Alexis Phillips

Alexis Phillips joined Thibodaux Regional Health System and Nicholls State University in June of 2023. In addition to assisting the Nicholls athletic training program, Phillips provides care to the Colonel women's indoor and beach volleyball teams. Previously, Phillips was an athletic trainer for Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio. She assisted with the men's and women's soccer programs. Phillips graduated from the University of Central Arkansas in Conway, Arkansas. During this time, she received her Master's of Science in Exercise and Sport Science while working as a Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer from 2020-2022. Phillips graduated from the University of Akron in Akron, Ohio in 2019 with earning her Bachelor's of Science in Athletic Training. After earning her degree from UA and certification in athletic training, she completed an internship at Coastal Carolina University in Conway, South Carolina.

Andrew Kearney

Andrew Kearney has served as Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance since July, 2013 after an 11-month stint as Director of Compliance for the Nicholls State University Athletics Department. He previously served two years as Ticket Manager for Nicholls Athletics, overseeing all aspects of the ticketing process and managing student workers. Prior to joining the Nicholls administration, Kearney spent two years as an assistant coach for the men's basketball team. Kearney is responsible for ensuring that Nicholls' 14 NCAA Division I sports remain in compliance with NCAA regulations. Kearney joined the Colonels after one season as an assistant coach at Campbellsville College of the NAIA and a four-year playing career at NCAA Division II Lake Superior State. Kearney earned four letters in basketball for the Lakers. During his senior season of 2006-07, Kearney captained Lake Superior State and led the Lakers team to a doubling of its conference win total from the previous season. Kearney and his wife, Andie Chassion, have a son, Lincoln. The family resides in Thibodaux.

Andrew Neupert

Andrew Neupert returned to Nicholls State University for the 2023 season, serving as tight ends coach. In addition to coaching tight ends, he was named Co-Special Teams Coordinator in 2024. As Neupert aided the offensive run-game coordination in conjunction with analyzing opponent defensive scheme and philosophy, the 2023 season boasted unprecedented achievements for the Colonels. Nicholls finished the year as undefeated Southland Conference champions for the first time in school history. Their rushing offense led the league standings in conference play as they averaged 5.2 yards per carry with over 1,300 yards in only six games. Supporting the championship efforts, tight end Lee Negrotto earned All-Southland Second Team honors as a dominant blocker and receiver who averaged over 10 yards per catch on the season. Neupert spent the 2022 season at Georgia Southern University coaching outside linebackers as a graduate assistant. There, he helped the Eagles reach bowl eligibility with a season that included a road victory against Power 5 opponent Nebraska. The outside linebacker group generated double digit sacks, tackles for loss, two interceptions, and Sunbelt All-Conference Honors for Senior Justin Ellis. During the 2021 season, Neupert worked with the LSU defensive line as a graduate assistant where he coached 2022 NFL draftees Neil Farrell Jr, (DT/4 th Round) and Andre Anthony (DE/7 th Round) along with 2023 NFL draftees BJ Ojulari (DE/2 nd Round) and Jaquelin Roy (DT/5 th Round). The Tigers defense finished the year tied 24th in the nation with 38 total sacks and tied for 12th in the nation with 98 total tackles for loss to lead them to bowl eligibility. Before arriving at LSU, Neupert coached the 2020 season at Tulane University as a defensive graduate assistant. There he helped the Green Wave defense gain national rankings of third most sacks and tackles for loss in the regular season. Neupert also coached NFL draftee Cam Sample (DE/4th Round) during his senior season. In 2020, Sample earned first-team All-AAC Conference honors and a PFF All-American Honorable Mention. In 2019, Neupert served as a defensive graduate assistant at the University of Louisiana Monroe. During his lone season at ULM, Neupert helped direct the Warhawks to 20 sacks which tied for fourth in the Sun Belt. He also coached 2021 undrafted free agent Defensive End Ty Shelby (Los Angeles Chargers) and Sun Belt All-Conference honorees Larance Shaw and Donald Louis. Prior to his tenure at ULM, Neupert spent two seasons at Millsaps College where he served as the inside linebackers coach for the 2017 and 2018 season. There he coached two-time SAA All-Conference linebacker Reid Evans and second-team SAA All-Conference linebacker Chandler Coleman. Neupert joined the Majors after spending one season at Nicholls. While at Nicholls, he aided the defensive staff with film breakdown and assisted with coaching the defensive backfield unit that led the Southland Conference in interceptions. Before arriving at Nicholls, Neupert coached the offensive line at his alma mater, Archbishop Rummel High School in Louisiana in 2015. He helped lead the Raiders to a phenomenal 11-2 season where they were New Orleans Catholic League champions, Louisiana state champion runners-up, and they were nationally ranked in the top 25 by both USA Today and Max Preps. In 2013, Neupert began his coaching career with the Archbishop Rummel's Junior High football team where he was the defensive coordinator and linebackers coach. That team finished the season with a 7-2-1 record and pitched four consecutive shutouts to opposing offenses. Also in 2013, Neupert spent the spring and summer working as a football operations intern with the Arena Football League's New Orleans VooDoo. A native to New Orleans, Neupert graduated from the Tulane University in 2021, with a master's degree in sport studies and University of New Orleans in 2016, with his bachelor's degree in secondary education.

