Amber has extensive experience working across the organisation including 12 years in the gastro sciences unit; as the Nurse Unit Manager of our Cardiac Services; the National Standards Lead for Deteriorating Patient; as an Associate Director of Nursing/Hospital Coordinator and Acting Director Clinical Services.

Andy Bower commenced as Director Corporate Services in August 2020 after a brief period as Interim Director Corporate Services from March 2020. Andy has over 15 years' experience working in financial leadership and executive roles in the private healthcare sector, successfully leading teams across Finance, Administration, Health Information and Supply in a variety of settings from not-for-profit to private equity owned organisations. Andy is a Chartered Accountant and Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants (England & Wales), and has a Masters of Engineering.

Dr. Martin MacDonald

Martin plays an integral role at Jessie McPherson Private Hospital, working closely with the executive team, management, and senior nursing staff to support excellence in patient care and medical leadership. After completing his undergraduate and basic physician training in the UK, Martin emigrated to Melbourne in 2006. He completed advanced training in Respiratory and Sleep Medicine through Monash Medical Centre and St Vincent's Hospital, Melbourne. His PhD, awarded by Monash University, focused on the clinical phenotyping of COPD exacerbations, particularly exploring the interaction between cardiac disease and COPD. Martin holds an academic appointment with Monash University, where he serves as a PhD supervisor, and is a prolific researcher. His work has been published in leading journals such as The Lancet Respiratory Medicine, American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine, European Respiratory Journal, Chest, and Respirology, where he is also a Deputy Editor. His PhD research earned the Fairfax Family Research Scholarship, and he was a finalist for the prestigious Thoracic Society of Australia and New Zealand New Investigator Award. In his clinical roles, Martin is a Respiratory and Sleep Physician at Monash Medical Centre and Head of Unit for both Respiratory and General Medicine at Jessie McPherson Private Hospital. Through his work with the Monash Lung and Sleep Department, he remains actively involved in research on COPD and severe asthma, including biological therapies. He has broad expertise in managing respiratory and sleep disorders and performs a weekly bronchoscopy list.

Eugine Yafele

Professor Eugine Yafele commenced his role as Chief Executive of Monash Health in March 2024. Relocating from the United Kingdom to Australia to take up this position, Professor Yafele was recognised as the top National Health Service (NHS) CEO in 2022 by the Health Service Journal. Professor Yafele was previously Chief Executive Officer at University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust. In this role, patient and consumer experience was his priority as he led COVID recovery and restoration of services and integration of pathways and improvement across Bristol and Weston-super-Mare. In partnership with North Bristol NHS Trust, he delivered the joint clinical strategy to create world-class acute and tertiary care across Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire. Prior to that, Professor Yafele was Chief Executive Officer at Dorset Healthcare University NHS Foundation Trust (DHC). In his first year as CEO, he led the organisation to achieve a Care Quality Commission rating of Outstanding, and, under his leadership, DHC ranked among the top four Trusts in the NHS annual staff survey for three consecutive years - performing the best nationally on staff engagement and empowerment. Professor Yafele brings a deep and broad experience across senior clinical, operational and leadership roles to Monash Health and a particular interest in value-based healthcare and reducing health inequities.

Jennine Harbrow

Jennine Harbrow was appointed to the role of Director Clinical Services at Jessie McPherson Private Hospital in November 2019. Jennine graduated as a registered nurse in 1983. During her career Jennine has worked in Coronary Care, medical and surgical areas at Prince Henry's Hospital and Monash Health. Jennine has held senior nursing roles over the past 20 years, including Coronary Care Nurse Manager; Operations Manager /Deputy Director of Nursing Dandenong; Director Hospital in the Community/Director of Nursing and Acting General Manager Casey and Cranbourne. Jennine's commitment to ensuring a safe and congenial workplace, in developing her team, and improving quality outcomes and the patient experience has been acknowledged by numerous Monash Health and Victorian Public Healthcare Awards over many years. Jennine holds a Certificate in Coronary Care, a Graduate Diploma in Business, and a Masters of Management qualification.

Mr Stuart Donaldson

Mr Donaldson was Chief Financial Officer of Monash Health from January 2017 to November 2021. Prior to this, Stuart was the Chief Financial Officer for RMIT University for seven years; and then previously held a number of senior finance roles within the FMCG Industry, notably Chief Financial Officer for Cadbury Schweppes Australia and New Zealand. These roles have enabled Stuart to develop excellent financial acumen, combined with strategic thinking and commercial know how, to partner businesses to deliver on both the long term and short-term agenda. His experience across many facets of business include, acquisitions, divestments, negotiation of funding facilities, system implementations, implementation of reporting and purchasing systems, shared business services (on shore and off shore), strategic tax initiatives, organisational change management, implementing Integrated Business Management processes, driving improvement in key performance indicators and embedding financial business partnering. Stuart is a Fellow of the Certified Practising Accountants of Australia.

Mr Tony Jones - Chairman

Mr Jones has more than 30 years' experience as an adviser and executive in health related businesses. He has been the managing director of Penant Capital since 2008. Penant Capital advises for profit and not for profit companies on strategy, mergers and acquisitions, partnerships/joint ventures, financing and stakeholder relations. He was previously a member of the Group Executive at Medibank Private Limited as Group Manager Strategy and Communications (2004 to 2008) and co-head of Consumer, Healthcare and Leisure investment banking at Deutsche Bank AG in Australia and New Zealand including roles on related global teams (1994-2004). Prior to this he worked as a chartered accountant with Price Waterhouse and Arthur Andersen providing audit, tax and business advisory services.

