Brasil is quite easily the largest country in South America! the World's 5th largest country in population and land area. While those familiar with Latin America may think Spanish is the chosen language, they would be wrong. Brasil is the largest Portuguese speaking country in the world. Now who says Portugal didn't have an impact!
