Buddy Parker

Buddy Parker has been employed by Faulkner University, Birmingham Campus since 1997 becoming fulltime lecturer in 2015 teaching various subjects. He started teaching Speech and Theater as his first master's degree in Communication Arts was obtained from the University of Montevallo. He earned his second master's degree from West Alabama in Psychology and Counseling. He immediately filled a need for Intro to and Developmental Psychology. After further graduate work in Counseling from West Alabama and Faulkner online, he began to teach various Counseling courses. He also has graduate work in Abnormal Psychology at Harvard and Energy Management from NYIT. Currently, he is working on his doctorate in Psychology at California Southern University, along with completing his 3rd master's degree from Faulkner University (Go Eagles) in Christian Counseling and Family Ministry. He has applied to the State of Alabama to become an Associate License Counselor in the future. In the summer of 2018, he completed the Faulkner course to teach online. Citing his popularity and ministerial care for his students, he was encouraged by a Birmingham Director to seek more graduate studies in Humanities from California State - Dominguez Hills - in order to teach Western Cultural Heritage I, II and III, now The Western Tradition I and II. Buddy's students in these classes dubbed him, "The Renaissance Man", a nickname he dearly loves. He also has been with Alabama Power for 37 years, currently as an Industrial Account Manager/Engineer in Major Accounts, serving the largest 250 accounts in mining and primary metals. Before employment with this utility, Buddy was a radio announcer/disc jockey for WLPH Radio (Gospel Music) and WYDE (Country) owned by Columbia Pictures, and he still does much voiceover work for Alabama Power and other companies. Throughout his adult life and continuing to this day, Buddy is a minister for the Churches of Christ and has preached over 1500 sermons. He is also Chaplain and master's division boxer and Certified by the USA Boxing Association as Coach and Judge for a 501-c3 organization in Birmingham, called, "Fight4Life" working with disadvantage youth through sanctioned boxing and promoting physical and mental wellness.

Carol Tarpley

Carol Tarpley was born in Dickson, Tennessee and graduated from David Lipscomb College in 1971, with a bachelor's degree in elementary education. She earned a master's degree and education specialist degree from Austin Peay University in Clarksville, Tennessee, and a doctorate in elementary education from Auburn University. Tarpley serves as Chair of the College of Education, EdTPA Coordinator, and teaches professional studies and teaching field courses in undergraduate and graduate programs. Tarpley is married with two children and seven grandchildren. She lives in Dadeville, Alabama, where she attends the Dadeville Church of Christ. She enjoys traveling, gardening and renovating her home, which was built in the 1880s.

Dr. Randall C. Bailey

Dr. Randall C. Bailey is the director of the Kearley Graduate School of Theology. He holds an associate of arts degree from Faulkner University and a bachelor degree in biblical studies, a master of arts in biblical studies, a graduate specialist degree in religious education, and a master of theology from Amridge University. He also earned a master of philosophy and a doctor of philosophy degrees from Drew University. Bailey served as a minister of the gospel for 10 years in congregations in Alabama. He specializes in Old Testament/Hebrew Bible, biblical languages, ancient Near East and Archaeology. In addition to his administrative and teaching duties, Bailey is the co-editor of the graduate school's journal, ΠΝΕΥΜΑΤΙΚΑ. Bailey has co-authored one book and authored another, both in the College Press NIV Commentary series - The College Press NIV Introduction to the Old Testament (introductions to Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Daniel; 2005), and The College Press NIV Commentary on Exodus (2007). Bailey enjoys studying history, reading adventure novels (e.g., Clive Custler, Robert Ludlum, Tom Clancy and Daniel Silva), and visiting with grandchildren.

Phillip Calvert

Phillip Calvert joined Faulkner University in 2012. He received an avionics technology diploma from Alabama Aviation and Technical College; a bachelor's degree in management of human resources from Faulkner University; a master's degree in management from Faulkner University; and completed additional graduate level work in criminal justice at Troy University Dothan, the University of Virginia and American Military University. Calvert is a graduate of the 237th Session of the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia, and has served on the board of directors for several regional and national organizations, including the Regional Organized Crime Information Center, the National Liquor Law Enforcement Association and the Institute for Criminal Justice Education. Calvert worked in the aviation industry for several years before beginning a career in law enforcement. During his more than 26-year law enforcement career, he worked for the Hanceville, Alabama, Police Department; Cullman County, Alabama, Sheriff's Department; and the Alabama Alcoholic Beverage Control Board's Law Enforcement Division. Calvert retired from ABC Enforcement in 2011 as an enforcement captain and the agency's accounting director. He has taught criminal justice courses at Faulkner and management courses at Troy University Dothan. He also teaches law enforcement seminar classes with a specialty in statement analysis. He serves as the BCJ director in the Criminal Justice/Legal Studies Department and enjoys the challenges of managing courses provided to students in multiple locations and formats. He was born in New Mexico, but spent most of his youth in Cullman County, Alabama. He is a licensed amateur extra operator and enjoys making radio contacts around the world.

Department:Education Bio Sandy Luster teaches Professional Studies and Teaching Field courses in the College of Education, serves as the Certification Officer, and is the Director of Field and Clinical Experiences. Luster holds a Bachelor's degree in Elementary/Early Childhood Education and a Master's degree in Education, both from Auburn University Montgomery. Her professional experience includes more than 39 years; 24 as a classroom teacher, four years as a building-level Instruction/Reading Specialist with the Alabama Reading Initiative, and seven years with the Elmore County Curriculum & Instruction Office as a Curriculum Specialist. Luster has served as a member of two task forces with the State Department of Education, as well as on school level and district level QAR teams for AdvancED Accreditation in various locations across the United States. Luster served as Program Chair for the 2010 Alabama Reading Association Fall Conference, two terms as president of a local Reading Chapter, and three terms as chair of the Exemplary Reading Program for the state of Alabama in conjunction with the International Reading Association. She is a presenter of "Differentiated Instruction", "How to Assist Struggling Readers", "Classroom Management", and "Using Instructional Strategies to Engage Reluctant Students". After retiring from public service, Luster came to Faulkner University to share her passion for teaching future teachers. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her husband Danny and visiting her daughter and son-in-law in John's Creek, Georgia, and most of all her two granddaughters, Charlotte Olivia and Ryan Michelle.
