Melina Endsley is a Ph.D. student in the Materials department at the University of California Santa Barbara, working under the guidance of Tresa Pollock and Carlos Levi. She received her B.S. in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering from Colorado School of Mines in 2021. Her current research focus is investigating novel ceramic oxide coatings at high temperatures for turbine blades with power generation applications.
Mohamed Nawwar is a Ph.D. student in the Materials Science and Engineering program at The Ohio State University. Mohamed graduated Summa Cum Laude from Central Washington University in 2020 with a major in Physics and an interdisciplinary minor. During his undergraduate degree, he worked under the supervision of Dr. Benjamin White and Dr. Anne Cubilié, where he studied the chemical distortion effect on Ba 0.6 K 0.4 BiO 3 superconductor, and economic development in South Korea, respectively. His current research focus is synthesis and thermal transport of novel topological magnons under the supervision of Prof. Joseph Heremans

Tanay Tak received a Bachelor of Science in Physics from the Georgia Institute of Technology. In the fall of 2021, he began pursuing a Ph.D. in Materials at the University of California, Santa Barbara where he works under the guidance of Profs. James Speck and Steve DenBaars. His research focus is on advancing fundamental understanding and usage of III-Nitride LEDs and other semiconductor materials. Particularly, he looks to improve efficiencies through novel designs and understand the causes of inefficiency in these materials using electron emission spectroscopy.
