Dr. Robin S. Wagner

Job Titles:
  • Associate
Dr. Robin Wagner came out of the womb wanting to be a Veterinarian. As a toddler growing up in South Carolina, she used to cry when she saw the dead chickens in the grocery case at the Piggly Wiggly. She never outgrew that initial desire to be a Veterinarian, so after college at Wofford, she pursued her DVM degree at the University of Georgia. After practicing several years in equine and mixed animal practices, Dr. Wagner went back to school and completed a Large Animal Internal Medicine residency at Cornell and then a PhD in Physiology at the Medical University of SC in Charleston, SC, her hometown. Her intent was to go into academia, but life happened and she met her future husband, Anthony (a Hoosier from Columbus, IN), in Taekwondo class and gladly changed her plans. A year after their marriage and the birth of their son Benjamin, Dr. Wagner and family moved to Indianapolis. Dr. Wagner completed a post doc at IU and continued to practice small animal medicine as a relief Veterinarian. After her post doc, Dr. Wagner was hired by Roche Diagnostics to work on their automated pancreas project. She spent 16 years with Roche thriving in a fast-paced research environment focusing on development of algorithms and applications to help people with diabetes manage their disease more effectively and with less burden. She rose through the ranks from Principal Scientist to the level of Senior Director in Global Medical Affairs (Diabetes Care) all the while enjoying the challenges of product development, clinical research, and people leadership. When Roche's diabetes care unit began to falter, Dr. Wagner chose to leave and go back into her first love, Veterinary Medicine, full time. She currently enjoys interacting with clients and working up complex medical cases. Her particular areas of interest are dermatology, diabetes, and geriatrics. In her spare time, Dr. Wagner raises chickens and is an avid gardener and artist.