Caroline Bernard joined the Nicholls Athletics staff in June of 2019 as a student worker for the department. She assisted in marketing and operations development, while also helping with ticketing, fundraising, and sponsorship fulfillment. In June of 2023, Bernard was named as an Account Executive for Colonel Sports Properties. Her duties include the development of current and new corporate partners on behalf of Nicholls Athletics and PEAK Sports Management. As well as fulfilling and ensuring relationships are maintained.

Cody Livingston

Cody Livingston was hired as the assistant coach for Nicholls Baseball on Wednesday, Aug. 4, 2021, taking over duties as the program's pitching coach. Prior to taking the assistant position with the Red & Gray, Livingston served as an assistant coach at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College for two seasons from 2020-21, helping lead the Bulldogs to one postseason appearance during his last year with the program. Throughout the 2021 campaign, Livingston coached an All-NJCAA Region 23 team selection, two All-MACCC first-team selections and three All-MACCC honorable mentions. Over the course of his two seasons with Mississippi Gulf Coast, Livingston also guided 17 student-athletes to placement on collegiate programs at the next level. Before joining Mississippi Gulf Coast, Livingston spent two years as an assistant at Arkansas-Little Rock from 2018-19, assisting the Trojans with the pitching staff, offense and outfielders. During his final season with the team, UALR won the most games since 2010 (29), good for third-most in program history, as the Trojans managed to secure a second-place finish in the Sun Belt Conference. The year prior, Livingston assisted the 2018 Little Rock squad to their first postseason victory since 2011.

Colonel Pride

Colonel Pride is abundant through the Terrell family. His wife, Taryn (BA '99), daughter Katelyn (BA '19) and son-in-law Darius Coleman (BA '18) are Nicholls alum. Katelyn is also an admissions counselor in the Office of Enrollment Services. Twin daughters Meagan, a psychology major, and Makena, a business major, are currently sophomores at Nicholls. Maegan, and nephew, Tyrease Terrell, are student-athletes, playing soccer and basketball, respectively, for the Colonels. His youngest son, Jacob, is a die-hard Colonel fan.

Connie Olivier has served as the administrative assistant in the Nicholls Athletics business office since 2004. Prior to that, Olivier worked in the accounting department for Oceaneering International for six years. Olivier has two sons, Nicholas and Christopher, and one daughter, Charlotte.

Darion Monroe

Darion Monroe joined the Nicholls State University football staff in 2022, serving as the cornerbacks coach. For the 2023 season, he will oversee the safeties and nickels. He came to Nicholls after two years as a graduate assistant at the University of Central Florida. Monroe worked with the secondary while at UCF, helping the Knights to a Gator Bowl victory over the University of Florida. In addition to his coaching responsibilities, Monroe's recruiting territory included Louisiana and Mississippi. Prior to UCF, Monroe spent 2019 as a defensive grad assistant working with safeties at Troy University. In 2018, he was assistant coach and passing game coordinator at Millsaps University in Jackson, Mississippi. A native of LaPlace, Louisiana, Monroe played at Tulane from 2012-15 as a safety. He earned All-Conference USA honorable mention as a sophomore and was named to the C-USA All-Freshman Team in 2012. Monroe was the AAC Defensive Player of the Week in '14 and ended his career with over 300 tackles. Monroe earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Tulane in 2016 and was a member of the Green Wave's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.

