Aaron Krupp

Aaron Krupp is the business coordinator for the College of Communication and has been with DePaul since December 2019. In addition to assisting the director of operations with the budget management of the college, he helps lead tenure and promotion cases by managing the online teaching evaluations and the final tenure and promotion documents and procedures. He hires, schedules, trains and supervises the student workers placed on both campuses (LPC and the Loop). He also works closely with URAP recipients to process their paperwork once hired. Additionally, he is the go-to person for ordering supplies and software for the college, and anything else that needs to be ordered and restocked. Aaron received his BS in advertising from the University of Illinois in 2007, and he is currently going for another degree at DePaul. Raised in Edwardsville, IL before moving to Champaign, IL and finally Chicago, Aaron is an Illinois native, born and bred. A jack-of-all-trades, he is a painter and has held positions in many fields and loves to learn.

Alexandra G. Murphy

Alexandra G. Murphy is a professor of communication and dean of the College of Communication. She teaches undergraduate and graduate courses that focus on cultural and political issues within organizations such as organizational communication and culture, multiculturalism in the workplace, power and politics in organizations, and assessment and intervention in organizations. She received her BA and MA from the University of Utah, and her PhD from the University of South Florida. Her research centers on organizational communication and culture, focusing on the risks that can occur in organizational and social contexts when taken-for-granted communication practices are unquestioningly reproduced and institutionalized. In particular, she has a strong interest in organizational and social contexts where lives are on the line. Murphy has worked on organizational development issues and improving communication among airline crews and medical staff in hospital emergency rooms. She has also worked extensively on public health communication programs for HIV/AIDS education in Kenya, Africa. Her work has been published in Communication Monographs, Text and Performance Quarterly, Management Communication Quarterly, Journal of Applied Communication Research, and Journal of Contemporary Ethnography, as well as edited books.

Ashlyn joined the College of Communication in August 2018. She is responsible for working with the program directors to create course schedules within the college, assisting with event coordination and lending general support to faculty and staff. Ashlyn earned her BFA in acting from The Theatre School at DePaul with a minor in psychological research methods. After graduating, Ashlyn gained several years of administration experience in business and the arts. She is a founding artistic associate of The Jacobins, a Chicago-based theatre company comprised of DePaul graduates.

Ginny Nightingale

Ginny Nightingale joined the College of Communication as an academic advisor in June 2007. She was named Assistant Dean for Academic Advising and Scheduling in 2020. Ginny earned a BA in communication from University of Dayton and an MA in higher education and student affairs from The Ohio State University. While pursuing her graduate degree, Ginny worked as an international student advisor in Ohio State's Office of International Affairs. She is an active member of the DePaul Academic Advising Network, which named her "Advisor Who Raises the Bar" in 2010 and "Most Patient Advisor" in 2011. She also received DePaul University's Staff Quality Service Award in 2011. Ginny has served as a staff professional for the Chicago Quarter, co-teaching courses on Chicago's Olympic Bid, Chicago's Advertising Industry, and Chicago's Underground Music Scene. Ginny was selected to serve as the staff professional for DePaul's First Year Study Abroad Program traveling to Jordan in spring 2015.

Joann Martyn provides strategic, tactical, and operational direction for online learning and technology within the college. Josh Lund

Josh Lund is a senior instructional designer at DePaul, and a former teacher turned mad scientist. After completing a BM in music theory/composition at St. Olaf College and an MM in composition at Northern Illinois University, he spent six years teaching instrumental music at Elgin Academy, William Penn University and Central College. He also worked as an active performer and clinician before returning to Illinois to complete his MSEd in instructional technology at Northern Illinois. A life straddling two different disciplines, technology and the fine arts, has led him to researching teaching technology in the collaborative arts, multimedia and recording technologies, and user interface design. He is really enjoying the fact that his job lets him play with technology tools all day and then teach others to use them. Josh still writes and performs on occasion, teaches the occasional wayward bass or guitar student, and is an avid gardener and disc golfer. He enjoys cooking, traveling and the outdoors, particularly when his family is also involved.

Katie Walsh has been with the college's academic advising staff since 2010. Many of you may be familiar with Katie as she graduated from the Master of Arts in organizational and multicultural communication in 2010. After receiving her undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and then working in New York City in public relations for Carolina Herrera for three years, Katie found her way back to Chicago in 2005. Katie worked in DePaul's athletic academic advising department for four years where she provided advising and life skills to student athletes. During her time as a graduate student at DePaul, Katie was a teaching assistant for Communication 101 and had a great fondness for working closely with students. She was also a proud member of DePaul's Academic Integrity Board. Her valuable advising experience, passion and appreciation for DePaul's College of Communication will contribute to the excellent academic support to our students.

Michael Elias

Michael Elias is the director of the College of Communication Internship Program for undergraduate and graduate students. Working closely with employers and faculty, he helps identify and create internship opportunities in fields including broadcast, print and online media, film, public relations, advertising and marketing agencies, small and large corporations, and historically non-profit organizations. Since 2012, Michael has been an adjunct instructor for CMN 394: Making the Most of Your Communication Internship. The course is designed to help students navigate their internship experience, such as managing supervisor expectations, establishing short term goals within their position, and making contributions that both benefit the company and the professional development of the student. The final project is a digital portfolio, which students create and use to highlight completed projects from their internship as well as samples from prior jobs and course work. The goal is for students to have a robust online presence that they can share with employers alongside a resume and LinkedIn page. Michael previously worked as an assistant director, career community advisor in DePaul University's Career Center. Specifically, he advised media, communication, arts and entertainment students on resume/portfolio development, job/internship search strategies, interviewing skills, and post-graduate career transitioning. He also has previous experience as the assistant director for the University Internship Program housed in DePaul's Career Center. Born and raised near Youngstown, Ohio, Michael moved to Chicago to complete his undergraduate and graduate degrees at DePaul University. Outside of the office he is an avid film goer and book worm - and always accepting recommendations for each!
