Alex Brown

Alex Brown is a veteran technology Executive and Investor. Alex was the Founder and CEO of 10th Magnitude, the leading Microsoft Azure digital transformation consultancy in the US, and a 4-time Global Partner of the Year award winner. 10th Magnitude was founded in 2010, received Private Equity funding in 2016, and spent the next 4 years scaling the business until it was sold to Cognizant in 2020. Prior to this, Alex was a Managing Director at Plural, a NYC software consultancy which was sold to Dell in 2002. Alex spent 6 years at Dell during which time he led Dell's Asia-Pacific professional services business (based in Singapore) and led the global solution development organization. Alex began his career as a developer at KPMG building finance models and applications. Currently, Alex is focused on investing in the technology and technology services space. He serves on the Boards of a number of PE backed and VC backed companies and provides active mentorship and advisory support for their growth. Alex holds a BA in Economics with honors from Oberlin College, and an MBA from Yale University's School of Management. He lives outside of Chicago with his wife Jennifer.

Amanda Lannert

Under Amanda's leadership, Jellyvision has become one of Chicago's fastest growing tech companies, adding about 100 employees a year while remaining cash flow positive. The company has grown to serve hundreds of mostly Fortune 1000 clients with ALEX®, the most helpful employee decision support platform on the planet. In 2017, nearly 17 million employees and $101 billion dollars' worth of premium decisions were entrusted to ALEX. Prior to joining Jellyvision, Amanda managed global brands for Kellogg's while at Leo Burnett, where she developed strategies and implemented campaigns for Pop-Tarts and Nutri-Grain bars, in addition to spending two years in a new business and new brand development think tank.

Ann Deters is the CEO & Founder of Vantage Technology, providing cataract services to hospitals and surgery centers throughout the United States for the past 30 years. Currently, she sits on two corporate boards, i.e. Xformative (New York City technology start-up company) and Vantage Technology.

Bess Goodfellow is a Partner at HPA. Bess is passionate about empowering founders as they build transformative companies. In her current role, Bess is tasked with sourcing high growth companies across the Midwest and supporting those investments through their lifecycle. Her portfolio of investments spans a broad spectrum of industry including enterprise, fintech, consumer, and digital health. She has worked on over 35 HPA deals including Provi, ShipBob, Clearcover, Sifter, and oak9. Bess joined HPA in 2017 as an Analyst. Prior to HPA, Bess graduated from the University of Chicago with degrees in Economics and Sociology. She also worked as a research analyst to apply data and machine learning models to social science questions.

Craig Vodnik - Founder

Craig is a co-founder of cleverbridge, the market leading full-service e-commerce platform for software and subscription model businesses. Craig started the business with 3 co-founders in 2005 and bootstrapped the company to profitability in two years. Today, the company has over 300 employees and offices in Chicago, San Francisco, Cologne, Germany and Tokyo, Japan. Before cleverbridge, Craig worked at companies in the financial services, e-commerce, banking and publishing industries, starting with his first job as the webmaster at the Chicago Tribune, where he led the technical efforts to launch the newspaper online in 1996. Craig is passionate about mentoring the next generation of entrepreneurs, spending his time at Catapult Chicago, with the Junto Institute or in conjunction with Techstars Chicago. He has been recognized for his success as a finalist for the EY Entrepreneur of the Year Midwest, one of the 2015 Techweek 100 and included in the Blue Sky's Vault, a collection of Chicago's tech and innovation leaders. His interests lie in e-commerce, software, Software-as-a-Service and marketplaces.

Joe Beatty

Joe is an investor and advisor to numerous startups and growth companies in the technology space. Prior to that, he was President, Chief Executive Officer and a board member of Telular Corporation, a publicly held, "Internet of Things" company based in Chicago. Previous to that, Joe was the CEO of Concourse Communications, a P.E. owned, wireless service provider that was sold to Boingo Inc. Earlier in his career, Joe was a co-founder and the Chief Financial Officer of Focal Communications Corporation, a startup-to-publicly-held, telecom services provider. Currently, Joe serves on the board of four growth-stage companies. Mr. Beatty holds a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from the University of Illinois and an MBA from the University of Chicago's Booth School of Business. He is also a Chartered Financial Analyst, having been a sell-side securities analyst earlier in his career.

Sapan Shah's background includes a range of experience in entrepreneurship, medicine, law, insurance, angel investing and politics. Sapan is the Managing Partner of Alera Group's HPL Division and a Board Director of Alera Group, a national insurance and financial services firm. Sapan joined Alera in 2017 when Alera acquired Flagship Healthcare, which he co-founded in 2007. Sapan also serves on the Board of Advisors for the Burke Neurological Institute of Weill Cornell Medicine in White Plains, NY and on the Board of Directors of the Civic Federation, a non-partisan government research organization in Chicago. Sapan is an active Angel Investor in Hyde Park Angels (HPA), having invested in 40+ startups overall. He is on the Board of Directors of Kaizen Health, a Board observer for Blueprint, and was previously a Board Director for Regroup therapy, all HPA healthcare portfolio companies. Previously, Sapan ran for US Congress in Illinois' Tenth Congressional District on a platform of financial discipline, inclusion, and term limits. Sapan lives in Libertyville, IL with his wife, Rachna Shah, M.D., an allergist in private practice.

Susan Whiting - Chairman