Darryl Daigle

Daigle came to Nicholls after serving as the Chief Business Officer at South Central Louisiana Technical College for four years. His duties at South Central Louisiana included directing and coordinating financial operations, overseeing the preparation of all financial reports and monitoring the budget. He was also named Interim Vice Chancellor of Finance at LE Fletcher Technical Community College. Daigle received a bachelor's degree in accounting from Nicholls in 1999. Following graduation, he worked as an accountant in the private sector for 13 years before venturing into higher education. Daigle started his accounting career at Aggressor Fleet LTD in 2000 and after a brief stint at WayneWorks Marine in 2007; he spent six years at Seacraft Shipyard/Comar Marine.

Delanie Authement

Delanie Authement joined the Nicholls Athletics department as the Assistant Director of Athletic Academics in April of 2022. In her role, she is responsible for the academic advisement of the baseball, softball, men's and women's basketball, golf, and track and cross-country teams. In addition, Delanie is the SAAC oversight and sport administrator for the women's basketball and golf programs. Prior to working at Nicholls, Authement was an academic advisor for two years at LSU, where she provided support to the men's and women's swimming and diving and tennis programs. In addition to her advising responsibilities, she oversaw the graduate assistant & intern development program at the LSU Cox Communications Academic Center for Student Athletes (CCASCA). Additionally, she was involved with professional development and APR committees, developed and managed a training program for the summer bridge program and managed the social media accounts. She got her start in athletics as an intern with the LSU CCASCA in 2014. While there she worked as a content and strategy tutor before serving as a graduate assistant with the football advising team. Authement graduated with her bachelor's degree of science in Sport Administration in 2017, and master of science degree in Leadership and Human Resource development in 2019 from LSU. She is currently in the master's program at Nicholls for Clinical Mental Health Counseling with an anticipated graduation date of May 2024. The south Louisiana native is an active member of N4A and was selected to participate in the NCAA Emerging Leaders program in 2019.

Gabe Woods

Gabe Woods joined the Colonel Baseball program as a volunteer assistant coach on September 24, 2021. He will be coaching the infielders as well as assisting Coach Ladd Rhodes with the hitters and base running. Coach Woods will also be in charge of administrative duties and camp coordination. Woods comes to Nicholls after serving the last two seasons as an assistant coach at St. Thomas Aquinas in Hammond, La. He helped to lead the Falcons to a 28-6 overall record last season and an appearance in the state semifinals. Prior to coaching at STA, Woods served as the head coach of Albany High School for three seasons (2017-2019), leading the Hornets to three straight district titles and three consecutive playoff appearances. Woods played collegiately at Ole Miss, Meridian Community College, and finished his final two seasons at Southeastern Louisiana University in 2013-14. While at Southeastern, he helped the Lions to a conference championship and first regional appearance in 20 years.

Greg Harkins

Harkins came to Nicholls after directing the women's tennis program at the University of Louisiana from 2011-15. While at UL, Harkins guided the Ragin' Cajuns to 40 victories and a finals appearance in the Sun Belt Conference Tournament. In the classroom, his team held the school record for most consecutive semesters with a 3.0 or above grade point average. Before taking over the UL program, Harkins was an assistant coach for the men's and women's teams at College of Charleston from 2008-10. Both teams posted undefeated records in 2010 to claim Southern Conference regular season titles and each squad was ranked in the top 60 for the first time in school history. The women's team also enjoyed postseason success, earning back-to-back conference tournament titles and bids into the NCAA Tournament. During Harkins' tenure, the teams combined to go 71-32 in four seasons. Harkins also held positions at several tennis clubs, most recently as Tennis Director at Atkinson-Stern Tennis Center in New Orleans. Harkins lettered at Georgia State University where he earned a bachelor's degree in integrated studies. Greg Harkins was named head coach of the Nicholls State University tennis program in September of 2016.

