Welcome to the Department of Human Development and Family Studies (HDFS) at Michigan State University. Our department is made up of a vibrant community of scholars who are passionate about making a difference in the lives of families and communities. The mission of the HDFS Department is to engage in cutting edge applied translational research and inspired teaching, with the goal of improving the health and well-being of diverse individuals, families, children, and communities, locally, nationally, and globally. We aim for our science to transform the human experience and inspire leaders, especially when relevant to families and children. HDFS is comprised of interdisciplinary scholars who seek excellence in research, teaching, outreach, policy leadership, and the preparation of future scholars and leaders.