Mrs Jane Bell

Mrs Bell is a banking and finance lawyer and non-executive director with more than 30 years' experience in leading law firms, financial services, and corporate treasury operations gained living in Melbourne, London, Toronto, San Francisco and Brisbane. Mrs Bell has been a non-executive director since 2002, serving on 14 boards including 10 health and medical research boards. Mrs Bell currently serves as the Deputy Chair of Monash Health, Chair of Mesoblast Limited (ASX:MSB), (Nasdaq:MESO), Amplia Therapeutics Limited (ASX:ATX), and a former Member of the Administrative Appeals Tribunal. Mrs Bell is a former Chair of Melbourne Health (Royal Melbourne Hospital), Chair of Biomedical Research Vic, Deputy Chair of Westernport Water Corporation, Director of UCA Funds Management, WorkSafe Victoria, Hudson Institute of Medical Research-Monash Institute of Medical Research-Prince Henry's Institute of Medical Research, Queensland Institute of Medical Research Trust, Australian Red Cross (Qld), Victorian Women's Housing Association and Chair of the Community Advisory Group of the Melbourne Genomics Health Alliance. Ms Rachelle Anstey

Ms Anstey joined Monash Health in 2021 as Chief Financial Officer, with responsibility for Procurement, Logistics, Internal Audit, and Financial Services. Rachelle has a strong record of achievement and a wealth of experience across a broad range of industries and organisations, including public health. An expert in continuous improvement, Rachelle focuses on improving reporting and decision making for all levels of the organisation. Before joining Monash Health, Rachelle was Executive Director of Finance at Peninsula Health, providing critical insights and commercial guidance to support the organisation's strategic direction. Rachelle has also worked in senior finance roles for Alfred Health, Melbourne Water and RACV, leading large teams to deliver successful financial, payroll and revenue services alongside procurement and supply programs.

Prof Paul Cashin

Paul Cashin was appointed to the role of Director, Medical Services at Jessie McPherson Private Hospital in January 2016. Paul graduated from Monash University in 1984; he trained in General Surgery at the Repatriation General Hospital, Heidelberg, graduating in 1996. Having spent time in the United Kingdom, he returned to Australia to commence his Upper GI appointment at Monash Medical Centre in 1998. Paul is currently the Service Director of General and Gastrointestinal Surgery across all Monash Health sites; he has been an active surgeon at Jessie McPherson Private Hospital for 25 years. He has particular interests in oesphago-gastric cancer, reflux disease, oesophageal motility disorders and advanced laparoscopic surgery. He is also a Clinical Associate Professor in Dept. of Surgery, Southern Clinical School at Monash University. Paul acts as Medical Advisor to the Kitaya Holdings Board of Directors, and he participates in the Kitaya Board Quality Committee. He is also Chairman of the Medical Advisory Committee (MAC) at Jessie McPherson Private Hospital. In his role as Director, Medical Services, Paul oversees medical governance and accreditation including areas such as patient care and quality outcomes, the patient experience, medical credentialing and scope of practice, research, new technologies and medical ethics.

Prof. Julian Smith

Julian graduated in medicine from the University of Melbourne in 1981. His early post-graduate years were spent at the Royal Melbourne Hospital from where he obtained a Master of Surgery degree from the University of Melbourne and the Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in General Surgery. His Australian training in cardiothoracic surgery was carried out at the Royal Melbourne, Alfred and Royal Children's Hospitals. After obtaining the FRACS in Cardiothoracic Surgery, he spent time at Stanford University in the USA and then Papworth Hospital in the UK for further training particularly in the field of transplantation. In early 1995, he returned to the Alfred Hospital as a cardiothoracic surgeon and Deputy Head of the Heart and Lung Transplant Service, positions he held until September 2001. Prior to taking on the role of Medical Director at Monash Heart Private Julian held the position of Director of Cardiothoracic Surgery Unit at Monash Health. Julian has over 21 years of practice as a cardiothoracic surgeon at Monash Health and Jessie McPherson Private Hospital. Julian envisions the role of Deputy Medical Director at Monash Heart Private as providing medical governance, leadership and management to ensure that the hospital delivers the highest quality medical patient care within the established clinical governance framework

Thinesh Chandraratne - CEO

Thinesh Chandraratne has extensive experience in senior management and executive roles across multiple industries including healthcare, manufacturing, construction and retail having worked interstate as well as internationally. After holding numerous management roles at Monash Health over a 10 year period, Thinesh initially commenced at Jessie McPherson Private Hospital in March 2015 as the Director Corporate Services and subsequently stepped into the role of Chief Executive Officer. Thinesh holds an Advanced Certificate in Marketing (UK), a Diploma in Information Technology, is a Fellow of CPA Australia, CIMA (UK), AAT (UK) and also holds a Master's in Professional Accounting. Thinesh has a strong commitment to innovation and productivity, with a keen focus on risk management, legislative compliance, organisational governance and partnering to deliver excellent outcomes.

Vicki Green

Vicki has worked with Jessie McPherson Private Hospital for 25 years, gaining widespread clinical and administrative experience, and leading the Gastrosciences team as the Nurse Unit Manager with passion and dedication. Vicki has also worked in multiple roles across the organisation including as an Associate Director of Nursing/Hospital Coordinator; the National Standards Lead for Comprehensive Care; Quality and Safety Partner and Consumer Liaison Officer; OHS Representative and Acting Director Clinical Services on multiple occasions.