Isabel Almendarez

Nicholls State University head volleyball coach Jonea Rima announced Isabel Almendarez as her new assistant coach for the indoor and beach program in February 2024. Almendarez joins the staff after spending one season as the head coach for the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma. At USAO she went 10-14 overall and had three NAIA Scholar Student-Athletes. She began her coaching career as the head coach at Dallas College Cedar Valley from 2015-2023. She built the program from the ground up and eventually finished as the 2022 Southwest District Conference Runners-Up. For the Suns, she coached 11 NJCAA All-Americans, two conference MVPs, one conference Setter of the Year, and multiple All-Region and All-Conference selections. Almendarez also has experience as a student-athlete. She played on two NJCAA National Championship teams for Brookhaven College where she earned an associate degree (2008-09). She then went on to continue her career and earn a Bachelor of Science Liberal Studies degree from Texas Weslyan. Almendarez also earned a Master of Science degree from the TMATE program in Secondary Education and Cirriculum from Tarleton State University.

Jailen Leach

Jailen Leach joined the Nicholls Athletics staff as the Assistant Director of Media Relations in July 2023. Prior to coming to Thibodaux, he was a sports information intern/graduate assistant at his alma mater North Carolina Central University from 2018-2023. During his time at NCCU he did countless tasks to help enhance the student-athlete experience and grow the brand recognition of the university. The duties include social media graphics and posts, photography, videography, play-by-play and color commentary for the NCCU Sports Network, PA announcing. Leach also wrote numerous game previews, recaps,and feature stories, recorded statistics, create game notes, and anything else under the sports information umbrella. Additionally he has experience as a camera operator (ESPN+), replay technician for football and basketball. The Pittsboro, NC native, obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Mass Communications (Spring '21) and a Master of Science degree in Athletic Administration (Spring '23) from NCCU. He is also a member of the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ), and College Sports Communicators (CSC).

James Schilling

James Schilling is in his 23rd season at the helm of the Nicholls State University men's golf program. Schilling, who served as an assistant coach for a season, moved into the head post in 1998. The native of Lafayette, La., played two seasons at Centenary College in Shreveport before transferring to Nicholls to complete his golf career, lettering twice. During his tenure as head coach, the Colonels have claimed three tournament victories, most recently in the fall of 2010 as the Colonels won the HBU Invitational. Nicholls' first victory under Schilling was in the 2001 Pizza Hut/Bellsouth Classic in Jackson, Miss. Nicholls repeated as tournament champs in 2002 beating The United States Military Academy. In 2017, Nicholls placed fourth in the Southland Conference Championships, which was the best finish in program history. The Colonels have also achieved success on an individual level as well under Schilling, as his squad has claimed six individual titles since 2010. An impressive showing in the 2017 Southland Conference Championships saw three Colonels earn top 10 finishes, highlighted by Albert Badosa-Soler who was tied for first after 54 holes. Following a six-hole playoff, Badosa went on to become the first Colonel in program history to win the Southland title. Joining Badosa in the top 10 were Jack Lee (t-5th) and Josh Fullilove (t-8th). Schilling is married to the former Effie Ford of Houma. The couple resides in Houma and has two sons, William and Andrew.

Schulte joins the staff after two years as the Administrative Coordinator for the Nicholls MBA Department, where she handled all of the day to day operations of the MBA & EMBA Programs. Prior to her return to Thibodaux in 2019, Jen graduated in 2011 with a Business degree from Kansas State University where she was a four year member of the Equestrian Team, and a two year team captain. After graduation she continued her education at K-State and graduated with her Master's degree in Counseling and Student Development in 2013. Jen then spent two years working for K-State Athletics' Ahearn Fund; as the Gift Processing Assistant and Assistant Director of Development from 2013-2015.

Nicholls State University Athletics Director Jonathan Terrell announced Friday, March 10, the hiring of Jonea Rima as head coach for Colonel indoor/beach volleyball, pending approval from the University of Louisiana System Board of Supervisors. Jonathan Terrell was named the Nicholls State University's Director of Athletics on June 22, 2020. Terrell, who is the first Black athletic director in Nicholls history, has more than two decades of proven sales and coaching success. "I am grateful to Dr. Clune and the committee for giving me the opportunity to work at a place that I love," Terrell said. "I am honored to be able to lead this department and continue the climb. Whether it's in the classroom, on the field of play or in the community, we will be one team with one goal in mind, winning." "An athletic director doesn't win a single game," said Nicholls President Dr. Jay Clune. "You need someone of superior judgment to put the right team of coaches in place to be successful. Jonathan Terrell has that judgment. Going into the search, I was looking for someone of unquestionable integrity and character who could raise money. I couldn't be happier with our selection." Terrell takes over an athletic department in the midst of historic success both athletically and academically. Football has won back-to-back Southland Conference championships for the first time in school history, while women's basketball, men's basketball, and softball each won a regular season or tournament title in 2018. In the spring, Nicholls posted its highest ever term grade-point average, 3.31, and enjoyed its 10th year in a row of successful NCAA Academic Progress Rate scores.

