team honoree Keith Wright in 2012, the Crusaders' first OL first-team selection since 2006. Prior to his stint at Evangel, Blake spent four years (2007-10) at Southwest Baptist University (NCAA-II) in Bolivar, Mo as Offensive Line Coach and Run Game Coordinator, and as the Co-Offensive Coordinator in his final year there. He also worked as an assistant coach at Highland Community College in Kansas for one season (2006) and was a graduate assistant coach working with the offensive line and tight ends at Concordia University-Wisconsin (NCAA-III) from 2004-05. Blake graduated from Concordia University with an undergraduate degree in business management and minor in public relations. He also earned a master's degree in business administration with a marketing emphasis. He and his wife, Alyssa, have one daughter, Grace.

Bree Davis

Bree Davis joined the Yellow Jackets as Assistant Volleyball Coach in June 2021. Before coming to BHSU, Davis was a Graduate Assistant Coach at Southern Arkansas University from 2019 to 2021. During her time there, she helped the team to its first win against a ranked opponent in school history and coached the first two Second Team All-Conference players there since 2015. Before that, she was a volunteer assistant coach at Northern Arizona University in 2019 where she assisted the staff in stat tracking, team drills and other duties. Prior to coaching collegiately, she has over six years of experience coaching and managing youth volleyball, including time as the head varsity coach at Coconino High School in Arizona from 2017-2018. Davis also played collegiately at Grand Canyon University on both the indoor and beach volleyball teams from 2013-14 before transferring to play at the University of Great Falls from 2014-16. While at UGF, she earned First Team All-Conference, the NAIA Champions of Character Award, and was named Frontier Conference Player of the Week four times. Davis earned her Master of Science degree in Kinesiology-Coaching in 2021 from SAU and her bachelor's degree in Leadership Business Management from GCU.

Brian Medigovich

Brian Medigovich joined the Yellow Jackets as Head Coach of the Cross Country program in June 2021. In addition to his head coaching duties, he also serves as an assistant coach with the track and field program, working with the distance runners. Prior to BHSU, Medigovich spent the past three seasons at Adams State as the Assistant Cross Country and Track and Field Coach. His duties there involved directing team operations and running home meets. While there, he helped coach 18 All-Americans in cross country in 2018 and 2019, as well as four individual indoor national champions in 2019. He also coached the 2019 Women's Indoor Track and Field and Cross Country national championship teams. Before that, he was at Chadron State as head coach of the Cross Country team for five years where he led the men to the first national ranking in school history in 2016. Medigovich also coached the first individual in program history to qualify for nationals and receive the Elite 90 Academic Award.

Connie Feist joined the Yellow Jackets Triathlon team when it was formed in 2014 and has held the position of Head Coach since 2016.

Craig Marsh

Craig Marsh joined the Yellow Jackets as head coach of the women's golf team in December 2020. Prior to BHSU, Marsh spent three years at Hastings College where he had success recruiting student-athletes and fundraising to improve the school's golf program. That success allowed the program to add substantial indoor practice improvements, including an indoor flight monitor. The PGA Professional coached at Kelly Walsh High School in Casper, Wyo. Prior to Hastings. There, he led each the boys (2012, 2017, 2018) and girls (2016, 2017, 2018) to three state championships. Marsh was also named Boys Coach of the Year three times (2012, 2017, 2018) and Girls Coach of the Year five times (2006, 2007, 2016, 2017, 2018). Marsh in a member of both the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) and Women's Golf Coach Association (WGCA), as well as the PGA of America, where he was elected to Class A Membership in 2005. Competitively, he was a State Runner-Up in Wyoming in high school, as well as a member of the Ping Junior Tour (1992-1996) and the AJGA (1993-1996). He was the Wyoming Open Champion in 1997, shooting a 6-under (67-71-66). Professionally, he golfed the Heart of Texas Tour from 2000-2002 as well as the Dakotas Professional Golf Tour. Marsh was a member of the Methodist University golf team where he earned his bachelor's degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Professional Golf Management in 2000.

Glen Lammers

Glen Lammers was hired as the first full-time rodeo coach in Black Hills State history for the 2008-09 season. He has won four Great Plains Region titles between the men's and women's teams in his time at Black Hills State. Lammers has coached five College National Champions and has been selected as the Great Plains Region Coach of the Year four times over his career which began at National American University and spanned 1994-2008. As a competitor, Lammers qualified for the Tie Down and Team Roping Dodge National Circuit Finals and the PRCA Badlands Circuit Finals All-Around and Team Roping Championships. He is a seven-time circuit finals qualifier in tie down and team roping. In his collegiate career, Lammers was a four-time CNFR qualifier and was a High School Academic All-American. Lammers earned his bachelor's degree at National American University in Rapid City, South Dakota. He currently resides in Belle Fourche, South Dakota with his wife Shelly.

Jaime Bentley

Prior to the NCAA-era, Bentley coached three NAIA Scholar-Athletes and had her team qualify as an NAIA Scholar Team each of the four years while part of the NAIA. Bentley is a native of Spearfish, South Dakota, and grew up around Black Hills State athletics. Both of her parents were student-athletes at BHSU with her father playing baseball and mother part of the basketball and softball teams. In 2004, Jaime joined the Yellow Jacket family as a member of the women's basketball, golf and softball teams. As a golfer, Bentley was a two-time conference MVP, occurring in the 2005-06 and 2006-07. Bentley graduated from BHSU in 2007 with a degree in wellness management. She joined the coaching staff in 2007 as an assistant golf coach and took over in the spring season as the interim head coach. Bentley has become a member of the LPGA and is working toward her Class A Card as a teaching and club professional. Bentley is also the assistant golf pro at Spearfish Canyon Country Club.

Kelly Welker joined the Yellow Jacket athletic staff as head coach of the women's golf team in July 2018. Prior to BHSU, Welker was a Graduate Assistant Coach with the University of Central Missouri women's golf team from 2017 to 2018. Also from 2017 to 2018, she worked as a Golf Shop Assistant at Mules National Golf Club where she managed operations. Before that, Welker was an Assistant Golf Instructor from 2016 to 2017 at St. Andrews Golf Club. She served as an intern in the UCM Athletic Department in 2018, working in compliance under the Senior Associate Athletic Director, and at Elite Golf and Fitness in 2016 where she assisted in training golfers. As a student athlete at UCM from 2013-2017, Welker received All-Conference honors twice as a four-year member of the women's golf team and had a career-low round of 74. She also made two appearances at the NCAA Central Regional Championships and finished her college career with two top-five finishes, four top-10s and 19 top-20s. Welker graduated from UCM with her bachelor's degree in Exercise Science in 2016 and a master's in Sport Management in 2019.
