BHATKHANDE SANGIT VIDYAPITH

In 1926, with a view to provide standardized music education and to maintain the high traditions of Indian music, an institution was established by the great efforts of Pandit Vishnu Narain Bhatkhande and Rai Uma Nath Bali at Lucknow. The Bathkhande University of Indian Music Society was registered under Societies Registration Act XXI of 1860 in 1939. In 1948 at the time Birth Anniversary celebrations of Bhatkhande the name of the university was changed and it became known as Bhatkhande Sangit Vidyapith.