Jordy Champagne

Prior to returning to the Nicholls State strength staff in September 2021, Champagne had a brief stint as an Assistant Sports Performance Coach at LA Tech working with LA Tech's women's basketball, volleyball, and men's golf programs while also assisting with men's basketball. Champagne interned with the strength and conditioning program at Nicholls State University from January 2020 to May 2021 where he was responsible for program design and implementation for softball, men's and women's tennis, and women's soccer while assisting with all other sports. Following his Nicholls State internship, he also interned with the Elon Sports Performance staff working with the men's and women's basketball programs for the Summer of 2021. Champagne earned his Master's in Applied Sport & Exercise Science from the University of Derby in Derby, England. He is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) and is CPR-AED certified.

Justin Lewis

Lewis took over the Colonel softball program after spending one season as an assistant and primary hitting instructor at Fresno State, where the Bulldogs won the Mountain West Championship and made an appearance in the 2021 NCAA Tournament. Fresno State posted a 37-12 overall record with a 20-4 mark in the Mountain West. Justin Lewis was named head softball coach at Nicholls State University on July 8, 2021. He is in his third season as coach of the Colonels.

Justin Payne

Justin Payne returned to Thibodaux to take over the Nicholls Women's Basketball program, being named the 10th head coach in school history. Payne, a former player on the Colonel men's basketball team and long-time assistant for the women's program, made his way back to the Bayou after spending four years as head coach at Division II Georgia Southwestern. Payne amassed a 69-35 overall record in his tenure with the Lady Hurricanes, highlighted by a historic 2022-23 campaign. GSW claimed a program-best 26 victories which included a 13-5 record in the Peach Belt Conference en route to the school's first-ever regular season and tournament titles. Payne put an emphasis on protecting their home court, leading GSW to a stellar 38-14 record at the Storm Dome in his four seasons. After going .500 in his rookie campaign, Payne's Lady Canes had three consecutive winning records at home including a dominating combined 28-5 record over the last two years. A native of Opelousas, Payne began his coaching career at Nicholls as a graduate assistant under DoBee Plaisance. He then served as an assistant for eight seasons as the Colonels enjoyed their most successful decade in program history. The biggest achievement for the Red and Gray was their run through the 2018 Southland Conference Tournament, winning the title as a No. 4 seed to advance to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in school history.

Kat Frakes is in her first year as an assistant coach for the Colonels in 2022-2023 where she will serve as the pitching coach. Frakes comes to Thibodaux after spending last season (2022) as an assistant coach for Drury University, where the Panthers took third in the Great Valley Lakes Conference and made the program's first appearance in the NCAA Division II postseason tournament. Drury posted a 37-17 overall record with a 21-7 record in conference play. Drury softball pitcher Kristina Bettis became the program's first-ever All-American selection when she named to the First Team of the 2022 NCAA-II All-American squad by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association.

Katie Callahan

Katie Callahan joined the Nicholls Athletics staff in June of 2014, serving as the Director of Corporate Sponsorships. In the fall of 2017, she was named Assistant Athletics Director for External Engagement and oversaw all corporate sponsorships and Colonel Athletic Association initiatives. In Fall of 2021, Callahan was promoted to Associate Athletic Director for External Operations and Special Services/Director of Operations. Callahan also acts as the Manning Passing Academy Committee Chair as well as the official school liaison with the Manning Passing Academy. The Houston native and former Colonel softball standout is married to Chris Callahan and resides in Thibodaux, La. The couple has one son, Cooper, and two daughters, Annie James and Sadie.

Tommy Rybacki

Tommy Rybacki is in his seventh season with the Nicholls State University football program as defensive coordinator. For the 2021 spring season, Rybacki's defense ranked second in Southland games in total defense and second in rushing yards allowed. The defense had a dominating performance in the league opener by shutting out Lamar in a 55-0 victory. The Colonels limited LU to only 91 yards of total offense and did not allow the Cardinals past the 50-yard line.
